- Forever Alone
- (The airplane is hitting some turbulence, and Chris wakes up)
- CHRIS: Sally are you awake?
- SALLY: Yeah, what’s going on?
- CHRIS: I think the plane hit some sort of storm.
- SALLY: Oh No… I hope we don’t crash.
- CHRIS: Sally don’t think that way, we are going to be… OK.
- SALLY: I can’t help it. I’m afraid of heights.
- CHRIS: Then why are you on an airplane?
- SALLY: I was told this was the only way to get to Tokyo.
- CHRIS: Well yeah, I guess… you could of taken a boat.
- SALLY: Well I didn’t think about it at the time because of my great fear of water.
- CHRIS: You are in a bad situation then, because if this plane crashes then we are going to land in water.
- SALLY: WHAT?! We are over water?
- CHRIS: Well yeah how else would we get to Japan, from America?
- SALLY: I figured we would just go through Europe, and Russia.
- CHRIS: The easier route is to just go west through the Pacific Ocean.
- SALLY: Oh, yeah that does make more sense.
- CHRIS: Just try to get back to sleep. Everything is going to be OK.
- (Chris stands up, and walks towards the audience.)
- CHRIS: Being the great plane attendant that I am, I will put my tray table up, incase of an accident.
- (Chris Sits down, and puts his tray table up. Chris and Sally go back to sleep.)
- Forever Alone
- (Lights Down)
- (Sally walks to front stage)
- SALLY: four hours later… our plane has crashed... Chris, and I are the only survivors. He is still passed out on the shore.
- (Lights Up)
- SALLY: Chris! Wake Up! … Wake Up!
- CHRIS: huh?! Where the hell am I?!
- SALLY: Chris... I don’t know where we are exactly..
- CHRIS: Wait?! Weren’t we on a plane? Oh NO! The Business trip I’m going to be late..
- SALLY: I think we have more important things to worry about, than a silly meeting.
- CHRIS: you don’t understand this is the most important meeting of my life! If I don’t get there in time I’m canned!
- SALLY: Chris we need to be thinking about survival! Haven’t you ever watched that tv show survivor? THIS IS JUST LIKE THAT!
- CHRIS: Well I only watched like the first three episodes when the guy came in and told them where there camp is... WHEN DOES HE COME HELP US?!
- (Chris walks in front of the audience)
- CHRIS: By this time audience you can tell we are getting a little crazy..
- (Chris walks back to Sally)
- SALLY: I’m going to go look for some fresh water.. you look for food.
- (Sally walks to stage left, Chris walks to stage right)
- Forever Alone
- CHRIS: I can’t believe this my whole career down the drain.
- CHRIS: Why are we here?! Where’s the plane?! So many questions…
- SALLY: water, water, water… where to find it.. I remember from that survival video we watched back in college ted bears said to look for a large source of water, but we can’t drink salt water.
- SALLY: CHRIS IS THERE ANY WAY WE CAN BOIL THIS WATER?!
- CHRIS: WELL IF WE HAD A CONTAINER, AND A WAY TO MAKE A FIRE!
- SALLY: Wait?! Check your pockets do you have any flint and steel?
- CHRIS: It was in my suitcase that was on the airplane.
- SALLY: Well I don’t have, any so we’ll just have to do with out.
- CHRIS: Wait Sally! You are forgetting the basic laws of survival.. You can make torches out of sticks and coal.
- SALLY: Where are we going to find any coal?!
- CHRIS: Use your mind Sally, the best place to get coal is by the water.
- SALLY: Of course the water!
- CHRIS: Just let me punch some trees, so we can get a workbench.
- SALLY: OK Chris! I’ll look for that coal.
- (Chris walks in front of the audience)
- CHRIS: I know what you’re thinking, making torches, punching trees.. ridiculous right?! No folks, here in this performance, anything is possible, there are no physics.
- (Chris walks back, and punches a tree)
- Forever Alone
- SALLY: Chris how’s the lumber coming?
