22. "I would rather die today as Blues than live forever as someone else."
23.
24. Blues is perhaps best known for his very independent and rebellious personality. Because of what he considers betrayals on the part of both Doctor Ligh and Albert Wily, who are practically fathers to him, he does not trust others easily and refuses to be chained to any one person or organization and despises it when people offer to fix the glitch in his core, afraid that it will alter his personality to be more 'compliant'. That said, he does have strong sense of honor: even if he doesn't like someone, he will always repay a debt if he owes them one. In just about every situation Proto Man is cool and collected, but this does not mean he has no emotion. His sense of justice is just as strong as his brother's, and though wary of them, he will fight to protect humanity. However, because of the glitch in his programming that allows him to disobey the Three Laws of Robotics, he's willing to fight more pragmatically than Mega Man could. He is also known to be caring towards those who do eventually gain his trust, particularly Mega Man, who he does consider a little brother, despite him not wanting much to do with the rest of his 'family'. Despite his firece independence, Proto Man always stands on the side of good.
25.
26. Powers:
27. Variable Weapons System: The VWS allows Blues to copy weapons and powers of enemy machines and robots, creating his own weapon based off of this data. Over his time of fighting against various Robot Masters and other robots, he's gained quite an arsenal of weapons. However, each weapon has a limited amount of energy. If a weapon runs out of this energy, it will be unusable until he can restore it.
28.
29. Abilities:
30. Slide: A special ability that allows Proto Man to slide smoothly along the ground for a distance farther than friction would seem to allow. This allows him to duck under attacks without stopping or to slide under gaps.
31. As a robot, Blues has strength, stamina, and durability beyond the limits of a normal human. However, because of his unstable core and not being originally made for combat, his defense is much lower than the average robot.
32.
33. Weapons:
34. Proto Buster: Designed by Dr. Wily when Blues was working for him, the Proto Buster fires shots that are individually stronger when compared to the Mega Buster, but it has a slower rate of fire. It can also charge up power for a Charge Shot, a much stronger blast of plasma than a single shot. However, due to these altered specifications, the Proto Buster is prone to overheating, and needing to cool down to continue attacking. Originally, it didn't contain the transformation mechanism that allowed him to change the Buster into a normal hand, but he has since had it added.
35.
36. Special Weapons: The various weapons Proto Man has copied off of Robot Masters in the past. These are:
37.
38. - Spark Shock: Both of Proto Man's hands change into Busters that have large needle-shaped electodes coming out of the ends. These electrodes conduct electricity, and when touched together, fire a beam of electricity that stuns enemies if it hits. Each shot takes up some of the weapon's energy.
39.
40. - Pharaoh Shot: Proto Man throws a large ball of energy. This ball of energy can be held to charge it, causing it to grow in size and power. However, a charged shot consumes more energy.
41.
42. - Napalm Bomb: Proto Man fires a cylindrical bomb that bounces along the ground. Upon contact with an enemy, or after some time, it will create a large explosion. Each shot of this bomb takes some energy.
43.
44. - Knight Crush: Proto Man fires a large spiked ball from his Buster, with a chain attached to the ball and Proto Buster. He can then swing it around like a normal ball-and-chain weapon, though its energy steadily drains while active.
45.
46. -Noise Crush: Noise Crush fires defeaning soundwaves from Proto Man's Buster, which can rebound off of walls. Each shot consumes energy.
47.
48. - Ice Wave: Proto Man drops an ice crystal onto the ground, which creates a wave of large icicles that pop out of the ground, travelling in a straight line for a short time or stopping when it hits a wall or similar obstacle. Each shot takes up energy.
49.
50. - Hornet Chaser: This weapon fires hornet drones that can either sting enemies for minimal damage or be commanded to retrieve far away items. Each shot consumes energy.
51.
52. - Wheel Cutter: Proto Man tosses a spiky wheel that rolls quickly across the ground, slicing enemies in its way. If it hits a wall, the wheel will climb up it for a short distance before disappearing. Each use of this weapon takes up some of its energy.
53.
54. - Tengu Blade: A triple-bladed weapon that can be used as a slashing weapon or thrown, with it being capable of bouncing off of walls. Each time Proto Man slashes with the blade or throws it, it uses some energy.
55.
56. Equipment:
57. Proto Shield: Created by Dr. Wily to counteract Blues' low defense and to protect his unstable core, this shield is made of the same near-indestructible alloy that Mets wear as hard hats. It can block pretty much any projectile and weapon thrown at it, though keeping up the defense is dependant on Proto Man's strength.
58.
59. Proto Coil: A large spring that Proto Man can create that bounches him up to high areas he normally wouldn't be able to reach. Like his weapons, though, multiple uses will deplete the energy needed to create it.
60.
