  6. part B - Reasons and excuses
  7. 1 take deep breaths, talk with your friends, practice a lot
  8. (If the panic attacks are very serious, you could talk to a doctor about them.)
  9. 2 Ask your friends or teacher for ideas. Choose a topic that you already know something about. Brainstorm everything you can think of and then choose from that list. Look in a newspaper or something for things happening now. Look at trending topics on social media.
  10. 3 Get advice from friends or a teacher about how to do research. Read the suggestions on the handouts I’ve given you.
  11. 4 Make a schedule and stick to it. Force yourself to write something every day.
  12. 5 Ask your instructor. Read carefully over the assignment. Talk to your classmates.
  13. 6 Stop for a minute and collect your ideas/thoughts. For speaking, make sure to have notes to prompt you, and include strategies to allow for pauses. For writing, just start typing whatever comes to your mind and hopefully you can bring it to the topic you need to write about. (This is similar to freewriting.)
  14. ---
  15. p. 165/297 - Read about Josh Miller and as a group answer question 2.

  18. elevator pitch = a short “presentation” you can give someone in the time an elevator takes to get to your floor, which should convince them to hire you or invest in your project or buy your product, etc.
