  1. “Mmrph” You grumble in annoyance.
  2. >Something is tickling you.
  3. >You are much too tired to move your arms.
  4. >You are Anonymous.
  5. >And you are asleep.
  6. >Kind of.
  7. >At some point in the night your eyes were much too tired to be held open.
  8. >But due to your practice of staying awake at LAN parties and pulling all-nighters with your friends, you’ve mastered the art of sleeping while being awake.
  9. >It’s probably the worst thing that you’ve ever learned.
  10. >But hey, it got you through college.
  11. >The tickling continues.
  12. >Your addled brain is having slight difficulties comprehending the nerves, but you think it’s coming from your chest.
  13. >You attempt to wake up, your heavy eyelids just barely rising, slower than a sunrise.
  14. >The first thing you glimpse is color…
  15. >A yawn catches you, the joints in your neck popping enthusisastically.
  16. >You blink some sleepies out of your eyes and smack your lips a bit; your mouth is very dry.
  17. >The morning sunrise is glaring through the open window.
  18. >Though beautiful, you’re more of a night-owl, and instead shield your eyes with a hand.
  19. >Then you feel the tickling sensation again.
  20. >You look down to your chest, the origin.
  21. >Somehow, some when…Rarity seems to have climbed on top of you.
  22. >Your arms are wrapped around her, holding you close to her.
  23. >If your heart was awake, it’d probably be making you blush right now.
  24. >And the tickling is… what is she doing?
  25. >You brush her massive squiggly mane out of the way gently and see that she’s… she’s licking you.
  26. >ANON
  27. >SHE IS LICKING YOU.
  28. >Now that you’re awake, your brain is attempting to comprehend this.
  29. >Why is she licking your chest?
  30. >How did she get off of the bed and on to me?
  31. >Is sleepwalking this big of a thing for her?
  32. >That might have been important to know.
  33. >She seems to be still asleep, though.
  34. >You wonder if perhaps she did this on purpose.
  35. >She did seem a little concerned for your warmth last night.
  36. >Last night…
  37. >You shake the thought from your head.
  38. >Another time, Anonymous.
  39. >Reaching out with a lazy arm you poke at Rarity’s horn.
  40. >Nearly instantly she pops up, blinking and looking around, puzzled.
  41. >“Oh…um…hello Anonymous” She says, surprise written all over her face.
  42. “Uh… hi.” You say, unsure what to do in this situation.
  43. “Are you alright?” you ask plainly, running a hand through your hair and taking a deep breath.
  44. >She fidgets slightly, seemingly a bit embarrassed.
  45. >”I’m…I’m fine Anonymous. Darling… um… how did I end up on you?”
  46. “…did you know that you sleepwalk?”
  47. >She blinks.
  48. >”No? My, I’ve never done such a thing in my life. I remember getting up to get a drink of water and…I don’t really recall what happened after that. Huh.”
  49. >She hops off of you, to the ground, stretching her limbs a little.
  50. >It’s probably best if you don’t tell her… right?
  51. >She seems well enough.
  52. >“My…I’m feeling pretty incredible, actually. Do get dressed, Anonymous. I believe it is time we took our leave of this place.”
  53. >”Alright, I guess. The doctors said you were free to go today anyway.”
  54. >You brace yourself against the wall and rise to your feet, your tired bones aching.
  55. >You actually didn’t get any sleep last night, unfortunately.
  56. >Another yawn catches you as you stretch out your arms, all manner of cracking and popping noises accompanying the exercise.
  57. >”Anonymous…did you get any sleep last night? I was hoping that maybe me sleeping with you would help out a tad. I remember Rainbow saying you have an issue with sleeping.”
  58. >You scratch your head dejectedly.
  59. “I don’t think so. But I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me.”
  60. >You pick up your shirt and begin to put it on.
  61. >That’s when you also notice that your hands still have blue blood on them from last night.
  62. >Shit.
  63. “Uh, Rarity go ahead and check out with the nurses, I’ll be right out.” You say, looking to her.
  64. >She rolls her eyes at you, using her magic to fix her mane a bit in the bathroom.
  65. >”Honestly, Anonymous, you take longer than I do to get ready.”
  66. >You don’t want to let her see your hands.
