Aysu and Agnes school scene (5/4/2016)

[05:04:23:14] <@Aysu> Aysu sits outside under a tree, trying to read over her notes for English class.  She's been studying for the past hour out here in the shade, trying and failing to really retain much of anything.  Finally, she seems to admit defeat, thudding her head back against the tree trunk and letting her arms fall at her sides, her notebook left open in the grass. She gives a weary groan. "Ugh, how did they even let me come here?"
[05:04:23:17] * Agnes happens to be walking by as Aysu utters her defeated question. She stops nearby and asks, "Is there a problem?" She absently runs a foot through the grass as she looks at the girl.
[05:04:23:31] <@Aysu> Abruptly straightening up and looking over, Aysu stares at Agnes for a moment. "When did you get here?"  She asks with a bit more roughness than probably intended.  Going by her wide-eyed expression, she really doesn't seem that offended by the fire girl's presence right now, just startled that someone managed to almost sneak up on her when she was having a bit of tunnel vision.
[05:04:23:33] <Agnes> "I was just walking by, but you seemed to be upset about something.  Is everything okay?"  She doesn't take issue with the possible roughness.  She's trying to be friendly, that is part of the reason she's here.  To meet new people.
[05:04:23:56] <@Aysu> Aysu grits her teeth, throwing an actual scowl at, surprisingly not Agnes, but instead her own notebook.  If agnes were to look, she'd see alternating rows of symbols in boxes and something that is probably meant to look like English lettering, though not arranged into coherent words. "I don't know what I'm even doing here.  I need to at least learn English at a basic level to do most anything in the regular classes, but that's just not working out."
[05:04:23:58] <Agnes> "You are from..."  She stops and looks around, not many people are out here at this time, but to be safe she sits down next to Aysu.  "You are from an area that uses different letters?"
[05:05:00:32] <@Aysu> Aysu frowns at the other girl. "Is that really so strange? I have spent most of my life travelling and have known people who spoke two dozen languages by trade, not all of them possible to write." She picks up her notes, displaying them to the fire girl. "A coherent system would be helpful.  I am used to symbols I can read and identify at a glance!  None of this nonsense with ones that are inconsistent or ones even that do not even show up when spoken!"
[05:05:00:33] <Agnes> "It is odd, even to me," she concedes.  "Do you have anyone who could help you learn?  I believe Sam mentioned you the other day when he was helping me study.  Perhaps he can do the same for you?"
[05:05:00:40] <@Aysu> "I do not like asking for help with most basic things," Aysu replies. "I am an adult, so it wounds my pride to do so."
[05:05:00:42] <Agnes> "Asking for help is not a weakness..."  HYPOCRITE!  "It does not matter if you are an adult or a child.  Everyone needs help.  What is basic to you, might not be for others.  And it works the other way around."
[05:05:13:21] <@Aysu> "Strange to hear that coming from you," Aysu mutters. "But I do not think It would be convenient for either of us even if I did ask.  He is not here, so I cannot ask for help regularly or easily."
[05:05:13:23] <Agnes> "Are you staying here?  He has told me he is willing to help with my studies, I am sure he would not mind helping you if you meet him at the Wand."  She doesn't take the bait that Aysu was offering.
[05:05:13:27] <@Aysu> "I am mostly staying here, yes.  It is convenient and there is a pool." Aysu says as if it explains everything. "I have not been back to the Wand in some time."
[05:05:13:29] <Agnes> "I see," she says, nodding her head.  "Perhaps...  I could help?  I am currently doing well in my English class."
[05:05:13:32] <@Aysu> Once again, Aysu stares at Agnes for a few seconds. "You would do that?  I do not understand why."
[05:05:13:33] <Agnes> "Well..."  Agnes shifts a little, curling her toes in the grass.  "We have a mutual friend, and I owe you for your help the other day."
[05:05:13:41] <@Aysu> "I we do, but even the people who have a mutual friend in me do not necessarily get along." Aysu gives a wry smile. "Well, I cannot honestly fare any worse than I am, so... I will accept your help."
[05:05:13:42] <Agnes> "Well, it is good to make an effort to get along with someone who is the friend of a good friend.  I had to convince a few of mine to try and get along..."  She shakes her head quickly.  "But I will gladly help you the best I can."
<@Aysu> "I appreciate it." Aysu's more typical smile makes a return. "I do not know where to start, though."
