アムロ
「ガンダムの開発チームにはさんざん嫌味を
言われたが、ロンド・ベルの戦力増強が
急務なら仕方ないさ」
Amuro: The Gundam development team had some pretty harsh complaints, but if Londo Bell needs more manpower, then it can’t be helped.

ブライト
「地上では不測の事態がいろいろと起きているんでな」
Bright: There have been a number of unexpected developments on Earth as of late.

アムロ
「それで…ロンド・ベルは
まだ日本に滞在するのか?」
Amuro: And...that’s why Londo Bell is stationed here in Japan?

ブライト
「ああ。地球にいる政府や軍のお偉方は、
[ネオ・ジオン]より異星人やDr. ヘルたちの方が
脅威だと思っている」
Bright: Right. The Earth government and the military higher ups have decided that Dr. Hell and the aliens are a bigger threat than [Neo Zeon].

アムロ
「シャアがコロニー落としを目論んでいたら、
取り返しのつかないことになるぞ」
Amuro: But we’ll never be able to recover from it if Char really is planning to drop a colony.

ブライト
「そうなったら、
俺たちに宇宙へ上がれと命令するだろうさ」
Bright: If that happens, then they’ll order us into space.

アムロ
「…独立部隊とはいえ、いいように使われる身か」
Amuro: ...We’re supposed to be an independent force, but they’re using us as they like.

ブライト
「だが、俺たちはまだマシな立ち位置にいる。
様々な研究機関の支援を受けているからな」
Bright: But it’s because of that that we’re in a better position than we were. Now we have the backing of several research institutes.

アムロ
「だとしても、
民間人である彼らを頼り続けるわけにはいかない。
vガンダムを早く仕上げなくては…」
Amuro: Even so, we can’t keep relying on civilians. I need to finish Nu Gundam as soon as possible...

Bright: Yes, please see to it.

Kamille: Welcome back, Lieutenant Amuro.

アムロ
「カミーユ…長らく留守にしてすまなかった」
Amuro: Kamille... Sorry for being away for so long.

カミーユ
「いえ。大尉が新型のガンダムと
一緒に戻ってきてくれて、心強いです」
Kamille: It’s no trouble. If anything, it’s reassuring to have you back together with a new model Gundam.

アストナージ
「あの機体にはガンダムの集大成的なモノを感じるよ」
Astonaige: I get the feeling a lot of hard work went into this beauty.

アムロ
「設計には俺も関わったからな」
Amuro: Yeah, I had a hand in the designing as well.

アストナージ
「だけど、サイコフレームは
出自が不明な点もさることながら、
機体とのマッチングが悪い」
Astonaige: But the Psycho Frame isn’t going well with the machine, and it doesn’t help that we have no idea where it even came from.

アストナージ
「現状だとあちこちのシステムに干渉する。
検証するにもデータが足りないぜ?」
Astonaige: As it stands, we’re going to have to meddle with just about every part of the system. The test data we have is just too insufficient to go on.

アムロ
「だから、テストを繰り返すしかない」
Amuro: That’s why we’ll just have to keep running tests on it.

カミーユ
「実戦で運用しながら、ですか?」
Kamille: You mean by using it in live combat?

アムロ
「そうだ。あそこにある機体…マジンガーZも
いつまでロンド・ベルに協力してくれるか
わからないからな」
Amuro: That’s right. We don’t know how long we can count on the cooperation of that machine over there... That Mazinger Z.

(Koji approaches.)

甲児
「お役御免になるまでいるつもりですよ、俺は」
Koji: Well, I for one, plan to stick around until someone says otherwise.

アムロ
「君は…」
Amuro: You’re...

甲児
「マジンガーZのパイロット、兜甲児です」
Koji: The pilot of Mazinger Z, Koji Kabuto.

カミーユ
「地上での戦いでは、
彼にずいぶんと助けてもらいました」
Kamille: He’s been a great help in the battles on Earth.