  67. >That’d arouse too many questions.
  68. >You throw on your jacket and sit idly, staring out at the sunlit landscape.
  69. >It’s too bright.
  70. >You take a couple long blinks.
  71. >NO, BRAIN.
  72. >NO SLEEP.
  73. >YOU STILL GOTTA GET HER HOME AT LEAST.
  74. >Rarity exits the bathroom, looking rather pensive at you.
  75. >”I half expected you to be waiting outside for me. If you really needed to go that bad, I’d have let you go in before me.”
  76. “No you wouldn’t.”
  77. >”Who do you take me for, Anonymous? Of course I would have. I’d have used an air freshener spell too. Before and after.”
  78. >She titters quietly at her own joke.
  79. >”Don’t be long, Anonymous. I’ll go check myself out at the counter so we can be out of here sooner rather than later.”
  80. >You go to stand as she opens the door.
  81. >”Oh,” she says, turning to you. “I thank you for patching up my wound last night. I knew I chose the right stallion for the job when I picked you.”
  82. >She winks one of her brilliant blue eyes and exits.
  83. >…Did she see your hands?
  84. >Or does she think that you somehow healed her wound?
  85. >The list of questions without answers seems to be piling high.
  86. >You quickly do your business in the bathroom.
  87. >It seems to be supplied with some sort of magic soap that makes removing the blood a breeze.
  88. >It also smells kind of nice.
  89. >You exit to the hallway, your mind flashing back to last night.
  90. >It’s a lot brighter now, for sure.
  91. >You make a cursory glance to the floor, to see if there’s any trace of blood that you might’ve missed.
  92. >You are greatly relieved that even in your adrenaline-fueled state you were meticulous enough to get it all wiped up.
  93. >You follow the hallway down to the lobby.
  94. >You pass the side-path to the stairwell, when a dinging noise suddenly catches your attention.
  95. >The sliding doors of an elevator open up on the side, followed by a gurney and one of the nurse ponies.
  96. >There’s someone on the gurney, it seems, but they’re covered by… covered by a sheet.
  97. >…You never really acknowledged death to be a thing in Equestria.
  98. >But this is a hospital.
  99. >So even these multicolor magical creatures are not immortal.
  100. >You stand and watch the nurse pony pass you.
  101. >She eyes you with suspicion, but carries on her duties.
  102. >That’s when you notice a bit of the patient’s mane poking out of the top.
  103. >T-that’s the same mane as the pony from upstairs.
  104. >You’re sure of it.
  105. “What happened?” you blurt out to the nurse.
  106. >She pauses a moment, casting you an even more dubious glance.
  107. >”He died last night. He lost a lot of blood, but seemed to have managed to hit the call button before he went. Bless his heart.”
  108. >The pony carries on her business and wheels the gurney down the hallway away from you.
  109. >…Dead?
  110. >Was he dead before you got there?
  111. >What the hell was Rarity doing there?
  112. >You’re too tired for this shit, goddamnit.
  113. >Shaking your head clear of the thoughts you continue to the lobby, where Rarity seems to be filling out some paperwork.
  114. >”You know, I didn’t have to sign any of these forms when I was brought in here.” Rarity quips, her magic holding the little quill above the paper apprehensively.
  115. >”That’s because you were nearly unconscious, maam.” The doctor replies in his affectionately monotone voice.
  116. >She sighs and rolls her eyes as you approach the desk.
  117. “We good to go?”
  118. >”Yes, as soon as I sign these bloody release papers. Honestly, darling, can’t they just have me as ‘Rarity, the most stylish pony in all of Equestria’? Can’t that be enough? I don’t see why they need all of this information.”
  119. “It’s probably a just-in-case kind of thing, Rarity.”
  120. >She huffs in annoyance.
  121. >The doctor waits patiently behind the desk, seemingly eying you up and down.
  122. >”I trust everything went without a hitch last night, Mr…”
  123. “Anonymous. And it did. No problems.”
  124. >”I see. Well I do hope you take better care of your marefriend next time.”
  125. >A small amount of rage builds up inside of you at his crass remark.
  126. >”Doctor, how dare you! Anonymous has been nothing but perfect to me this entire time.”
  127. >He just shrugs as Rarity tosses the clopboard of paper at the desk, stomping out of the hospital.