- CHRIS: I haven’t gotten anything, and my hand is really sore.
- SALLY: What do you mean your hand is sore? Aren’t you using an axe, or something.
- CHRIS: Well I didn’t exactly think I needed an axe on a business trip!
- SALLY: Can’t you make one?
- CHRIS: With what?! Rocks?!
- SALLY: Well I figured you would come up with something…
- CHRIS: I’m a business man Sally, not some tool man.
- (Chris sits down, Sally walks to front stage.)
- SALLY: I know he’s a business man, but I figured he would have been able to do something! Does he expect me to do everything? If this goes on much longer I’m going to lose it.
- (Sally walks off stage, Lights down.)
- (Lights Up, it’s dark. Chris and Sally are both upright, and asleep under a tree. It’s very cold, and neither one of them were prepared for the harsh weather.)
- (Chris starts shaking wildly, and screams.)
- CHRIS: Oh it was just a dream..
- (Sally wakes up.)
- SALLY: What’s the matter Chris?
- CHRIS: Oh nothing, I was just having a nightmare.
- SALLY: About what?
- CHRIS: I’d rather not go into it.
- SALLY: Well OK, just try to get back to sleep.
- (Lights Down.)
- Forever Alone
- (Lights Up, Chris is sitting under the tree, still asleep. Sally is Off stage.)
- (Sally walks in Stage Right.)
- SALLY: Chris get up!
- (Chris doesn’t respond)
- SALLY: Wake up! Please!
- (Chris opens his eyes)
- CHRIS: hmm? What is it Sally.
- SALLY: Well I woke up early, and decided to go for a walk. This island is a lot larger than I originally thought.
- (Sally points towards the audience.)
- SALLY: I started off in that direction, and was gone for quite a few hours.
- CHRIS: How did you get back?
- SALLY: I just started walking in the direction that I came from.
- CHRIS: yeah, makes sense. Did you find anything interesting?
- SALLY: I found a stream, and I think the water is fine.
- CHRIS: Awesome, let’s go back to that stream.
- SALLY: Sounds Great!
- (Chris, and Sally walk off stage right. Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up, Chris and Sally are walking along the shore.)
- SALLY: So Chris what exactly do you do?
- CHRIS: Well I work for a TV Station. I’m the head news reporter, that’s the whole reason I was going to Tokyo anyway.
- SALLY: So is there anything interesting you do at work?
- CHRIS: Well it’s not the most interesting job but, I like it.
- Forever Alone
- SALLY: Well as long as you like it I guess that’s all the matters.
- CHRIS: So what do you do?
- SALLY: Oh I’m a college student, I was going to study abroad at Tokyo.
- CHRIS: Sounds interesting, what are you majoring in?
- SALLY: I’m planning on teaching Japanese as a foreign language.
- CHRIS: That’s nice, so how long till we get to that stream?
- SALLY: Shouldn’t be too long.
- CHRIS: OK.
- (Chris, and Sally walk off stage right. Lights Go Down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris, and Sally are approaching the stream.)
- SALLY: There it is Chris! I see it!
- CHRIS: I don’t see anything.
- SALLY: Look over there.
- (Sally Points Stage Right.)
- CHRIS: Oh, I see it. You were right.
- SALLY: Yeah.
- (Chris runs stage right, and drinks water from stream.)
- CHRIS: It taste amazing!
- (Sally Joins Chris, Drinking water from stream.)
- (Chris, and Sally Stand up.)
- SALLY: Well we really should work on some sort of shelter.
- CHRIS: The most I could think of is just some branches leaned against a tree.
- Forever Alone
- SALLY: Well that should do.
- (Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris is standing next to the new shelter.)
- CHRIS: Sally! It’s done.
- (Sally walks in from stage left.)
- SALLY: Oh it looks great Chris.
- CHRIS: Thanks.
- (Sally looks up, then back down.)
