So I think I just realized why politics is so weird now
so like what social media has become is a medium where like
not just normal people but like important, powerful people are starting to use it
so before where interactions with these people wouldn't change the actual course of policy and stuff
but now like if a politician writes something on twitter and it gets absolutely no interaction at all its probably gonna end up shaping the news cycle and changing the political discourse so that even if they wanted to do what they wrote about now they cant
and like if you lived in a super small government in real life you would have had that same ability to shape how things become in terms of how your city or whatever operated
so its like all government is small government now
and on the other side like with social stuff its almost the same because now small social interactions between large groups of people all congregated onto the same place (online) means you can shape how culture develops and so everyone is vying for a way to change things to be how they think it should be
everything is political and all politics is local politics