  128. >”See if I come to this hospital again.” She says, her voice dripping with acid.
  129. >You keep your composure and follow her out.
  130. >You’re entirely too done with this hospital to care.
  131. >Actually hold on a moment.
  132. “Rarity, isn’t this the only hospital in Ponyville?”
  133. >She stops and blinks at you for a moment.
  134. >”Well…I can always go to Canterlot Memorial, you know. It’s further away but it’s worth ten of any of these backwater shanties."
  135. >You roll your eyes as the two of you exit, Rarity seeming to have no issues with walking on her own or anything.
  136. >The two of you decide to just hoof it to Ponyville, since the weather is nice enough and neither of you have to be anywhere for a while.
  137. “So… uh… how are you feeling?”
  138. >”I’m feeling 100% Anonymous, I cannot thank you enough. It seems all that I needed was some rest and I’m back in top shape.”
  139. “Yeah, I have that effect on women.” You lie, with a forced smile.
  140. >”Do you now? Well, I’ll have to sleep with you more often then.” She says with a wide smile.
  141. >Her wit catches you off guard; you forget that Rarity tangles with the elite of Ponyville.
  142. “Well I’ve already slept with you twice, in two different positions. Should I tell them you prefer to be on top?”
  143. >She gives you a suddenly serious glare, nearly freezing you in your tracks.
  144. >”Anonymous, you’re not to tell anyone what happened last night. If they ask, say the party went without a hitch. I simply cannot afford to have this ruin my reputation. You must understand.”
  145. >You nod in agreement.
  146. >Based on what you know, the story would be a bit farfetched for anyone to believe at this point, anyway.
  147. >Maybe.
  148. “Don’t worry Rarity. I doubt anyone would listen to me anyway.”
  149. >This makes her smile, and you feel the corners of your mouth turn up a little as well.
  150. >”Thank you, Anonymous. I… I don’t know what would have happened if you weren’t there for me.” She says, lowering her head a little and pausing.
  151. >The honesty hits you like a rock to the face.
  152. >You don’t know how to react to this.
  153. “H-hey Rarity. It’s alright. I’m glad I was there and uh…whatever. “
  154. >You’re horrible at this.
  155. >She holds her smile for a time, sighing softly.
  156. >”You’re adorable, did you know that?”
  157. “W-what?”
  158. >She starts her trek again, and you follow her.
  159. >You’re not going to argue with her.
  160.
  161. >The two of you chitchat a little bit on the road home.
  162. >Turns out that the two of you pretty much have nothing in common at all.
  163. >Well, she was just as smarmy and sarcastic as you were.
  164. >And…well the two of you had a chance to bond over the period of last night, whether you wanted to or not.
  165. >You can safely say that you may have made a new friend in Rarity.
  166. >Even if the whole situation was surrounded with enough questions to fill a damn filing cabinet.
  167. >Rarity seemed fine though.
  168. >Seemingly the only evidence of anything happening was the shredded remains of Rarity’s dress, and the two round scars on her neck.
  169. >You still wonder how that healed overnight.
  170. >…It wasn’t even overnight was it?
  171. >Eventually the two of you make it to Ponyville proper.
  172. >You actually don’t know how, seeing as how you’re running on 0% sleep and you haven’t eaten since before the party.
  173. >Probably magic, but you think it was because you might still be running on adrenaline.
  174. >Which means your crash is coming up pretty quick.
  175. >It seems like none of the other citizens suspect anything and you’re in the clear.
  176. >But they don’t know what happened.
  177. >And they sure as hell don’t know that it was your fault.
  178. >…but you do.
  179. >The two of you begin to approach Carousel Boutique, the time being somewhere close to midday.
  180. >Rarity stops right before entering her home.
  181. >”While it is nice having a quiet walk, Anon, you seem a little more quiet than normal.”
  182. >You shake yourself out of the trance you were in.
  183. “Oh yeah, sorry. I’m just…tired.”
  184. >Not a lie.
  185. >”Well, why didn’t you just ask for a carriage, rather than walking? I feel as fit as a filly, and you seemed more than agreeable to hoofing it. It helps to speak up, you know.”
  186. “Yeah yeah, I just didn’t want to be a burden.”
