It looks like the Equestrians set off a megaspell they called 'Tabula Rasa' and screwed up badly...

  45. [2015-09-16 14:05:08] * Bookwright nods. The spell is the work of a long moment. It infuses Get_Lost with a little bit of the essence of the pegasus. Somehow, she feels lighter on her hooves.
  46. [2015-09-16 14:05:11] * CopyCat does not find any changelings. Instead she finds Shatara tinkering with bullets, Bookwright writing in his journal, and Noble_Heart with the military PipBuck talking about clever things that she'd worked out.
  47. [2015-09-16 14:05:12] * Mitzi feels fairly confident that a bug pony couldn't disguise itself as a hellhound. Too different in shape. She thinks
  48. [2015-09-16 14:05:52] * CopyCat breathes a sigh of relief. "Okay, I'm pretty sure we're us still."
  49. [2015-09-16 14:06:07] * Bookwright "That spell will last about four hours, give or take a minute or two."

  51. [2015-09-16 14:09:57] * Golden_Dream churns some thoughts in her mind, eventually settling on "Fer' fuck's sake, alright, so. What do we know about Xero?"
  52. [2015-09-16 14:13:06] * Get_Lost is working on the crates, in the meanwhile offers "these memory echoes... maybe there's a pattern.... mayb we could counter the effect with the proper symmetric spellwave... you know, like balancing a reaction... do you think it's possible?"

  54. [2015-09-16 14:17:48] * Shatara starts breaking down some shells, quietly listening to the others.

  57. [2015-09-16 14:22:32] * Bookwright shrugs at Get_Lost's suggestion. "I don't think it would be easy like that. These memory-spirits are the result of a powerful megaspell. Clearing them out probably requires an equally powerful spell. But protecting ourselves from the effects might be simpler."

  59. [2015-09-16 14:23:33] * CopyCat joins Golden_Dream. "Or wear tin-foil hats on our heads?"

  71. [2015-09-16 14:30:33] * Golden_Dream starts to wander around. "Wait a minute." Her ears perk up as an idea comes to her. A terrible idea. An awful idea. Probably an accurate one.

  73. [2015-09-16 14:32:28] * Get_Lost opens the first two crates, easy peasy, then moves on
  74. [2015-09-16 14:33:20] * Get_Lost keeps humming some sort of pop song and every crate is soon opened
  75. [2015-09-16 14:33:31] * Golden_Dream paces back and forth, twirling her hoof in a circle. "Okay, so. We know she did something bad. We know th' stars got her back. What if Xero is some sorta... Substitute name?"
  76. [2015-09-16 14:34:51] * Noble_Heart points out. "We know that she has offended the Reapers. That she wields terrible power. And that all agents sent by Zebra and Reaper alike have failed to excise her. The Zebras in Roam indicated that this Vault of LIV has caused them great problems in the past and yet they have been unable to destroy it. Despite the power of the Zebra Empire, this cult stands against them."
  77. [2015-09-16 14:35:57] <Golden_Dream> "What if Xero was straight up Zero, like th' number? We know she was punished, what if th' stars punished her by completely erasing all /mention/ of her? Even her name?"
  78. [2015-09-16 14:35:57] * Noble_Heart contemplates. "And we know she doesn't like changelings."
  79. [2015-09-16 14:36:37] <Pink-E> 3The first two crates are filled with enough military supplies to set up a base camp. One crate -- the one that was storing food -- is down to a quarter of it's stock. But that is still four dozen MREs and two six-packs of Sweet Apple Acres (tm) Hard Cider.
  80. [2015-09-16 14:37:20] * Noble_Heart frowns. "Possible. We have met a Spirit of Secrets who could do such a thing. But it seems unlike the stars to do something so subtle, from what We know of them." She tilts her head to one side, contemplating the messages repeated in the church. "What happened to the Shaman that we captured? We cannot remember."

  82. [2015-09-16 14:39:15] <Pink-E> 3The other is similarly depletes of blankets and bedrolls, but still has a dozen spark batteries, several lanterns and hot plates, and a mix of eight weapon and armor repair kits (four each).

