- Hi Chris/Alan,
- Thanks for the show!
- We have two offices, one in the UK and one in Northern India. The India Internet connection is not always reliable and bandwidth is also a problem as there are phone and database services which need priority over everything else.
- We currently use Microsoft DFS/FSRM on a Windows share to keep a synchronised local copy of two directories between India and the UK.
- I'm trying to find a kind of two way rsync that updates in near real time or something like Dropbox that lives on two internal servers.
- We send about 250MB each day in audio and pictures but do occasionally send unedited video around which can be much larger.
- Could I use Owncloud or DBRD somehow or am I just over complicating things? I guess a cron job that checks every 5minutes for changes via rsync would work but I'm worried about bandwidth limits and what happens if a file takes longer than 5minutes to sync.
- Backups are not an issue as the data is backed up daily at both locations.
- Any advice would be much appreciated.
