  1. 10:11 AM] JesterJerry: Hey there Adam
  2. [10:11 AM] JesterJerry: sigh
  3. [10:11 AM] JesterJerry: I cannot believe my dad right now
  4. [10:12 AM] JesterJerry: Fucking drove me to the point of completely orienting towards medicine
  5. [10:12 AM] JesterJerry: And now he's like "So we should check out about the computer engineering thing"
  6. [10:13 AM] JesterJerry: Mom's just butthurt about her job and wants me to succeed what she failed in, the dream she has of seeing me become a doctor
  7. [10:14 AM] JesterJerry: Dad has a less skewed perception and is actually open to my choices when he's not being a mad blockhead, which is like 0.1% of the time
  8. [10:14 AM] JesterJerry: I hate my life right now
  9. [7:15 PM] Satori: The thing is really simple Adnan, you're not exactly the most go getter for things, at the end of the day they just want to see you truly entangled with something you're interested in. You don't show that ability at all, and that's probably one of the most concerning things for them as a parent
  10. [7:16 PM] Satori: Which is why they're willing to push, your dad still has faith in you though
  11. [7:18 PM] Satori: For example, if someone wants to learn something, they don't ask to stop. They will take every inch they can to get towards that goal
  12. [7:18 PM] Satori: The idea is find something to mind compelling you can suffer through it at first
  13. [7:21 PM] Satori: When I first started learning python I use to easily spend 4 or 5 hours a day on coding alone. Eventually that become 8 to 12 hours a day, to the point I could speak it in English, but that's because there was something offered that I wanted
  14. [7:22 PM] Satori: I wanted to automate things, that's why I did it. 3 years later I don't regret it all. The problem is simple for you adnan
  15. [7:23 PM] Satori: You just haven't found that one thing you want. If you're lucky it'll be hidden under your nose, if not so lucky- you might never find it.
  16. [7:25 PM] Satori: I wanted to write software, that's why I got so good at it
  17. [7:26 PM] Satori: I wanted to play guitar, that's how I got good at it
  18. [7:26 PM] Satori: I wanted to play minecraft, that's how I got good at it
  19. [7:26 PM] Satori: You see, it all starts with an idea, then a want, then a goal
  20. [7:27 PM] Satori: I had the idea that there's gonna more devices on the internet than there will be humans, I wanted to be able to control them, so I had the goal of learning a language
  21. [7:28 PM] Satori: I heard someone play guitar and it was really nice, and I thought to myself, I would want to do that, and then I set a goal and did
  22. [7:28 PM] Satori: You find something you like, want, and then do
  23. [7:32 PM] Satori: Though if you don't choose, someone else will for ya
  24. [7:37 PM] Satori: basically, find something that pays well that you'd want to drop 6 to 8 hours of your time into a day
  25. [7:38 PM] Satori: bc if you dont someone else will find that for ya
  26. [7:41 PM] Satori: your right around the age where things heat up, its time to grow up!
  27. [7:41 PM] Satori: you'll be pushed out of the nest one way or another
  28. [7:41 PM] Satori: might wanna start thinking about what would help you when you do
  29. [7:43 PM] Satori: people expect you to be able to stand on your feet at this point adnan, might that mean getting a job, going to school or becoming an intern
  30. [7:43 PM] Satori: if you cant help yourself, no one will bother with you
  31. [7:44 PM] Satori: find which direction you would like to go, (or be pushed towards)
  32. [7:44 PM] Satori: find a reason
  33. [7:45 PM] Satori: justify your pain, or maybe in the attempt of making the world better, the reason doesnt matter as much - but its important to have one
  34. [7:46 PM] Satori: generally stem jobs are good picks, thats science technology engineerin and mathematics,
  35. [7:46 PM] Satori: another question to ask yourself is what do you want
  36. [7:47 PM] Satori: its all what you want
  37. [7:47 PM] Satori: you've been given the oppurtunity to fly, yet you drag your feet, dont get pushed, but rather fly to where you want
  38. [7:48 PM] Satori: you can never aim too high, just remember the higher the mark, the harder it is
  39. [7:48 PM] Satori: but if you want it, things in the way dont seem half as bad, and you usually wrestle them fairly easily
  40. [7:49 PM] Satori: learning a language like python, java etc etc
  41. [7:49 PM] Satori: is a hard a goal, and a ton of people fall off
  42. [7:49 PM] Satori: but if you want to the ablility to control peoples devices, with or without permission(edited)
  43. [7:50 PM] Satori: is what grinded me pretty far
  44. [7:50 PM] Satori: basically dont throw your life away
  45. [7:51 PM] Satori: because thats the path you're on, me and you play the same game, the only difference is that you dont try your best
  46. [7:51 PM] Satori: its not that its impossible, its just a hell of a mountain to climb
  47. [7:52 PM] Satori: but the more you want something, if you want it as much as your next breath, it feels like nothing(edited)
  48. [7:53 PM] Satori: at the end of the day - it doesnt matter what you choose; everyones interested in something. it can be teaching, prosituting, or being a religious figure
  49. [7:55 PM] Satori: and once you turn into a legal adult adnan, you've yet to realize its you vs the world buddy
  50. [7:55 PM] Satori: everyone and their pops wants a job, and if you know the same things as them - good luck competing
  51. [7:56 PM] Satori: because that old man has 20 years experience, and that young man has a resume that says he can lift 100kg every day without a break
  52. [7:56 PM] Satori: its you vs everyone
  53. [7:57 PM] Satori: that means if you go into programming, im someone you're competing with too
  54. [7:57 PM] Satori: and if you imagine that, holding a porgramming job with someone like me coming up - is a scary thought
  55. [7:58 PM] Satori: reason being is that i might not have the same resume, but im armed to the teeth to take your position
  56. [8:05 PM] Satori: and depending how much someone wants that, the more they're willing to undermine you, they're willing to eat more shit than you.
  57. [9:07 PM] Satori: if you set a boat out to sea without a captain or a driver, where do you think it'll end up? we'll be lucky if it makes it out of the ship bay, your mind is the same thing
  58. [9:08 PM] Satori: i wish you the best of luck, but i aint gonna lie to you like "yeah its all set up, just jump through these hoops"
  59. [9:08 PM] Satori: its a little more complicated than that
