Something of a celebrity around the murky bayous where he makes his abode, Lagoon is past his prime and spends most of his time performing in his cajun-style band as the lead vocalist and guitar player. Formerly a classic family man, his wife passed shortly after the birth of his daughter, who 20 years later has gone onto become an international pop star whose popularity has long since eclipsed her dad's. As she rarely has time to visit anymore, Lagoon feels somewhat empty inside leading to one hell of a midlife crisis to deal with.

This monstrous crocodile has had a rocky relationship with human visitors, primarily having a long-standing rivalry with the D Pirates, who have a habit of setting up their plots within his territory, and kidnapping the bestial citizens within. With his obscene strength, Lagoon is often successful in foiling the pirates whenever they mess around, leading Captain D to consider Lagoon a longtime enemy, having a multitude of duels to the death over the years, which due to the insane endurance by both parties, never results in either ones demise.

  11. Gameplay: Joining Sanjit as the only other heavyweight in the game so far, Lagoon is a force to be reckoned with. Despite slow attacking speed, Lagoon has unmatched maneuverability around the stage when his tools are used properly. He can swim in the ground and the air, roll into an invulnerable ball, and set up lakes in the ground to jump out of. His meaty claws are capable of holding crates that he brings out of hammerspace, with 1/10 of the crates being chock full of explosives, and can either toss em or place them on the ground for later use. He doesn't really have much in the way of combos, with all of his attacks having too much knockback for that sort of thing to be feasible, but he can still easily follow up by taking advantage of an opponent's opening.

  21. Off on the mountainous coasts of Paleta lie a vast colony of small, blob-like insects called Vespians. Vespians make their homes in massive colonies called hives, which look like normal waspoid hives except they're much larger and more technically proficient, combining elements of both mechanical and biological technology to create sweeping airborne skyships of various sizes, decorated with hive patterns and sweeping interconnected pathways to each hive.
  22. Vespians themselves are about 1-2 inches tall, and biologically are far too weak to deal with the viscious monsters it shares their habitats with. So instead the Vespians use their advanced technology to create giant (by their standard) units called Megascoles. A marvel of biological technology, Megascoles are similar in construction to Vespian hives, being part machine and part organism to create one terrifying killing machine. Megascoles are controlled in part by its own biological brain, harvested by combining multiple dead female Vespian worker brain matter, and a Vespian pilot to keep it in control. There are about 500 Megascoles situated around the world, and unlike normal Vespian behavior, Megascoles are sent out as individual units due to their high cost, as only one hive colony can afford one at a time.

Among other parties, a Megascole is classified as a WMD; A single one has been shown capable of absurd destruction if left in an uncontrolled state, with a particularly suicidal one being shown on record of destroying itself and an entire city district in Shazan, resulting in thousands of deaths and causing Vespians to be considered an existential threat by the Shazan order.

  25. Rubine is but one of many of these destructive biomechanical wonders, and is thus engineered to be cold, distant, and solely focused on the task at hand. Still, some Megascoles can't help but grow bizarre relationships with one another, considering some rivals, friends, and even lovers, but there's an ever bitter feeling that they'll never be able to truly live these aspirations to the fullest due to their engineered purpose in life. The many past lives amalgamated to create a Megascole brain can often cause them to grow confused, have flashbacks, and in the worst cases, go completely berserk as in the case of the suicide bomber.

  27. Gameplay: Rubine is a speedy combo/rekka character who has enough mobility and firepower to back up her already formidable melee prowess. The more damage Rubine takes, the more unhinged it gets, becoming more ruthless and powerful as their stock goes on. At over 100%, Rubine can access more moves and zoom across the stage at lightning speeds. Of course, she also becomes a lot harder to control in this state, and will sometimes attack on her own accord. In a sense, you're more playing the Vespian in control of Rubine rather than Rubine herself.
  28. Rubine can fire Itano Missles from her abdomen and wings, which vary between strong missiles that fly straight ahead and weaker missiles that home in on the opponent. Her powerful limbs can hit the opponent repeatedly, resulting in different combo mixups depending on what button combinations you press. Her Vespa kick is functionally similar to an aerial falcon kick, but grows stronger and stronger depending on how high you perform it from; and as an example of a move being changed in berserk mode, it instead becomes a command grab while berserk, making her rip at the opponent while pinned down.
