- [appeal] https://epicmafia.com/report/240006 Hello I am amicable civil guy Heck who has never trolled, but I have been wrongfully given a trolling violation by charlie. I am filing this genuine appeal as I have not trolled whatsoever in this game mentioned. It is my personal belief that charlie has made this judgement on this report as a grudge, and there is plenty of evidence suggesting this is so. Firstly, there are 77 open reports, and charlie opts to handle this report shortly after it was created. I do not find this fair, as there are similar-type reports open going days back, up to 14 days. Charlie clearly cannot be bothered to handle these reports as they are out of her league, however as anon as she sees a report on me she clicks on it immediately and issues me a 2nd trolling violation. The most likely possibility is that what happened was charlie did not bother to read the game in its entirety and just assumed I was trolling. As charlie issued me my first trolling violation a month ago, she just instantly assigned me a second trolling violation, as she commented on the report in question "You have been warned about your play style in the past". This is clearly charlie's only way of determining that I was trolling; the mere fact that she handed me a trolling violation earlier. This was used as a blatant excuse, because in other reports where these types of violations are given, charlie has not made any comment or explanation. Clearly, this was not trolling, and as such charlie has to tell the world this excuse. If I really were trolling, why would charlie have to bring up a past violation? If you see a dead body on the ground with a bullet hole in its chest, crime investigations take place. Nobody is instantly assumed guilty unless they're holding a gun. How do these crime investigations take place, and what do they do? I can tell you for sure that, for starters, they don't go back and look at people with criminal records and say "Hey, this guy shot someone before, it could have been him!" and lock him up without thinking. That never happens. The investigation team would obviously look into the details. And not just the tiny details, but the big pictures, such as who was around that person when they were there, shot dead instantly. The moral of the story is that charlie is taking advantage of her powers, in my personal opinion, and using the fact that I have allegedly trolled (alleged by herself, might I add) to come to the instantaneous decision that I was trolling. In terms of the actual game, we must first establish the rules. It is known that a lot of people quote the rules page for little details when filing an appeal, however in this case it rings true as it should be clear that I was not trolling. "Antagonizing other players" it starts off. We know for sure that I was not antagonising other players throughout this specific game as I was not acting in hostility whatsoever and was being more-or-less friendly for the entirety of the game. Read on; "disrupting gameplay through actions or communications" - I was not at all disrupting gameplay through actions nor communications. In terms of communications, I was not communicating directly with anyone for the most part, so this cannot be the part that is considered trolling. In terms of actions, I was definitely not disrupting gameplay either, because I was not changing votes/spamming votes, spamming in general, or anything of the likes. The only possibility to be considered here would be that my fakeclaims were disrupting gameplay. However, with a quick read of the game, it is clear that they were not. The plan was quite clearly to be be read by mafia as blacksmith. D2 confirmed mafia was being bw'ed and I claimed blacksmith. I was anticipating being killed or hooked (if I was hooked, the cop would live), however this was not the case, merely because the reporter, dr3amer, took too long to figure out that he needed to vest the cop to prevent blatant gamethrowing. Afterwards, there is clearly nothing that disrupts gameplay as I was continuously defending myself. However, I was wrong on my hard fos - this was because dr3amer lied about who he had vested d1, and as such I had no way of acquiring accurate reads. Yes, my incorrect fos was determined earlier in the day, but it was assured by the act of dr3amer lying about who he had vested d1, and I could not think to change my reads because dr3amer was practically making my fos into my cc. Reading more into the trolling rule; "or otherwise playing to get negative reactions from other players." Hopefully the average person can tell that literally nothing throughout this game that I have said was intending to get negative reactions. There were several elements that were intended as jokes, and I do not believe anyone was offended or negatively impacted. Therefore, we can rule this out. "Hipfiring can also fall under GT/Trolling depending on intent/scenario and is moderated on a case to case basis with discretion" is pretty self explanatory as I was not sheriff and therefore not hipfiring. So, maybe there's another line to the epicmafia definition of trolling that completely sums up my alleged trolling? "Low contrast colours that are difficult to read also falls under trolling at the discretion of a moderator.". Looks like we can put away the full definition of trolling and focus on the actual game, because I do not have any chat colours because I, unlike the majority of people on this site, don't waste mazuma online. Back to the game, I started the d1 by claiming sheriff and asking for a vest. This was purely in hopes of both receiving a vest as town and being hooked or killed by mafia, thinking I was pr. I also scumread soda for instantly voting me as I had some apparently false meta in the back of my head of soda voting me instantly when he is mafia. Clearly this does not ring true and it was my mistake. I then proceed to claim sheriff and ask for a vest, because I am