- SALLY: Well let’s call it a night, it’s getting dark.
- CHRIS: Agreed.
- (Chris, and Sally Sit down in the shelter.)
- (Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up.)
- (Chris is sitting next to the stream, watching as the water flows. Sally is trying to start a fire)
- CHRIS: I wonder if we’ll ever get out of here.
- SALLY: Don’t know, but if we get a fire going there’s a chance someone could spot us.
- CHRIS: Have you ever made a fire before?
- SALLY: Well no, but I saw it on a tv show once.
- (Chris stands up and walks to Sally.)
- CHRIS: Let me try I was in boy scouts.
- SALLY: OK have at it.
- (Sally stands up, and Chris takes her place.)
- Forever Alone
- CHRIS: This was always the hardest part at camp. There’s a trick to it, I just don’t know if I can still do it.
- (Chris starts attempting to start a fire.)
- SALLY: Well I hope you have better luck than I did.
- SALLY: I’m going to search for some berries or something in the woods.
- CHRIS: OK, but be careful and if you do find something, come back here and get me.
- SALLY: Will do.
- (Sally walks off stage right.)
- (Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up.)
- (Sally is in the forest looking for some food for Chris, and herself.)
- SALLY: I’ve never actually picked berries before. I wonder if there’s anything special you have to do?
- (Sally looks around in all directions.)
- SALLY: I don’t see anything, but trees.
- SALLY: Wait a second… what is that?
- (Sally looks towards stage right, and walks off stage right.)
- (Lights down.)
- (Lights Up.)
- (Chris got a fire started, and is sitting next to it.)
- CHRIS: Sally sure is taking a while… I hope everything is OK.
- CHRIS: If she isn’t back in the next hour, I’ll go look for her.
- (Lights Down.)
- Forever Alone
- (Lights Up. Chris is in the woods were sally was.)
- CHRIS: Sally!
- CHRIS: Where Are You?!
- (Chris looks around in all directions.)
- CHRIS: I got the fire started!
- CHRIS: Are you out here?!
- (Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris is back at the shelter. It’s night.)
- CHRIS: This is terrible. It’s already dark out, and Sally is nowhere to be found.
- (Strange noises from the woods.)
- CHRIS: These noises are going to drive me crazy… If I’m not already.
- CHRIS: I better try to get some rest, and go look for her first thing tomorrow.
- (Chris lays down, lights down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris is just waking up.)
- CHRIS: *sigh* I wonder what time it is..
- (Chris walks to the stream, and washes his face.)
- CHRIS: I shouldn’t of let her go off by her -self.
- CHRIS: I should of went with her.
- CHRIS: There’s no time to waste, I’ve got to go look for her now.
- (Chris walks off stage right. Lights down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris is in the woods.)
- CHRIS: Let’s see she would have been around this area.
- Forever Alone
- (Chris walks around franticly.)
- CHRIS: Wait a second.. what is that?
- (Chris walks off stage right, Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up, Chris emerges from the trees, onto a road.)
- CHRIS: What is this. I thought we were on an island..
- (Chris walks down the road, off stage right. Lights down.)
- (Lights Up, Chris sees a phone booth.)
- CHRIS: A phone booth! Finally I can make a call.
- (Chris walks over to the phone booth, and puts the phone to his ear.)
- CHRIS: Yes there’s a dial tone.
- (Chris dials 911. Loud snap noise. Chris passes out.))
- (Lights Down.)
- (Lights Up. Chris is back on the airplane)
- CHRIS: What... was it all a dream?
- (Chris looks over at sally.)
- CHRIS: Sally, wake up!
- (Sally wakes up.)
- SALLY: What do you want sir?
- CHRIS: Sally.. it’s me!
- SALLY: look man I don’t know who you are but I’m trying to get some sleep.
- CHRIS: So it was just a dream…
- (Chris stares blankly at the audience from his seat.)
- (Lights Down.)
