- Leaving her burrow, moments pass
- Before the pressure of the Stare
- Weighs down on her. Just through the grass
- To get some food, that’s all she dare.
- Resting on her, invis’ble eyes
- Follow the mouse toward the bush.
- She looks up; only bright sun-rays
- Fall onto her. She goes to p--
- Woosh.
- No time to think, the eyes surround
- Her as she sprints her way
- Back to the burrow; as the sounds
- Grow louder, legs betray
- Her body as she rolls
- In through the entrance. Hidden, scared,
- She watches as the leaves pass by the hole.
- Still, even now, she’s weighed down by the Stare.