  187. >She shakes her head, smiling faintly.
  188. >”If anything, Anonymous, wouldn’t I be the burden? I mean…after all this.”
  189. >You blink in disbelief at her.
  190. “Rarity, you’re not a burden. I mean…yeah I guess I might have thought that when I first took the job. But you’re not nearly as bad as I thought.”
  191. >She laughs, though you can tell she’s trying kind of hard to keep it all in.
  192. “What I’m trying to say is…well…I enjoyed um…spending time with you and stuff. I don’t have a lot of friends or anything.”
  193. >”Are you sure you didn’t just enjoy the parts where I was sleeping on top of you, and you just HAPPENED to have you arm around me?”
  194. >You freeze, your face probably turning red.
  195. >Rarity giggles softly.
  196. >”It was nice, darling. Come see me any time you like, alright?”
  197. >You could ask her about the attack.
  198. >You could ask her a lot of things.
  199. >…but truth be told…you’re entirely too tired for this.
  200. >She winks to you as she closes the door.
  201. >You can talk to her about it later.
  202. >She’s probably just as tired as you are.
  203. >Or at least, she’s internally tired.
  204. >Whatever you want to call it.
  205. >You walk a little bit until you see a bench to sit down on.
  206. >Anywhere will do.
  207. >You’d be lucky if you weren’t going to pass out at this point.
  208. >You’d been an insomniac for a while now.
  209. >Even here, the problem carries on.
  210. >You can get a few hours of sleep, but you tend to always wake up without feeling rested.
  211. >You plant your ass on the bench, the wooden frame creaking noisily as you relax into it.
  212. >Your feet hurt, your head hurts, your eyes hurt, and your brain hurts.
  213. >It’s only a little bit to your house, really.
  214. >…maybe you can pick up some coffee on the way or something.
  215. >”Hey! Anon!”
  216. >You blink open your eyes after a decidedly long blink.
  217. >A blue Pegasus is flapping her wings in front of you, grinning.
  218. >”So… I see you just dropped Rarity off. How’d it go?” she remarks with a suggestive eyebrow waggle.
  219. “Hey Rainbow. It went alright.”
  220. >Her face turns to one of annoyance.
  221. >”Whatta ya mean it was alright! You spent the night with her! I didn’t see you come home!” she chimes, sitting next to you.
  222. >You pause for a moment.
  223. “Rainbow, why were you watching my house?”
  224. >”Well, I wanted to hang out with you, duh.”
  225. >She rolls her eyes as if you were supposed to know that.
  226. “Things got interesting, but nothing crazy happened. She got…a little too tipsy is all. Spent the night at the castle.”
  227. >She brushes up close to you, causing you to flinch slightly.
  228. >”Uh huh. So why do you smell like her perfume, Anon?”
  229. >You grasp your head tightly, the sunlight and annoyance doing nothing to calm your weary nerves.
  230. “Look, Rainbow, I feel like I've been up for days. I’ve maybe an hour of sleep, max, and I’ve not eaten anything since yesterday.”
  231. >She backs off and frowns.
  232. >”You don’t have to get all crabby with me, Anon. Jeez.”
  233. “Sorry, it’s just…been a long night.”
  234. >You rub your eyes and rise to you feet, albeit with your whole body arguing to keep you in that bench.
  235. >”Um…Anon it’s the afternoon.”
  236. “Yeah, see what I mean. I’m going to try and catch some sleep…uh, if you want to hang out or whatever tonight I’ll probably be free.”
  237. >Who are you kidding, of course you’ll be free.
  238. >Wait…Rarity never paid you.
  239. >Actually, you know what, that’s perfectly acceptable.
  240. >100 bits and she ends up raped, beaten, and sleepwalks in the hospital and…
  241. >Nope, not now brain.
  242. ”Cheers, Rainbow. Just knock on the window or whatever.” You say to her, waving lazily as you walk away towards your house.
  243. >”Seeya Anon. Hope you feel better, I guess.”
  244.
  245. >In what feels like hours, you finally are able to drag yourself into your house and collapse on the couch, not even managing it to the bed.
  246. >Through the tiredness and the pain of being awake for so long, your head still aches with a multitude of questions and nonsense involving last night.
