  1. - You control your ships and features actual gameplay: Azur lane uses simplified shmup mechanics for its gameplay and you actually control your ships unlike in Kancolle. You tell them where to go, who to shoot at and when to use Airstrikes, torpedos or battleship fire. No more depending on the whims of the compass, praying your girls target that one enemy you need them to hit, crying with they blow their load on that small destroyer or wasting whole runs due to random taihas.
  2. There is also an auto mode button for when you want to automate farming of some easy maps or just want to run things on autopilot but the AI isnt too smart so if you cant clear on auto then you'll have to get strong enough to automate it or just manual it.
  3.
  4. - No Perma death: Your ships wont die when killed in combat
  5.
  6. - Simplified resources: Kancolle's four resources are simplified to Fuel and Gold in Azur Lane. Fuel is the only resource consumed in sorties while Gold is used for various things like upgrading equipment, limit breaking ships or buying things from shop.
  7. There is a third resource that is red diamonds for skins and other quality of life upgrades such as more ship slots or more backyard slots which is the paid currency. You can get these diamonds from some rewards here and there in small quantities but the primary way to obtain them is to pay up with real money.
  8.
  9. - Modified resource gain and expeditions: Your main way to earn resources will be expeditions and the Canteen. The canteen generates resources at a set rate and it can only hold a set amount of resources that varies per building level. The building level can be increased every 10 captain levels and you can only claim these resources if you are under your resource cap because it wont let you go over.
  10. The other way to obtain resources is via expeditions. Expeditions are very random and not consistent at all but you'll normally find that the first 10 expeditions you do on a day will give you lots of gold/fuel and the rest of the expeditions you do have pretty bad rewards in comparison so you dont have to be constantly sending or worrying about your expeditions. Special expeditions on the 2nd tab are exempt from this rule.
  11.
  12. - No repairs: Your ships are instantly healed to perfect conditions after you clear or withdraw from a map without you having to do anything at all.
  13.
  14. - Reworked morale: You'll rarely ever find morale to be a problem and you wont have to stop playing every half hour because of orange/red frowny faces. Ships sortied at low morale will start losing affection. For more information, check https://i.imgur.com/VKAGJFH.png
  15.
  16. - Passive experience gain: Unlike in Kancolle, you can level entire fleets by sticking them in your backyard and sending them on a 10 hour expedition that gives them an extremely large amount of experience along with other varied rewards which makes it viable to passively or casually level whole fleets without having to sortie once. Its not optimal or efficient since the best way to go about it would be to actually play the game but its viable if you're a casual player or just have no free time that day and want to burn some resources.
  17.
  18. - No ship locking and set fleet compositions: Events come in normal and hard and ship locking does not exist like in Kancolle. Sometimes an event map or the hard mode version of a map will require you to field a specific fleet composition (The button wont let you add ships to the slot that dont meet the requirement so there's no need to ask) and reach a minimum of stats before you can sortie which simplifies the whole event process because you dont have to spend time looking up the optimal compositions or routing for it.
