Leaving her burrow, moments pass
Before the pressure of the Stare
Weighs down on her. Just through the grass
To get some food, that’s all she dare.

Resting on her, invis’ble eyes
Follow the mouse toward the bush.
She looks up; only bright sun-rays
Fall onto her. She goes to p--

Woosh.

No time to think, the eyes surround
Her as she sprints her way
Back to the burrow; as the sounds
Grow louder, legs betray

Her body as she rolls
In through the entrance. Hidden, scared,
She watches as the leaves pass by the hole.
Still, even now, she’s weighed down by the Stare.