アムロ
「そうか」
Amuro: I see.

甲児
「初代ガンダムのパイロット、
[一年戦争]の英雄に会えて光栄です」
Koji: It’s an honor to meet the pilot of the first Gundam, and the Hero of the [One Year War].

アムロ
「英雄は止めてくれないか。
そこまで大層な人間じゃない」
Amuro: Please, don’t call me a hero. I’m nothing that special.

アムロ
「それより、
ロンド・ベル隊への協力を感謝するよ、兜甲児君」
Amuro: More importantly, you have my gratitude for assisting Londo Bell, Koji Kabuto.

甲児
「呼び捨てでいいですよ、アムロ大尉。
俺もマジンガーZもやれることを
やってるだけですから」
Koji: Plain old Koji is good enough for me, Lieutenant Amuro. Me and Mazinger Z are just doing what we can.

アムロ
「大事なことさ。
やるべき時に、それができるということは」
Amuro: Doing what you can do when you need to do it is still important.

(Koji receives a call.)

甲児
「おっと…さやかさんから連絡だ。
アムロ大尉、ちょっといいですか?」
Koji: Oh, hold on... I got a call from Sayaka. Do you mind if I take this, Lieutenant Amuro?

アムロ
「ああ、構わない」
Amuro: No, go ahead.

甲児
「もしもし…なんかあったのかい、さやかさん?」
Koji: Hello, hello... Need something, Sayaka?

さやか
「ええ、お父様からの伝言よ。
マジンガーZの強化計画を実行に移すから、
光子力研究所に戻ってきてほしいって」
Sayaka: Yes, my father has a message for you. He wants you to come back to the Photon Power Lab with Mazinger Z so we can begin working on its enhancement project.

甲児
「わかった、
ブライト艦長に許可を取ってから戻るぜ」
Koji: Got it. I’ll ask Captain Bright for permission to return.

さやか
「うん、待ってるわ、甲児君」
Sayaka: Okay, we’ll be waiting, Koji.

アストナージ
「彼女からのお誘いか? 甲児」
Astonaige: Your girlfriend ask you on a date, Koji?

甲児
「そんなんじゃなく、
マジンガーZで光子力研究所に戻れって話ですよ」
Koji: It’s nothing like that. They said they want me to bring Mazinger Z back to the Photon Power Lab.

カミーユ
「メンテナンスをするのか?」
Kamille: For maintenance?

甲児
「いや、パワーアップさ。
ちと留守にするけど、アムロ大尉も来たし、
大丈夫だよな?」
Koji: No, it’s for a power up. I’ll be gone for a while, but you’ll be okay with Lieutenant Amuro here, right?

アムロ
「…アストナージ、
俺もルガンダムで光子力研究所まで行く」
Amuro: ...I think I’ll be taking the Gundam to the Photon Power Lab too, Astonaige.

アストナージ
「おいおい、今の状態でか?」
Astonaige: Wait, you mean like it is now?

アムロ
「どのみち、慣らしと重力下テストは必要なんだ」
Amuro: We need to break it in and do a low-earth gravity test anyways.

アストナージ
「だが、フィン・ファンネルは使えないぞ?」
Astonaige: Even when you can’t use the Fin Funnels?

アムロ
「他の武装は使用できる。
早めに色々なデータを取っておきたい」
Amuro: I can still use the other weapons. And I’d like to gather the data on it sooner rather than later.

アストナージ
「そりゃまあ、そうだが…」
Astonaige: Well sure, but...

甲児
「何かあったら、俺がマジンガーZで大尉を守るさ」
Koji: If something goes wrong, Mazinger Z will be there to protect the Lieutenant.

アムロ
「フッ、頼もしいな」
Amuro: Heh, that’s encouraging.

アストナージ
「艦長には大尉から話をしておいてくれよ?」
Astonaige: Just make sure you talk to the Captain about it, alright?

アムロ
「もちろんだ」
Amuro: Of course.

