  1. Guidelines proposal:
  2. --------------------
  3.
  4. Guidelines are used to tell players the reasoning of why glitches are (dis)allowed for NMG and RMG. And it can
  5. help mods classify future glitches. They do not explicitly allow or deny glitches, they are more like "meta rules",
  6. vague rules on how current and future rules should be like. We keep explicitly allowing or disallowing glitches in
  7. NMG and RMG.
  8.
  9.
  10. No Major Glitches (NMG):
  11. ------------------------
  12.
  13. This is meant to be played like an optimized casual playthrough, allowing some glitches and some sequence breaking.
  14.
  15. The allowed glitches should generally pass the eye test, not be too complicated, and should generally not allow big
  16. sequence breaks like doing Dark World dungeons before Master Sword or GTower without all crystals.
  17.
  18. Any% NMG and All Dungeons NMG should be the same run.
  19.
  20. 1. You should remain inbounds at all times, not using any glitches or techniques to pass through (either partially or
  21. totally) dungeon or overworld walls/cliffs in an unintended manner. Passing through interior features such as
  22. rails, spikes, and blocks is acceptable.
  23.
  24. 2. No transitions, both on overworld and underworld, should be corrupted, e.g. interrupting the screen transition, or
  25. interrupting Link falling/being dragged into the next room in a natural way.
  26.
  27. 3. Any transition should be intended by the developers, and should have Link end up in the screen the developers
  28. intended him to end up in.
  29.
  30. 4. We should not utilize any means to place ourselves on an unintended layer or improperly transition between valid
  31. layers ("Exploration Glitch.")
  32.
  33. 5. Source requirement for items, bosses and crystals.
  34.
  35. 6. We should have all crystals and open GTower up normally. We should also beat Eastern Palace, Desert Palace and
  36. Hera Tower to get the Master Sword, and before entering ATower/doing any Dark World dungeons.
  37.
  38.
  39.
  40. Restricted Major Glitches (RMG):
  41. --------------------------------
  42.
  43. - Glitches:
  44. * Out of Bounds
  45. * Overworld Transition Corruption (OW YBA/Mirror warp/screen wrap etc)
  46.
  47. Unlike No Major Glitches, any sequence breaks on the overworld are basically allowed (f.ex. GTower early).
  48.
  49. However, as this tier is meant to be a "gateway" to glitched ALttP, i.e. the typical NMG runner's first dip in glitches,
  50. the glitches should still not be too complicated to do. A lot of players that enjoys this tier does not enjoy the
  51. Unrestricted ruleset, mostly because it's a lot harder to learn, understand and execute. So one major goal when defining
  52. the ruleset is to not lose these players.
  53.
  54. 1. Sequence breaking is encouraged, making the runs more distinct from NMG.
  55.
  56. 2. No transitions in the underworld should be corrupted, e.g. interrupting the screen transition, or interrupting Link
  57. falling/being dragged into the next room in a natural way.
  58.
  59. 3. Jumping straight to Ganon is not allowed. Any% will always need to open the pyramid to get to Ganon.
  60.
  61. 4. You may not utilize any means to place yourself on an unintended layer or to improperly transition between layers.
  62. ("Exploration Glitch.")
  63.
  64.
  65. Unrestricted Major Glitches (UMG):
  66. ----------------------------------
  67.
  68. - Glitches:
  69. * Exploration Glitch (meaning specifically unintended layer/layer change)
  70. * Plaid World
  71. * Underworld Transition Corruption (YBA, Somaria, Quadrant, Deathhole, Jingle, Mirror transition, ..)
  72. * Underworld Wrong Warp (Ganon pot, Somaria glitch holes)
  73. * Misslotting level 2 (Hookclip, Hookpush, OW Conveyor)
  74.
  75. Meant to be an "anything goes" category, where defining goals is what makes the runs interesting, not restricting rules.
  76.
  77. 1. Things that can lead to ACE or similar power should not be allowed.
  78.
  79. 2. Things that are not possible on console or with normal controller should not be allowed.
  80.
  81. 3. Doing any kind of manipulation of RAM before the run starts is not allowed.
  82.
  83.
  84. Global bans:
  85. ------------
  86. - Ram preparation before runs
  87. - Misslotting level 3
  88. - Up+Down/Left+Right
  89. - Turbo
