  2. Honey gourami tank mates generally need to have a bit more consideration when choosing. Tank mates generally should be smaller or peaceful, and P. diffusa makes a wonderful fit as both are slow moving and should not compete for food. The honey gourami does have risk of nipping antenna, but this is less likely to occur. A good temperature range for the two would be 75-80F, and keeping it on the warmer range should help ensure P. diffusa stays active. For parameters, a range of at least 7.0-8.0ppm needs to be kept as anything lower will "melt" the shell of P. diffusa, and the honey gourami should have no issues as long as the pH stays stable. For a beginner keeper of these species, a 15g standard is recommended for a single gourami and P. diffusa.