『黒と白の邂逅』
Episode 1
Black Meets White


(Scene starts on the map screen of the Photon Power Lab. Amuro and Koji are on the map in their machines.)

甲児
「よーし、研究所に着いたぜ。
アムロ大尉、vガンダムの調子はどうだい?」
Koji: Alright, we made it to the lab. How’s your Nu Gundam holding up, Lieutenant Amuro?

アムロ
「悪くはないが…反応が鈍いな。
慣らしが終わっていないからだと思うが…」
Amuro: Not too bad, but... The response time is sluggish. I think I still need some time breaking it in...

弓教授
「聞こえるかね、甲児君、アムロ大尉!」
Prof. Yumi: Can you hear me, Koji, Lieutenant Amuro!?

アムロ
「光子力研究所所長、弓弦之助教授ですね?
ロンド・ベル隊所属のアムロ・レイ大尉です」
Amuro: You’re the head of the Photon Power Laboratory, Professor Gennosuke Yumi, right? This is Lieutenant Amuro Ray, from Londo Bell.

弓教授
「すまんが、挨拶は後で!
[機械獣]が研究所に接近しているのだ!」
Prof. Yumi: I apologize, but introductions must come later! There are [Mechanical Beasts] approaching the Laboratory!

甲児
「!」
Koji: !

アムロ
「マジンガーZの留守を狙ったというわけか」
Amuro: I take it they wanted to target the lab while Mazinger Z was gone.

弓教授
「甲児君、
アフロダイAはメンテナンス中のため、出撃できない。
マジンガーZで機械獣を撃退してくれ」
Prof. Yumi: Koji, Aphrodite A is still undergoing maintenance and cannot launch. Use Mazinger Z to repel the Mechanical Beasts.

甲児
「任せてください!」
Koji: Leave it to me!

弓教授
「アムロ大尉は研究所内へ待避を」
Prof. Yumi: Lieutenant Amuro, please take shelter in the laboratory.

アムロ
「いえ、このまま機械獣を迎撃します」
Amuro: No, I’ll intercept the Mechanical Beasts as well.

弓教授
「しかし、そのガンダムはまだ調整中では…」
Prof. Yumi: But, that Gundam is still in need of testing...

アムロ
「実戦データも必要なので。
それに、光子力研究所に被害が出れば、
マジンガーZの改修もままならないでしょう?」
Amuro: That’s why I need live combat data. And besides, if the Photon Power Lab is damaged, you won’t be able to repair Mazinger Z, will you?

弓教授
「それはその通りだが…」
Prof. Yumi: That’s true, but...

甲児
「教授、
研究所もガンダムも俺が守ってみせますよ!」
Koji: Professor, I’ll protect the lab, and the Gundam!

(Mechanical Beasts appear.)

アムロ
「こちらでも敵影を捉えました。
もう時間がありません」
Amuro: We’ve got sight of the enemy. There’s no more time to talk about it now.

弓教授
「了解した。
くれぐれも無理をしないでくれたまえ、大尉」
Prof. Yumi: Very well. Please do not fight recklessly, Lieutenant.

アムロ
「了解です」
Amuro: Roger that.

甲児
「来やがったな!
アムロ大尉、あまり前に出ないでくださいよ!」
Koji: Here they come! Don’t get too far ahead of me, Lieutenant Amuro!

アムロ
「ああ、マジンガーZの戦いぶりを見せてもらおう」
Amuro: Right. I look forward to seeing how Mazinger Z fights.

(Battle 1 begins.)

(This line triggers if Amuro battles an enemy.)

アムロ
「機体の反応が鈍い…
騙し騙しやっていくしかないということか」
Amuro: The machine’s reaction time is slow... I’ll have to use every trick in the book to make it work.

(This line triggers if Koji battles an enemy.)