  247. >What was with the dead pony? Why was Rarity there?
  248. >Was she vomiting blood? What the hell was up with that?
  249. >And that weird wound on her neck.
  250. >Ugh…this will likely be the most troubled sleep you’d had since you got here.
  251. >She seems okay.
  252. >But something about all of this isn’t sitting right with you.
  253. >You close your tired eyes, the eyelids heavier than ten pound weights.
  254. >Maybe sleep will be kinder to you, then you are to your body.
  255.
  256. >You awake with a jolt.
  257. >Springing up from the couch…all you can see is darkness, engulfed in a foggy haze of smoke.
  258. >What the actual fuck.
  259. >You slide to a seating position on your couch, staring into the void.
  260. “What the actual fuck is this.”
  261. >Wait.
  262. >You can talk?
  263. >But in dreams you can never hear yourself.
  264. “No, seriously, what the hell is this. Is this a hallucination? Because that’d actually make sense.”
  265. >You speak to no one in particular.
  266. >Maybe just so you don’t start freaking out.
  267. >Funnily enough, your tiredness doesn’t seem to transcend to whatever this is.
  268. >You just kind of feel…neutral?
  269. >Can one feel neutral?
  270. >”WE CAN SENSE THE THOUGHTS THAT SWIRL IN YOUR DREAMS, THE ONE THEY CALL ANONYMOUS.” A voice, seemingly female, suddenly booms from seemingly all around you.
  271. >Oh jesus fuck.
  272. “Who the hell is that? And why are you yelling?”
  273. >”YOUR MIND IS ADDLED WITH DANGEROUS THOUGHTS. YOU HAVE WITNESSED SOMETHING DIRE. WE CAN HELP. MEET US AT THE ABANDONED WELL. WE SHALL EXPLAIN.” The voice screams its unfamiliar shout, and echoes into silence.
  274. “What abandoned well? Tonight? Right now? What have I witnessed? The fuck is going on?”
  275. >You’re able to draw in a breath before the darkness of the void seems to implode into you in one brief slam of darkness, knocking you back.
  276.
  277. >You awake on your couch, panting and sweating profusely.
  278. >What
  279. >WHAT WAS ALL THAT
  280. >Was that a nightmare? Because holy shit if that’s an Equestrian nightmare you want nothing of it.
  281. >Your body still seems addled from exhaustion, even though the window outside tells you it is far past darkness.
  282. >Not only that, the nightmare (or whatever it was) has done nothing but jump-start your brain.
  283. >Or you were terrified.
  284. >It could really be both at this point.
  285. >You try and stabilize your breathing for a moment, grabbing a glass of water from the kitchen as your joints pop noisily from exhaustion and misuse.
  286. >This was the roughest couple nights you’d ever had in this crazy world, bar none.
  287. >You shuffle around in your pantry and make a half peanut butter sandwich, to shut your stomach up for a little while.
  288. >He was happy to oblige any amount of food, it seems.
  289. >The voice echoes in your head as you sit down and eat your meager meal.
  290. >What the hell have you witnessed?
  291. >Was she (?) talking about…the thing with Rarity?
  292. >What was dire about that?
  293. >You mean, sure, it was dark and shit but…dire usually involves danger.
  294. >She seemed fine…right?
  295. >Fuck.
  296. >Okay, you win, voice in your head.
  297. >Abandoned well.
  298. >Where the fu-
  299. >*KNOCK KNOCK*
  300. >The sound startles you so fiercely you drop your cup of water and move about a foot to the left, turning to it immediately.
  301. >Oh jesus christ you nearly shit yourself.
  302. >It’s only Rainbow.
  303. >You motion for her to come in, going to get a towel to clean up your mess.
  304. >”You should have seen the look on your face Anon. Sheesh.” She says, opening your door and flittering in.
  305. >”Like you’d seen a ghost or something.”
  306. “Yeah. Something.”
  307. >You wipe up the spill, your heart and mind racing a mile a minute.
  308. >Rainbow enters your house, closing the door behind her quietly.
  309. >”So, did you get your beauty sleep? Ready to hit up some cider?” she exclaims excitedly, flopping down on your couch.
  310. >You take a seat next to her, resting on your knees.