most certain that hopelessness will not shoot me on the basis of me claiming sheriff, since mafia never genuinely cc's sheriff. I then proceed to make it clear that my claim is fake, and steer into a joking play style as i say "no?" "i never fake claim?" and then continue to rant about playing "fair and rhombus" which was improvised wordplay on the phrase "fair and square", replacing the shape, square, with an alternative shape. In this case, the shape was rhombus, however there have been known instances of me having replaced square with shapes other than rhombus. I exaggerate the worth of this phrase, and this is when it really becomes clear that I am not sheriff. I then ask oIdschool to vote nl, as they are taking an unnecessarily long time to do so. I then suggest we "kicklynch the afk" - the afk being oIdschool. OIdschool was not afk, however this is simply a strategy I use to let a player know that they should hurry up and vote. This is especially used as a scare tactic on newer players such as oIdschool may be. I then fos oIdschool for blatantly softing pr, and as far as I am aware he is too much of a newb to be blue wifoming, and not enough of a newb to actually be pr. Because of this, I immediately assumed he was mafia. I also fos 78u, who does end up being mafia. The following day, I claim cop with inno on dead. This claim was obviously fake because it was copy/pasted inside a shoulder shrugging emoticon, and thus I could not have been cop. I fakeclaimed in order to faze whoever was planning on ccing cop. It is often easy to watch the mafia bubble awkwardly after my claim, but I have been guiltied due to this once or twice. I retract after 78u claims cop and is uncced for 5 seconds, and promise that I am town. I then go afk for a short period of time to absolutely and extensively read for mafia. OIdschool states "I might be pr" which triggers me to remember my previous reads of him being lawyer who was going to cc pr as mafia. Then, oIdschool towntells hard and I change my reads straight to 78u being mafia (which is correct). I desperately ask for 78u to be shot, and they are indeed shot. The town then votes to lynch elephantasm, the cop's guilty report. As blacksmith wouldn't need to claim here, but oIdschool wrongfully asks for blacksmith to out, I claim blacksmith and tell him to check outside of me. I begin to say who I think the last mafia is, but as I am at a loss for accurate reads, I jokingly proclaim "sheriff" and claim that the sheriff is mafia, because I simply did not want my sentence to remain unfinished. After establishing reads later on, specifically I tell him to check my scumread, who unfortunately happens to be blacksmith, but this does not matter because the cop ends up dying. I fosed the blacksmith, dr3amer, because they were refusing to vote the confirmed mafia and asking why we were lynching them. I read this as an attempt at weak wifom where you pretend that you are unaware of your partner being confirmed mafia, and you take a painfully long time to vote/realise this. This has definitely been done before in previous games I have played. I proclaim "ah zoink" when the cop ends up dying. This was clearly not my plan, as I was expecting to be hooked and there should have been no way of telling that dr3amer was the blacksmith. I mistakenly fos greninja over zippy, and end up tunnelling him. I then prove my intelligence by saying how dr3amer would blame the loss on me after lynching me, which he did, and he reported me for this. I clearly pleaded for life and to not be lynched at timestamps 16:47, 17:02 and 17:49. Additionally, dr3amer lies by saying they vested greninja d1, leading me to fully believe that greninja was mafia, for not outing their vest. I then clearly appear uncomfortable in the graveyard chat upon finding out that greninja wasn't mafia and that I was wrong. Even dr3amer questions how the mafia knew that they were blacksmith and not me. The sheriff then mishammers, and dr3amer, for some obscure reason, blames it on me by saying 23:30 "its all heck and his trolling" and uses this as an excuse to blame me, and also report me. Overall, the only thing that can be perceived as trolling is the visual effect that my caps gives off. I use caps in excess because this is a surefire way of knowing you are being heard, along with speaking in excess. This is especially necessary in competitive games such as this, where the chat is known to often move fast from people who try desperately to win. In conclusion, I have not trolled at all in this game, I tried exceedingly hard to win and I was not doing anything that falls under trolling. It would be nice if charlie were to overturn this violation, however I am not convinced this will be done, and in place I hope for two moderators to overturn this. I am not a troll account; this is my main account, and I do not like receiving violations. The bans really don't matter to me, as it just allows me to spend my time doing things that are actually productive. Additionally, I have acted this exact way (the same as I acted in the game I received this second trolling violation for) in every single one of the 2178 games I have played, and I am not saying that the mods are corrupt or abusing power, but I do believe that they are handing out more violations than a year ago, and this means that the site rules have changed without warning. I have also seen the "mod abuse" violation on the rules page has been clowned around with as seen here https://i.imgur.com/542Dp4a.png and it has become apparent that some people are not taking this site seriously. I trust you would consider this appeal honestly and not take offense from it, so that I may lose my violation and also quit competitive mode forever so I can camp at the JFK setup. Also, I have just posted this in a pastebin solely because it exceeds the limit of characters that can be in a report, at over 4x the limit, so please consider the effort put into this.
