- Hololive presents: Hoshimachi Suisei's Music Space!
- Good evening everyone!
- Appearing like a comet in the night,
- a star in the making,
- I'm the idol VTuber, Hoshimachi Suisei!
- This program features
- Hololive's virtual idol, Hoshimachi Suisei:
- a songstress-to-be whose voice
- resounds through the stars
- putting wishes and dreams into song.
- Just starting and already,
- I'm close to messing up my lines!
- Anyway, it's my new radio program
- on Bunka Housou, Chou A&G+!
- *cheering*
- The script here says "woohoo"
- but I have no idea whether it means
- I have to say it or
- someone plays a sound effect--
- And the staff is just nodding "uh huh",
- so I guess I was supposed to say it!
- Okay!
- Up 'til now, I've had a lot of
- solo talk streams on Youtube before,
- but this is the first time
- I'm doing an actual radio program.
- I'm so nervous!
- I was almost fumbled my lines!
- I thought I could pull it off because
- I could handle my streams easily
- but now that I'm here...
- So nervous...
- Okay, moving on!
- When I was first invited to do a radio program,
- I asked "Me? Really? Are you sure?"
- It's such an honor!
- This is Bunka Housou!
- There's 70 years of history right there!
- And I've been an avid listener of Chou A&G+!
- Moving on.
- First off, you must all be thinking,
- "Who the heck are you?!"
- So I'd like to announce-- Announce?!
- I'd like to introduce myself!
- I'm just going to
- read right off the script:
- Says right here,
- "Since when has Hoshimachi Suisei been active?"
- Well, so, let's get to the introducing.
- In terms of actual activity,
- since 2018 -- two years ago -- on March 22.
- It's April 5 today, so pretty close.
- It being March 22nd means that
- I've been active for two whole years.
- Early on, I introduced myself
- as a songstress-to-be,
- so I sang some songs and stuff,
- also played some games,
- and then some free talk like this too.
- I've done a variety of things!
- Things I like...
- Errr... Idol anime, I suppose.
- iDOLM@STER... That's a must.
- Have you all seen THE iDOLM@STER?
- Watch it.
- I became an idol because
- I wanted to become like the girls in iDOLM@STER.
- That's just how much I love it.
- Others, hmm...
- What else, PriPara? Do you guys know that?
- This one isn't exactly idols, but (Kiratto) PriChan.
- Also, LoveLive!
- And also, Ensemble Stars!
- I love that stuff, idol anime.
- My personality...
- As you can tell, listening up 'til now,
- I'm uhh *laughs* an idol with a bit of a potty mouth.
- Everyone tells me to fix that but well,
- this is who I am!
- I just-- I've been holding myself back today,
- but when I play games and stuff...
- Let's say, I get shot by someone and it's game over,
- I often scream, "Huh?! You stupid--! Dammit!"
- That's not good!
- I see the staff is also laughing!
- So if you want a one-sentence summary of Hoshimachi Suisei--
- at least that's what the script says--
- In short!
- An idol who is nothing like an idol.
- I'll be talking about all sorts of stuff after this!
- Okay, let's begin!
- Hololive Presents: Hoshimachi Suisei's Music Space!
- What a cool jingle...
- Hi again! This is Hoshimachi Suisei!
- This being the first broadcast
- I'd like to continue my introduction.
- And for that, I have something to help!
- Hoshimachi Suisei: Ask 10!
- Eh? Wait, what was that just now...?
- Okay! I'll ask myself questions, then answer them
- like some kind of soliloquy.
- First! How does everyone call me?
- Everyone calls me "Sui-chan"!
- Even I sometime s refer to myself in the third person:
- "Sui-chan did this, Sui-chan did that"
- I often say it, and everyone else followed suit.
- Actually, I have no other nickname!
- Like using anything else is heresy!
- I'd love to know of any other nice nicknames.
- Second! Any artists and songs you like?
- So for artists...
- I've been saying this for a while now
- but I like Shiina Ringo and Utada Hikaru.
- A long time ago, my mom would play
- Utada Hikaru CDs in the car all the time.
- I listened to /Automatic/ a ton.
- It's Au To Ma Tic!
- It's so nostalgic, I remember
- the smell of the car just by hearing the song.
- As for Shiina Ringo...
- It was when I grew up and started watching Youtube
- I was like, "Wow her songs are really good!"
- Her, I discovered on my own.
- The duet song with Shiina Ringo and Utada Hikaru is so good
- please listen to it.
- Also...
- Well!
- Those who listened to
- my earlier introduction would know
- but I really like anime!
- I binge on songs from
- iM@S and EnSta!
- and buy a ton of CDs
- Okay third!
- "What are some songs you've sung before?"
- So this...
- Songs from iM@S...
- I've just sung a ton of anime songs.
- Bluebird from Naruto -- that's Naruto right?
- Also songs from Macross--
- I haven't published song covers exactly
- but I often cover them in my singing streams.
- They're basically karaoke streams
- where I sing a bunch.
- I often sing Macross songs there.
- As for the most popular song cover
- there's this movie, "Promare".
- superfly sang a song for it, titled "Kakusei"
- and I covered that.
- This one's already passed a million views in my song covers.
- Please listen to it...
- A&G fans -- all you otaku -- go listen to it!
- Gotta self-promote!
- Next, fourth:
- "What songs do you want to cover?"
- Mmm, I still haven't posted a Shiina Ringo cover.
- I've sung her stuff in karaoke streams but...
- Well.
- I just haven't gotten to posting a proper video.
- Okay, fifth!
- "What is an 'idol' to you?"
- Now we're getting deep!
- The definition of an idol!
- I've wanted to talk about this on my streams
- but never found the chance.
