  1. Nowadays, the exposure to the Meta has immensely positively influenced both the Katati, and, unfortunately, the Kast. They have the ability to replenish their numbers, as well as use the power of the Well more freely in other worlds rather than being limited to personal expressions of the Well, and they have both taken to using all four of the Methods of Survival - though of course they both have a slight preference, the Katati valuing Meta Manipulation and the Kast valuing Meta Empowerment somewhat more than the other Methods. The Galactic Harmonium has survived to the present despite the war with the Disharmony, and is a respected member of the Shard Union, and one of the most often elected during the Centennial Election to represent the Shard Union. The Kast however have also grown in power and number, with many Akuna being able to gather Veda without interference from the Katati due to the large size of the network, and many Kast groups have even found themselves in places of power, such as among the leaders of the Mazakh Empire, or their famous assimilation with the House Calarian house of Calaris in Cosmos. The war between the Kast and Katati is still ongoing in a fashion, as the Katati still seek to purge the perversion of the Well known as the Deep from existence, and the Kast still desire to take back their home shard and rule it, even if they have created empires in other Shards. The Kast as a result are a well known threat on the Shard Union's threats, thus forcing them to operate in secrecy in most civilized Shards, though they enjoy free presence in Mejeya and the Dark Demesne due to how they have no qualms about their behavior and activity - often angering the Katati. Because of the spread of the Well to other worlds, other forms of Well users who do not follow the philosophy of the Katati or Kast exist, such as the Santore Empire's Deep Guard and the Tower's Mytreni. While there is a one galaxy government in the Shard, it is still of a galactic size and already had a prominent number of unexplored planets and a deep criminal underworld before the introduction to the Network, so it doubles as a frontier Shard as well, and many Meta factions have presence within it - though there is truthfully no Kast within it, as the Katati can sense when they enter via the Meta. The culture and items of the Shard are extremely widespread throughout the Network in general, with even many non-Well users wielding Sunglaives, as well as the ubiquity of blasters from the Shard and Warp drives built into Meta Ships based off the Shard's technology. The war with the Disharmony near the Great Gap is ongoing, but is in general seen as completely manageable, and they are currently researching ways to mend the hole in the SG forcefield. As it stands, Faraway is one of the most well known Shards in the Network, and almost any traveler of the Network will eventually visit it at least once.