甲児
「性懲りもなく襲ってきやがって!
だが、俺が来た以上、好きにはさせねえぜ!」
Koji: You made the mistake of trying to attack while I was away! But now that I’m here, you’re gonna pay for it!

(Battle 1 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

甲児
「…よし、機械獣は片付いたぜ」
Koji: ...Alright, we took out all the Mechanical Beasts.

弓教授
「周囲に機械獣の反応はない。
ふたりとも、今のうちに研究所へ入ってくれたまえ」
Prof. Yumi: There are no signs of Mechanical Beasts remaining in the area. You two, please enter the laboratory.

アムロ
「了解です、教授」
Amuro: Roger that, Professor.


光子力研究所 指令室
Photon Power Lab – Command Room


弓教授
「光子力研究所所長の弓弦之助だ。
大尉のご助力を感謝する」
Prof. Yumi: I am the head of the Photon Power Laboratory, Gennosuke Yumi. Thank you for your assistance, Lieutenant.

アムロ
「研究所に被害がなく、何よりです」
Amuro: I’m just glad the lab is unharmed.

甲児
「ガンダムの実戦データを取るって言ってたけど、
どうだったんです? 大尉」
Koji: You said you wanted to get live combat data for the Gundam, right, Lieutenant? How’d it go?

アムロ
「成果はあったが、機体の反応が今ひとつだな。
慣らしもまだまだ必要だ」
Amuro: The results were good, but the machine’s still slower than it ought to be. I still need to break it in.

甲児
「なんか大変そうだなあ、モビルスーツってのは」
Koji: Using Mobile Suits seems pretty tough.

アムロ
「それはマジンガーZも同じはずだ。
人型兵器は精密機械だからね」
Amuro: I imagine it’s the same for Mazinger Z. Humanoid weapons are pretty intricate machines.

さやか
「でも、調整不足のモビルスーツで戦えるなんて、
さすがアムロ大尉です。初めてガンダムに乗った時も
動かし方や戦い方がすぐにわかったんですよね?」
Sayaka: But it’s still impressive that you were able to fight with a Mobile Suit that hasn’t been probably fine tuned. You knew how to fight right away the first time you piloted a Gundam too, didn’t you?

アムロ
「それは誇張された話だよ。
ガンダムの情報は事前にある程度知っていたし、
実際には操縦マニュアルを見ながら動かした」
Amuro: That’s a bit of an exaggeration, actually. I more or less knew about the Gundam beforehand and I was looking at the manual when I was actually trying to operate it.

弓教授
「とはいえ、今回の件は
大尉の今までの経験が成せる業だろう」
Prof. Yumi: Nevertheless, I’m sure your previous experiences came in handy today, Lieutenant.

甲児
「これまでどんなモビルスーツに乗ったんです?」
Koji: What kind of Mobile Suits have you piloted so far?

アムロ
「ガンキャノン、リック・ディアス、ディジェ、
リ・ガズィ…他にも色々搭乗したよ」
Amuro: There’s the Guncannon, the Rick Dias, the Dijeh, the Re-GZ... And a bunch of other machines too.

甲児
「へ~え…こりゃ、マジンガーZにも乗れそうだなあ」
Koji: Cool... You know, maybe you could pilot Mazinger Z too.

アムロ
「さすがにそれはどうかな。
基本的な操縦方法は似ているかもしれないが…」
Amuro: I’m not so sure about that. The basic controls might be similar, but—

(An alarm goes off.)

さやか
「!?」
Sayaka: !?

弓教授
「これは…!
研究所に飛行要塞グールが接近中だ!」
Prof. Yumi: This is... The Flying Fortress Ghoul is approaching the laboratory!

アムロ
「飛行要塞…では、機械獣を多数搭載していると?」
Amuro: A flying fortress... I’m assuming it carries a lot of Mechanical Beasts with it?

弓教授
「うむ、ロンド・ベル隊に救援を要請する。
甲児君、すまないが出撃してくれたまえ」
Prof. Yumi: Yes. I’m requesting Londo Bell to send reinforcements. Koji, I’m afraid I must ask you to launch once more.

