Reasoning: Mira has read about the legendary sword wielders of the cosmos since she was little. When she was finally old enough to join Dharma, she leapt at the chance to join. To her, Dharma is a path to gain one of the legendary blades. She didn't know which, and still doesn't really, but she knows that she wants to protect the friends she will eventually make, and explore.

When she got to Dharma's base of operations, she got to meet one of those legendary blade wielders! Someone had overheard her asking about them and pointed her in the direction of Hana Lupo, the bearer of Masamune. While the Swordswoman couldn't exactly teach her many things in terms of raw weapon skill, she did set Mira on a proper path, asking her to consider why she wanted to do this and how. She knows how, by training, making friends, and exploring, but didn't know the why.

She wandered to a little lake and sat with the new long sword that Lady Helena had made her as a gift and considered it. She spoke with the sword, thinking about what she wanted and why. Eventually, through that quiet contemplation, she came to a choice. Her why is to have a partner, someone who she can rely on, and to be able to keep her new friends going in a fight for as long as they need, regardless of her own health. As she said this, she cut herself on accident, but didn't mind. In her mind, bleeding a bit for her sword is a small price to pay to get its help. Plus, maybe it'll strengthen the blade? Who knows.