  311. “Not tonight Rainbow. I just had a crazy nightmare and…I’m not really sure what to think of it.”
  312. >”…yeah you don’t look so hot, Anon. Do you want to talk about it?”
  313. “…do you know of an abandoned well somewhere in Ponyville?”
  314. >She looks to you like you’re crazy.
  315. >”Uh…you’re not going to listen to the voices in your head again, are you? Because Ponyville General is right down the road…”
  316. “Ha ha, very funny Rainbow. No, I’m just…something about that nightmare seemed a bit more ominous than normal. I feel kinda compelled, you know?”
  317. >”Well, why don’t we go together? There IS an old well over by Fluttershy’s cottage. It wouldn’t take long if we flew.” She winks at you, grinning an infectious smile.
  318. “I…I think it’s best if I go this one alone, Rainbow. Sorry, I’m not much fun right now, I know.”
  319. >”You’re telling me, Anon. Are you sure everything’s alright? Did Rarity say something to you?”
  320. “No, Rainbow, it’s fine. Rarity’s fine. I just…want the night to myself I guess.”
  321. >She rolls her magenta eyes at you and sighs listlessly.
  322. >”Fine, Anon, have it your way. I’ll catch you later I guess.”
  323. >She hops off of your bed, clearly unhappy.
  324. “Sorry. I promise I’ll make it up to you, alright?”
  325. >”I’ll hold you to it, Anon just…be careful okay?”
  326. >You smile with fake confidence.
  327. “I’m always careful.”
  328. >She exits your house and you can instantly feel the unease in the air.
  329. >Well…nothing better to do other than to just do it.
  330. >With a heavy sigh, you throw on your suit jacket and exit the house, the chill of the evening air catching your skin by surprise.
  331. >You start towards Fluttershy’s cottage, or in the direction you remember it being.
  332. >You’d only been there once before.
  333. >For some reason, she was terrified of you.
  334. >Whatever, no skin off of your back.
  335. >She smelled like a zoo anyway.
  336. >The crunch of fallen leaves beneath your feet is the only sound that echoes through the gentle night.
  337. >Find the well.
  338. >Figure it out from there.
  339. >So much for brilliant plans.
  340. >But it was far better than having no answers and no one to turn to.
  341. >…what if it was dangerous?
  342. >So what if it was dangerous.
  343. >If it was something that involved Rarity and included a fancy word like ‘dire’ then it’s your responsibility to figure it out.
  344. >This was your doing.
  345. >You continue on the path, the moonlight providing the sole source of any kind of ambience to the walk.
  346. >Gotta find that well.
  347. >Your eyes dart around, looking for some form of purchase in the dark.
  348. >Alas, all that surrounds you is is the dimly lit gloom of night.
  349. >…this was a bad idea.
  350. >You didn’t have a flashlight.
  351. >And if you’re supposed to go down the well, you don’t have rope.
  352. >You scratch your head frustratedly.
  353. >Goddamnit Anonymous.
  354. “Hey, mysterious voice. You mind giving me a hand here?” you call to the darkness, crossing your mind as the wind plays with your coat.
  355. >Almost on cue, you’re engulfed in dark smoke, the moonlight fading from vision in an instant.
  356. >Your body feels like its being dumped in cold water for a brief instant before your vision clears and the sensation fades.
  357. >Funky.
  358. >You stand in a circular clearing, seemingly underground.
  359. >Sure enough, there’s the well entrance above you.
  360. >There’s a pair of torches in front of you, lit and burning bright.
  361. >You grab one and take a look around.
  362. >There’s a small passageway behind you.
  363. “Thank you, mysterious voice?” you call to no one in particular, half heartedly giggling.
  364. >Your heart was pounding something fierce.
  365. >What the fuck is going on?
  366. >You continue down the passage for a bit, in silence.
  367. >Not even the wind penetrates this catacomb, it seems.
  368. >Nothing but the burning of the little torch to accompany you.
  369. >You’re met with a door, finally.
  370. >It seems of heavy wooden construction, adorned with what’s probably iron braces.
  371. >You suddenly kind of feel like you’re playing D&D all of the sudden.
  372. >Torches, and voices, and adventures.
  373. >Your stomach reminds you that you should probably get on with it.
  374. >There is a small moon shaped knocker on the front of the door, which you promptly rap a few times.