  84. [2015-09-16 14:40:38] * CopyCat ear-flicks at Bookwright's talk about echos. "They are echoes, aren't they? Like in a cave or an open hall... or a building like this. But echoes of memories and not sounds." She tilts her head. "Well, memories of sounds. But you know what I mean."

  88. [2015-09-16 14:45:05] <Pink-E> 3The other two cloud crates were as easily opened. One has a plethoria of spare arcanotech equipment and tools -- most of which looks like spare parts for the array -- as well as a military portable radio.
  89. [2015-09-16 14:45:23] * Shatara stares quietly at Get_Lost, unsure whether to be appauled or impressed.
  90. [2015-09-16 14:45:54] * Bookwright "Actually... We do have a device that can protect us, after a fashion. Maybe. But it would only work for one of our number. I still have the Recollector. But we don't have any empty black opals to go in it."
  91. [2015-09-16 14:46:19] * Golden_Dream raises her eyebrows. "Hey. We could take that back to th' airship." Her eyes go wide. Pupils go pinprick. "Oh /shit/, WHERE'S TH' DAMN AIRSHIP?!"
  92. [2015-09-16 14:46:53] * Shatara raises his talons. "THATS WHAT I SAID!...I think..." >.>
  93. [2015-09-16 14:46:56] * Get_Lost hics "to hay the warship!"
  94. [2015-09-16 14:47:08] <Pink-E> 3The other, the one with the hardest lock, has a rolled up cloud in it.
  95. [2015-09-16 14:47:41] * Noble_Heart tilts her head to one side, looking to her PipBuck. "It is likely that at least one of us has marked its location. Beyond that, Pink-E," she looks up to the spritebot, "do you recall the location of the Airship?"
  96. [2015-09-16 14:49:48] * Get_Lost feels happy. it's been a while, actually
  97. [2015-09-16 14:50:29] <Pink-E> 10"...Colonel? Colonel, something..." The voice is cut off by a thudding coming from the door. The sound of shifting wood. And the creak of the front doors opening. The clopping hooves of several unseen visitors.

  101. [2015-09-16 14:52:47] <Pink-E> 10"Colonel, we can't get through. The coal mines are burning. ...We think the damn stripes set them on fire intentionally to keep us from reaching the Vault."
  102. [2015-09-16 14:53:42] <Pink-E> 10"Or maybe the moment things went pear-shaped, there was an accident down there. I've seen a zebra Vault before. They're not like Stables."
  103. [2015-09-16 14:54:34] * Get_Lost raises the can "ro the coal mines! yush!"
  104. [2015-09-16 14:55:56] <Pink-E> 10"Luna damn them! We should have just hit this place with the Black Rose!"
  105. [2015-09-16 14:56:13] <Pink-E> 10"The zebras living in this town are innocent victims, Major. That Vault has been using them as a shield. We don't slaughter innocents. We're ponies, not monsters."

