1554 •  ___, a dunesfolk lalafell was born to a struggling family in __, thanalan.

1557 • rescued by a brass blade named matoto mato, the abandoned child was discovered near the golden bazaar and brought to camp drybone for medical aid.

it had become commonplace for children to be abandoned as there as it was just off of beaten path of a trading path that was becoming less and less populated. there were also check points in place that were critical of ala mhigan refugees bringing too many children. many of these found children were brought to camp drybone and were unofficially adopted by the residents as a community. all in all makotoh grew up with about 13 brothers and sisters of mostly hyur, lalafell, and miqo’te descent.

because her age was unknown at the time she was brought to camp drybone and given her size as a lalafell, she was assumed to be a year old when she was actually closer to 3 or 4. she didn’t know how to speak well, nor did she know her own name or age, so they simply went along with their assumption.

1572 • 7th umbral calamity. makotoh was 18 years old. for most of the destruction she was in the church basement looking after the other children.

the destruction she witnessed was mostly on a societal level. local trade routes were destroyed and many people were displaced, injured, and suffering from trauma. the church and camp drybone opened its doors to all, acting as a triage and safe place for people to rest and look for any of their lost family and friends. makotoh spent years after this in a blur, working tirelessly to tend to the seemingly perpetual wave of the injured and homeless, as well as newly orphaned children. she was cooking, giving medical care and helping the church, which had become inundated with bodies that needed to be prepared and buried.  father illud was so busy giving last rites and funerals that it left much of the grunt work to civilians. to keep up with the funerals, makotoh was taught the prayers and rituals necessary to perform a funeral. there were many funerals she performed where she was the only one in attendance. while she already had a somewhat hardened outlook on life, the years following the calamity brought on a very familiar relationship and casual acceptance of death. while she felt it was necessary to help her community as much as it was needed, she never lost sight of her ambitions to study in la noscea.

1576 • makotoh matoh leaves for limsa lominsa to study in the arcanist’s guild.

1577 • the echo appears and fucks up all the shit.