  375. >Who needs caution, right?
  376. >The door unlocks and opens, revealing a strange sight.
  377. >The chamber is large, much bigger than you had thought it’d be.
  378. >It’s crafted of hewn stone, lined with the same torches.
  379. >Two ponies, wearing dark hoods and robes stand guard aside a simple stone throne at the adjacent end of the room.
  380. >Upon the throne sits another pony, of a dark bluish purple.
  381. >Her ethereal mane is visible even from here.
  382. >You go to take a step forward, and are immediately surrounded by the two robed figures.
  383. >”DO NOT BE ALARMED, ANONYMOUS.” She calls from across the room, her voice booming through the stone chamber.
  384. “I’m pretty alarmed.”
  385. >”Strong limbs. Tall stature. Physique optimal.”
  386. “Yeah, I’m human.” You say, a bit wary as their hooded gaze looks you over creepily.
  387. >”He seems to have fangs, your highness.”
  388. “No, they’re not fangs. They’re just my teeth. I eat meat. Or well, I used to eat meat I guess.”
  389. >”His eyes are normal colored. Though they seem lethargic. He may be ill.”
  390. “I’m fine, I’m just tired is all. What the hell is this about?
  391. >”WE ARE AWARE THAT HE IS TIRED. HE DOES NOT JOIN OUR DREAMSCAPE AS OFTEN AS WE WOULD LIKE. ALLOW HIM TO APPROACH.”
  392. >The two figures step back from you, and you brush yourself off.
  393. >You approach the figure and immediately make a few observations.
  394. >She has wings and a horn…which means she’s an alicorn. Just like Celestia. So that must mean she is…
  395. > WE ARE PRINCESS LUNA. WE-”
  396. >”Princess, please, can we quit it with the shouting? I’m already fighting off sleep deprivation as it is.”
  397. >This catches her off guard, causing her to smile ever so faintly.
  398. “We apologize, Anonymous. We did not mean to cause you any harm. We have heard of you from our sister, Celestia. We see that you are enjoying your stay in Ponyville?”
  399. “Yeah, it’s fine I guess. What the hell was all that about?”
  400. >”There is a reason that we have called you to us, Anonymous. We have reason to believe that you already know why.” She replies, ignoring your question.
  401. “Is… is it about Rarity?” you reply, your voice a tad shaky.
  402. >She nods solemnly.
  403. >”Yes, Anonymous. Generosity is in danger, and you are the sole witness. We have gleaned this from your troubled sleep. We apologize for waking you, but if an Element of Harmony is in danger then the Kingdom itself may be as well.”
  404. “Wait, I just dropped her off at her house. She seemed fine.”
  405. >”There is more than meets the eye to this tale, Anonymous. If you would, please tell us what happened. Spare no detail.”
  406. >Her servants bring forth a little uncomfortable wooden stool as you begin to relay your story.
  407. >You breathe a heavy sigh, starting from when you lost her at the party.
  408. >Over the course of the conversation, she says little, only stopping you to clarify certain things.
  409. >Blood color, the wound on her neck, her odd sleep patterns.
  410. >As you finish telling her the tale, ending with today, she closes her eyes and sighs deeply.
  411. >”It is just as we feared. We are afraid that it would come to this, sooner or later… but to involve one of the Elements of Harmony…”
  412. “What. That it’d come to what. What does all of this mean?”
  413. >She glares at you with a steely gaze, any modicum of pleasantness immediately gone from her face.
  414. >”Anonymous… we implore you to take a step back and think on what you have told me. You know more than you let on.”
  415. >You know more than you let on?
  416. >How could Rarity be in danger?
  417. >She was attacked…and something got her in the neck pretty bad.
  418. >She ended up sleepwalking and passed out in a…in a puddle of blood.
  419. >Then there was some on her mouth and… the wound healed overnight.
  420. >Oh god.
  421. >No.
  422. >The Princess likely notices your sudden change in demeanor.
  423. >”We see that you have pieced it together, Anonymous.”
  424. “I… no. It can’t be…” you stammer in disbelief.
  425. >She nods, her gaze boring into you with determination.
  426. “Anonymous, Rarity has been bitten by a creature that you would call a vampire.”
