BACKGROUND : GROWING up in a family of 5 that was almost always never together at the same time made seoyeon reluctant to reach out to her family. lost in the fascinating world of forensics, she always dreamed of becoming a forensic investigator. if it weren't for the pressure from her brothers on becoming a police detective like them, she thinks she might have done well in forensics. as a child, she had to grow up without her family home much. her father was spending nights in his office poring over case files for a client, her mother was required to attend company parties and her brothers spent their university years training in a police academy across the country and finishing paperwork once they got their jobs. seoyeon was often alone and she grew used to it. as far as she could remember, her brothers had always been engrossed in crime/action movies, choosing to go to police academy because they firmly believed that they could be hero-like and make a difference too. while seoyeon sometimes watched with them, she was more analytical and often annoyed her brothers because she pointed out contradictions and odd things about clues in crime shows. her brothers made a resolution to get her to love the movies the way they do which didn't go well with seoyeon. they eventually moved back to korea as their parents have decided to switch offices for a change of lifestyle. when it was seoyeon's turn to choose a career, her brothers emphasised the greatness of police academy so much she was swayed and picked it over her lifelong dream of becoming a forensic investigator. to this day, she regrets her decision and holds a grudge against her brothers for that.

SEOYEON'S time at police academy had greatly changed her soft and timid personality. she met friendly people who were deadset on becoming friends with everyone, competitive people who liked to show off their latest skills, even the fellow quiet people who had some extraordinary hidden talents. nonetheless, she graduated with her fair share of sociable experiences like the one time she attended a party (and most definitely the last time) and ended up throwing up after one drink or the time she was dared to scream 'i love you' to a guy she's hardly talked to. she learned to tolerate most people after being forced to spend time with them and found her own voice. seoyeon gradually become more confident with the help of a few close friends. as her graduation neared, she found herself facing two decisions; either sign up to be a bodyguard with her friends or be left behind to be a police detective. fearing she would be alone again, she reluctantly chose to sign up for the body-guarding program. things got more serious than police academy. the program only took in high performing to-be-graduates and the added pressure of performing well caused seoyeon to shrink back into her shy self.