  108. [2015-09-16 14:58:27] * Noble_Heart frowns and glances about a few moments, contemplating that. "We wonder. Do you suppose the Spirits of Memories despise Xero as much as those who control Roam?"
  109. [2015-09-16 14:58:41] * Noble_Heart pats Pink-E. "Good. Then the Airship is not lost."
  110. [2015-09-16 15:05:18] * Golden_Dream gives a sigh of relief. "Okay, good. Where is it?"
  111. [2015-09-16 15:08:30] <Pink-E> 3"Outside the smoke," Pink-E tells Golden_Dream.
  112. [2015-09-16 15:10:38] * CopyCat shivers, taking one of the spare hard cider's from Get's find. She takes a sip, and starts coughing. "*Ack!* S-smooth..."
  113. [2015-09-16 15:10:51] * Golden_Dream raises a hoof. "Bet you anything that th' smoke won't let us through until we kill th' source of it."
  114. [2015-09-16 15:12:35] * Bookwright "I won't take that bet because I think you're right."
  115. [2015-09-16 15:13:21] * Noble_Heart tilts her head to one side. "Or do something the spirits within it wish to be done. The source may not be simple. It is possible that the fog is itself a remnant of the Tabula Rasa." She furrows her brow. "Around Roam there is blackened land, poisoned by an ancient megaspell, that still lingers with such intensity that even far above in the air it caused Us pain to pass
  116. [2015-09-16 15:13:21] * Noble_Heart through. Something so toxic and terrible that it might kill even an Alicorn with its radiation."
  117. [2015-09-16 15:17:22] * Golden_Dream shakes her head. "Or it can be a bit simpler. And th' coal mine might still be burnin'."
  118. [2015-09-16 15:17:47] * Golden_Dream sighs. "Either way, this next part ain't gonna be good fer' anyone's lungs."
  119. [2015-09-16 15:18:11] * Golden_Dream starts putting away the booty and stops at the cloud. "Anyone gonna get this?"
  120. [2015-09-16 15:28:01] * Mitzi looks to Noble_Heart, "Uh thought radeetion heals yur kind."
  121. [2015-09-16 15:30:07] * Bookwright "Shatara, why don't you grab this bundle of rolled up cloud and stick it in your sack or something? We might be able to use it later."
  122. [2015-09-16 15:30:28] * Shatara gathers the useful portacloud.
  123. [2015-09-16 15:30:31] * Noble_Heart nods to Mitzi. "Ordinarily, it does. Whatever megaspell was used there must have been truly horrific for it to leave such a scar on the land."
  124. [2015-09-16 15:33:28] * Golden_Dream hoists up the eleven (11) remaining bottles of cider, seven (7) lanterns, seven (7) hot plates, four (4) weapon kits, four (4) armor repair kits, and fourty eight (holy shit) MRE's.
  125. [2015-09-16 15:34:14] <Pink-E> 3As Shatara picks up the cloud, he feels the tingle of static electricity. It makes his feathers poof.
  126. [2015-09-16 15:35:23] <Pink-E> 3The cloud may be fluffy and white, lacking any rain, but it is holding quite a charge.
  127. [2015-09-16 15:37:23] * Noble_Heart watches Shatara poof up. "Perhaps it is the remains of their power generator?"
  128. [2015-09-16 15:37:30] * CopyCat giggles, looking at Shatara's static-poofed feathers. "That's a good look for you, Shatara. Very dashing."
  129. [2015-09-16 15:38:33] * Bookwright "I think picking up such a charged cloud was rather startling for poor Shatara. He looks rather shocked."
  130. [2015-09-16 15:39:47] * Shatara groans and sticks it in his nicely insulated leather pack, grounding himself and preening his feathers.
  131. [2015-09-16 15:41:17] * Golden_Dream ponders. 'You know, havin' a cloud generator around would be pretty bitchin' actually."

  149. [2015-09-16 16:09:42] * Golden_Dream waits, hesitantly. This was a kind of ghost she knew. The one that lingers, a revenant, it will not die. "We need t' know what's down there. Now, what would've stopped us that's down there? A vault door, right? Maybe? How could we open it if the case?"
  150. [2015-09-16 16:15:41] * Noble_Heart frowns. "The magical cutting tools from Fillydelphia would do such a job."
  151. [2015-09-16 16:17:08] * Mitzi looks to Golden_Dream, then holds up her claws

  153. [2015-09-16 16:18:40] * Mitzi notes, "Ghost voices say Vault eez not as gud as Ponee Stable. Uh cud dig tru maybee?"
  154. [2015-09-16 16:18:51] * CopyCat clams herself after considering wandering around this foggy town at night and smiles at Mitzi. "Yes, we have the best lockpicks in Equestria!... er, Beyond Equestria!"
  155. [2015-09-16 16:21:21] <Pink-E> 3At a glance, the PipBuck holds all manner of data: journals, maps, mission status reports and more.
  156. [2015-09-16 16:21:43] * Noble_Heart takes a moment to examine the PipBuck. "There are many pieces of information here. We are uncertain how much of it is useful."
  157. [2015-09-16 16:22:51] * Shatara stares incredulously at Noble_Heart.
  158. [2015-09-16 16:27:40] * Golden_Dream swiftly erases any mention of putting dicks in doors and instead puts in "Meet with your friends in the hospital, we're going in the Stable in the coal mine that /might/ be what's causing huge memory loss spikes. Your airship is outside the smoke wall."

  160. [2015-09-16 16:28:49] * Golden_Dream "You'll know the password when you get to Pink-E, who's guarding the vigil up there."
