Reasoning: With events leading to Kabege realizing he had been stagnant over the course of time, he seeks out the "aid" of his comrade, Gin. He requested that they both fight as if they meant to kill one another, in order to simulate the gritty combat that a Saiyan would experience out in the field. He could only ask Gin to accomplish this, as he was confident that his once long-time rival would not have the remorse to hold back at all. They had been relatively even in previous fights, but Kabege had won out when they had clashed previously. With a definitive victory being acquired by Gin, he butchered Kabege to the point where he was mortally wounded and seizing upon the sand. While this was a 'manual' simulation, the damage is certainly real enough to leave Kabege bed-ridden for some time, as he would have to steadily treat the massive wounds that now encumber and cripple him profusely.