甲児
「了解!
助けが来る前に片付けてやりますよ!」
Koji: Roger! I’ll clear ‘em out before backup even gets here!

アムロ
「敵が数を出してくるなら、
マジンガーZだけでは危険だ。
俺も出よう」
Amuro: If the enemies are coming in numbers, it’s not safe for Mazinger Z to go out on its own. I’ll go as well.

弓教授
「しかし…!」
Prof. Yumi: But...!

アムロ
「いつでも万全の状態で戦えるとは限りません。
もたせてみせます」
Amuro: You can’t always be in tip-top shape when it’s time to fight. But I’ll try to take it easy.

弓教授
「わかった。
こちらもアフロダイAのメンテナンスを中止し、
出撃させる。いいな、さやか」
Prof. Yumi: Very well. We’re going to suspend the maintenance of Aphrodite A and launch it as well. Is that alright, Sayaka?

さやか
「ええ!
甲児君、くれぐれも無茶しないでね!」
Sayaka: Yes! Koji, please don’t do anything crazy!

甲児
「俺とアムロ大尉は無敵のタッグだぜ?
そう簡単にゃ、負けやしねえさ!」
Koji: Don’t sweat it! Me and Lieutenant Amuro are an unbeatable tag team! We won’t lose so easily!


(Scene changes back to the map screen of the Photon Power Lab. Koji, Amuro, and enemy Mechanical Beasts are on the map.)


甲児
「グールより先に機械獣が来やがったか!」
Koji: Some Mechanical Beasts got here before the Ghoul!

弓教授
「敵は波状攻撃で君たちを消耗させる気だ。
迂闊に突撃するのは禁物だぞ」
Prof. Yumi: The enemy are most likely attempting to wear you down by attacking in waves. Don’t do anything foolish!

甲児
「ヘッ、あいつらが何体出てきたところで!」
Koji: Hah, not like it matters how many of them there are!

アムロ
「あの機械獣、まるで骸骨のような…」
Amuro: That Mechanical Beast kind of looks like a skeleton...

甲児
「ガラダK7だ。
頭の鎌は結構ヤバいけど、
そう簡単に当たるもんじゃないさ」
Koji: That’s a Garada K7. The sickles on its head can do a real number on you, but its accuracy is pretty terrible.

アムロ
「わかった。遠距離から仕留めよう」
Amuro: Got it. Then I’ll focus on bringing it down from afar.

(Battle 2 begins.)

(This line triggers if Amuro battles an enemy.)

アムロ
「さっきの戦闘でデータは取れている…!」
Amuro: I’ve got the data from the last battle to help me out here...!

(This line triggers if Koji battles an enemy.)

甲児
「お前ら程度なら、援軍なんて必要ねえぜ!」
Koji: We won’t even need reinforcements to deal with you!

(This line triggers if Koji battles the Garada K7.)

甲児
「その御大層な鎌、当てられるもんなら
当ててみやがれってんだ!」
Koji: Hit me with your big scary sickles, if ya can!

(This line triggers if Amuro battles the Garada K7.)

アムロ
「今のガンダムでも
苦戦する相手ではなさそうだが…!」
Amuro: Even as it is now, this Gundam shouldn’t have a problem with an opponent like this...!

(Battle 2 ends when the Garada K7 is defeated. It begins to run away.)

甲児
「なんだ、あいつ…まだ動くのか?」
Koji: What the heck...? That guy can still move?

アムロ
「ならば…!」
Amuro: In that case...!

(Amuro goes after the Garada K7, but Nu Gundam begins to spark and stops before reaching it.)

アムロ
「!?」
Amuro: !?

甲児
「アムロ大尉!?」
Koji: Lieutenant Amuro!?

アムロ
「システムがオーバーフローを…!
サイコフレームの干渉が大きすぎた…!?」
Amuro: There’s a system overflow...! Is the Psycho Frame causing too much interference...!?