- I don't think there's
- an actual, rigid definition
- of what makes an idol, an "idol".
- So in my beloved Ensemble Stars!
- there is this character, Tenshouin Eichi.
- The protagonist-like person asks him
- "Just what is an idol?"
- And he replies grandiosely
- on the same sense of what the cosmos is
- or how the earth came to be
- and I was like, "Yeah same!"
- And that got me thinking:
- What defines an idol isn't that clear-cut.
- I mean, heck
- if there is even one fan who considers someone an idol
- then aren't they already an idol?
- There's AKB, probably the penultimate idol group:
- the nation's idol.
- But then in school, you've got people,
- they get referred to as "the idol of class 3-whatever".
- That's an idol too!
- I don't think singing and dancing makes an idol.
- Doesn't being loved by someone make you an idol?
- At least, that's what I think.
- So anyway.
- People tell me I'm not a very idol-like idol--
- 'cause I swear a bunch and all--
- they tell me that, but there is a huge breadth of idols!
- Really.
- There are infinite possibilities.
- There are as many definitions of an idol
- as there are kinds of people.
- So Sui-chan is also an idol!
- Okay!
- So sixth question:
- "What is Hoshimachi Suisei's dream?"
- So when...
- When I first began posting to Youtube--
- They say your first upload to Youtube
- is your VTuber debut.
- So if you mean my dream from that time
- then my dream...
- Well, I said that it would be (performing at) Budokan!
- I have this image that an idol's dream should be Budokan.
- Maybe this radio program on Bunka Housou
- can be my first step to Budokan?
- That sounds good!
- Seventh:
- "Your thoughts on your 3D live in March?"
- Yes, early March -- March 1!
- I performed a 3D live, to celebrate my 3D model.
- Before anything, those of you listening
- might be wondering, "3D? Huh?"
- So let me explain a little.
- Look at me!
- Some of you are probably thinking
- "Move your dang arms already!"
- "Why can you only move side to side?!"
- See, us VTubers are pretty restricted
- in our range of motion, usually.
- It's like a limiter, so to speak.
- But there are times when that limit is broken.
- And we refer to those moments as "3D".
- When we become 3D, we can move our arms, legs
- and even move back and forth.
- So we can just move all over.
- The camera is able to recognize me
- in the three dimensions.
- With the camera we're using now,
- I can't move as much.
- So I was finally able to become 3D
- and we were showcasing that.
- Generally when Hololive members showcase
- their 3D, they play things like uhh...
- Twister? Did someone do that?
- They'd do stuff like that
- and bring in guests and
- hit each other on the butt with foam bats...
- Wow, Hololive is crazy!
- Anyway, they'd do stuff like that.
- In my case, I love to sing.
- So I did a full showcase
- of singing and dancing
- in the format of a live concert.
- So my thoughts on that...
- Ahh yes...
- The one thing that I'd have to say:
- It was way too frantic!
- There was so much stuff to do.
- The worst was that this song I was gonna sing
- I suddenly couldn't do it anymore
- because of reasons.
- I was practicing the dance to go with that song
- but it all went up in smoke.
- Plus, I only found out about it
- five days before the performance.
- Like oh my god only 5 days left...!
- And I had to learn a new dance.
- So I only had 5 days left to pick a new song...
- And learn the song, and learn the dance.
- So the eighth question:
- "Any problems you had while writing lyrics?"
- So I-- My third original song,
- NEXT COLOR PLANET -- it played a bit in the opening.
- It just released recently.
- I wrote the lyrics to that.
- The difficulties with the 3D live
- and writing lyrics are pretty interconnected.
- As for why--
- The deadline for the lyrics was exactly
- on the day of the live, March 1.
- Like, I have this performance!
- But I have to write the lyrics!
- It was just so frantic!
- That was the worst part of it all.
- It was also my first time writing lyrics.
- I mean I'd always wanted to write lyrics
- and I had some ideas floating around already
- but well... it was harder than I thought!
- Like, maintaining coherence...
- Good diction alone doesn't make for good lyrics.
- But just writing poetically doesn't work either.
- It's so hard, every step of it!
- Writing verses, making it rhythmic;
- choosing words with the right cadence was tough.
- What I was most conscious about
- when writing the lyrics
- was keeping a rhyme.
- So this song...
- The first verse has a line "pocket ni tsumekonde".
- But in the second verse, it's "comet ga nagaretara".
- I made pocket and comet rhyme!!
- This is some big brain genius stuff!
- I'm really proud of that.
- Also ending lines with the
- same vowel sounds in the chorus...
- I was conscious of that.
- Bascially, I worked really hard on it!
- Oh, also I'm terrible at English
- but because I wanted to cram English words in
- I couldn't figure out what words
- all the way until the recording.
- I just put parentheses saying "(cute english phrase)".
- All the way until the recording!
- And then on the day of, me and the composers
- figured something out on the spot.
- Okay, question nine!
- "Any VTubers you're close with?"
- So ones I'm close with...
- Within Hololive...
- I mean, we're all good friends so it's hard
- to single someone out, but...
- Let's see.
- Ones I hang out with often are
- 1st gen Natsuiro Matsuri;
- 1st gen Akai Haato;
- also 1st gen Shirakami Fubuki;
- and 3rd gen Shiranui Flare;
- 4th gen Amane Kanata.
- Outside of Hololive, from Nijisanji--
- Inui Toko -- we're good friends.
- We can just turn off our brains
- and do stupid things.
- If you have the time, please watch them!
- Tenth! What do I want to do in this program?
- Well!
- Going to Budokan! Thanks!
- Okay, that was a lot of questions answered!
- Have you learned a bit more about me now?