61. Proto Jet: A hoverboard that allows for speedy travel and traversing large gaps, it consumes energy for as long as it is active.
62.
63. Enlightenment:
64. No.

66. History:
67. Created by Thomas Light and then-colleague Albert Wily in the year 20XX, DLN-000 (named "Blues" by Light) was the first robot capable of advanced decision making, independent thought, and reasoning. As such, he developed his own human-like personality, was able to act without orders, and even exhibited metaphysical thought.
68.
69. Blues greatly exceeded Doctor Light's expectations in many areas. But being the first robot of his kind with a highly experimental design, several glitches were discovered. First was that he was able to defy what, by law, all robots were programmed to follow: Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. On top of this, he had a critical malfunction in his power core, one that would eventually lead to a complete system failure. Fixing this issue would require almost completely rebuilding his main core, which held his IC Chip, essentially his personality.
70. Mistakenly believing that Light would erase his personality and independence when fixing the core to make him more compliant, Blues ran away to protect his sense of identity.
71.
72. He wandered the planet for years, occasionally helping people on his way, despite the fact that extra activity would shorten the time his core had left. While doing so, he discovered that Light had perfected the energy core design, creating two new advanced robots named Rock and Roll, as well as creating a line of simpler combat robots for the military known as Sniper Joes. From Blues' point of view, it seemed like Light had simply forgotten about him and replaced him with better machines. He particularly despised the Joes, as their designs were clearly based off of him.
73.
74. Later, Wily discovered Blues collapsed, his power core on the verge of shutdown. Though unable to fully repair the problem with his core, Wily altered it to be nuclear powered, greatly extending the time Blues had, as well as repairing him and equipping him with his trademark helmet and shield. In return, Blues agreed to help Wily with his construction efforts, not truly knowing of his evil intentions. Through studying the parts of Blues' designs he didn't have a part in creating, Wily was able to better understand Light's robotics and create his own line of Robot Masters.
75.
76. Donning the name of Break Man to disguise himself, Blues clashed directly with his brother Rock, who had taken on the name Mega Man, during the third Robot Rebellion. However, Rock, still not knowing he was fighting his own brother, managed to convince Blues of Wily's true intentions, and Blues turned on Wily, even helping Rock in some instances such as saving his life when Wily's castle collapsed.
77.
78. However, he did so in secret, and continued to pretend to be on Wily's side up until the fourth Robot Rebellion. With Mega Man taking up all of Wily's attention, Blues was able to rescue the daughter of Russian roboticist Mikhail Cossack, Kalinka, so that Wily could no longer use her as blackmail to force Cossack into working for him. With Wily's plans once again foiled, Blues gave up the disguise of Break Man, from then on donning the name of Proto Man.
79.
80. However, he still refused help from Doctor Light, no longer trusting of either scientist. And though he helped Rock on many an occasion, he still did not admit to being apart of his family.
81.
82. In the fifth Robot Rebellion, Wily framed Proto Man by creating a robot called Dark Man that could impersonate any robot, and made it seem like Blues staged his own rebellion. Working together, Mega Man and Proto Man revealed the deception and defeated Wily once again, clearing Blues' name.
83.
84. Every time Wily attacked with his army of robots, Proto Man helped Mega Man in various ways, though rarely ever working with him directly, more prone to giving hints or special items, even challenging him to fights as his own roundabout way of making his brother stronger. When Mega Man's main rival, Bass, was created by Wily, it was Blues who often talked to him with understanding, though not acceptance. He often told Bass that, despite being technically stronger than Rock, the reason he could never beat him was becuase of his ignoble intentions. Though Bass was often angered by Proto Man's lecturing, when ordered to destroy him by Wily, he refused, no longer wanting to be loyal to the madman. Proto Man would go on to help Mega Man with the Roboenza epidemic, but was later infected himself. Luckily, Mega Man delivered a prototype cure to him, building their trust further. When Wily himself came down with normal influenza, Proto Man only called it "poetic justice" leaving Rock to deliver him to a hospital.
85.
86. Proto Man continued to wander the world on his own, continuing to enjoy his own freedom. One day, though, a mysterious robot from space known as Duo came to him for help. Duo told him that strange distortions in space and time were appearing everywhere lately, revealing entirely new and unknown worlds, as well as odd, malleable blocks. Duo asked for Proto Man's help in investigating the phenomenon, saying that while Mega Man had to stay and protect the Earth, Proto Man was free to go wherever he wished. Enticed by the chance to explore new worlds so easily, Blues agreed. Duo helped Proto Man with the transportation he would need, saying that the blocks he had discovered could be molded into for any use, even an advanced spacecraft. He used the blocks he had collected to make on for Proto Man, who affectionately named it the Red Striker.
87. Journeying into space, his favorite tune on his lips, Blues was off to explore and experience true freedom.