(The Garada K7 closes in on Amuro.)

甲児
「ガラダが! アムロ大尉!」
Koji: The Garada! Lieutenant Amuro!

アムロ
「くっ、機体が…!」
Amuro: Damn, my machine won’t—!

甲児
「させるかよおおお!!」
Koji: No you don’t!

(Koji rushes between Amuro and the Garuda and takes the hit.)

甲児
「うああああっ!」
Koji: Uwaaagh!

アムロ
「まずい、頭部に!?」
Amuro: Oh no, it hit the head!!

甲児
「こ、この野郎! これでもくらえ!
ロケットパァァァンチ!!」
Koji: Y-You little punk! Eat this! ROCKET PUUUNCH!!

(Koji destroys the Garada K7.)

甲児
「く、うう…うぐっ…!」
Koji: N-Ngh... Ugh...!

アムロ
「甲児、大丈夫か!?」
Amuro: Koji, are you alrgiht!?

甲児
「そ、そっちこそ…!」
Koji: H-How about you...!?

弓教授
「甲児君、怪我をしているのか!?」
Prof. Yumi: Koji, are you injured!?

甲児
「え、ええ、腕が…!
これじゃ、操縦できません…!」
Koji: Y-Yeah, my arms...! I can’t use the controls anymore...!

弓教授
「アムロ大尉、ガンダムは!?」
Prof. Yumi: What about Lieutenant Amuro and the Gundam!?

アムロ
「こちらは機体が動きません…!」
Amuro: My machine won’t move...!

弓教授
(アフロダイAはまもなく出撃できるが、
それでも…!)
Prof. Yumi: (Aphrodite A is almost ready to launch, but until then...!)

アムロ
(ガンダムの不調のせいで…
いや、俺のせいで甲児が…!)
Amuro: (Because the Gundam malfunctioned—No, because of me, Koji was...!)

甲児
(くそっ…マジンガーは動くのに、俺はこのザマ…
アムロ大尉は無事なのに、ガンダムは動かねえ…)
Koji: (Damn... Mazinger Z can move, but I can’t do a damn thing... Amuro’s safe, but his Gundam can’t move...)

甲児
(どうすりゃいいんだ、どうすりゃ…!)
Koji: (What do we do...!? What the hell are we supposed to do...!?)

弓教授
「やむを得ん!
甲児君、アムロ大尉、機体から脱出するんだ!」
Prof. Yumi: There’s no choice! Koji, Lieutenant Amuro, both of you leave your machines behind!

甲児
「そ、それじゃ、マジンガーZとガンダムが…!
誰が光子力研究所を守るんです…!?」
Koji: B-But then, Mazinger Z and Gundam will...! There’ll be no one to protect the Photon Power Lab...!

弓教授
「だが、現状で他に手はない!」
Prof. Yumi: Even so, as of now, our hands are tied!

甲児
「手…!」
Koji: Hands...!

弓教授
「甲児君、迷っている時間はない!
敵の増援はすぐ来る!」
Prof. Yumi: There’s no time to hesitate, Koji! The enemy reinforcements are nearly here!

甲児
「手…手…そうか…!」
Koji: Hands... Hands... That’s it!

弓教授
「甲児君!?」
Prof. Yumi: Koji!?

甲児
「手は…ありますよ、教授…!」
Koji: We’ve got...another set of hands, Professor...!

Prof. Yumi: What are you talking about!

「アムロ大尉…俺の頼みを…聞いてくれませんか?」
Koji: Lieutenant Amuro... I’m leaving it in your hands... Will you hear me out?

求めて起こした戦争。
　開戦から終戦までが約一年間であったため、
この名で呼ばれる。

One Year War

The war triggered when the Principality of Zeon, led by the Zabis, demanded independence from the Earth Federation.
The conflict is named this way as it spanned about one year from the first recorded battle to the end of the war.
