- >”You want me to race?!” Scootaloo looked up at you wearing a shocked look in her face.
- >Both you and Scootaloo were at home making supper when you told her about the Pegasus Scooter Derby Race.
- Yeah! You’re in the right age category and first prize winner will get their picture taken for the newspaper and a cash prize of 300 bits! Wouldn’t that be cool?
- >Scootaloo looked at the paper that described the race. “Do you really think I could win?”
- Scoots, I’ve seen you on your scooter and you’re a natural.
- >”I don’t know...” she slouches in her chair.
- >You pull out some raw dough that’s been rising out of the oven and toss it on the counter.
- We have plenty of time to train and exercise your wings. Maybe we could even get Rainbow Dash to help us...
- >Working the dough with your hands, you knead it over and over pushing out any air bubbles.
- >Scootaloo seemed much more interested, “You’ll get Rainbow Dash to help me?!”
- I want you to do this for yourself, but if you don’t want to then I can’t force you.
- >”Well, if you and Rainbow Dash think I can, I’ll do it!” she jumps up and down on her chair in excitement.
- That’s great, so all we need to do is submit an application to let them know you’re participating.
- >You began to roll out the dough and stretch it into a flat circle. Rolling up the edges to form the crust.
- >Scootaloo pushes one of the table chairs across the room. She slides it next to you and hops onto the seat looking at what you’re doing.
- >”What are you making? I’ve never seen this before.” She asked while watching you work the dough.
- Ever heard of a pizza?
- >”No, is that a food where you came from? It sounds funny”
- Kind of, but you’ll love it.
- >She leans in a sniffs the dough, “Is that all there is to eat?” You chuckled at her comment.
- Just watch.
- >Taking out some seasoned tomato sauce you begin to apply a generous amount onto the flatten out circular dough.
- >A sprinkle of herbs, baby spinach leaves, green peppers and onions went on top followed by an assortment of other vegetables.
- >Finally the cheese went on top covering everything. “Do we eat it like that?” Scootaloo asked.
- Not quite, we need to cook it for 15 minutes.
- >Placing the pizza on a baking sheet and putting it in the oven, the kitchen was filled with an appetizing and savoury scent.
- >Scootaloo was practically drooling as she sat in front of the oven staring into it. She watched as the cheese bubbled on the surface.
- >”It smells so good. Can’t wait to try it.”
- Go wash up, it’s just about ready.
- >She runs to the bathroom to wash up just as the timer goes off. It’s interesting to think they didn’t have this kind of food in Equestria.
- >Well, there certainly weren’t any Italian ponies as far as you know.
- >Taking the pizza out of the oven, you gave it some time to cool down. Scootaloo was waiting eagerly.
- >”Um, dad?”
- Yes?
- >”Why don’t you have a special somep0ny?” she seemingly didn’t want to anger you again, but she was only a kid and her curiosity was only natural.
- You really don’t need to worry about that, Scoots. In fact, you could say that you’re my special somep0ny.
- >”Eew! Dad! Don’t say that.” She sticks her tongue out in disgust.
- >Maybe that wasn’t the right term. But you play it off with a laugh.
- What I mean is, you’re special to me. I’m happy that you’re living in a nice home and that you’re safe.
- >You take out a knife and start cutting into the pizza. “Well, if you’re happy with having me around then maybe having somep0ny you love would be nice too.” She smiles nervously as you.
- >She was probably not sure how to say it properly.
- You mean you want me to marry a nice mare and we can be one big happy family?
- >”Well... yeah.” She looks down at the table.
- >In all your efforts to be the best you could, even if you felt that you nurse this little foal to the best of your parental instincts you were still a father figure.
- >You sigh to yourself. Would your own inhibitions prevent Scootaloo from growing up properly?
- Scootaloo, don’t forgot. I’m not from here. I’m a human and we don’t date other animals.
- >”But you love me, right?” she asks.
- Of course I do. I’m not watching after you just because.
- >”Then why can’t you love somep0ny else as well?”
- That’s not something I’m ready to do. It’s just... not natural to be in love with an animal.
- >”Does that make me an animal too?” she looks up to you, she looked somewhat hurt.
- >Good going Anon.
- No, Scootaloo. You’re not an animal. You’re a pony, but I’m a human. We’re different species. Different species don’t go seeking outside of their own kind.
- >”Then why do even care about me if we’re so different? You should’ve just left me out on the streets.” She pouted.
- Love is not just what you think it is. It’s... complicated.
- >Neither of you said anything, but you stood there with the pizza waiting to be served.
- >Loading up the slices on one big plate, you bring it over to the table.
- I’ll think about it, OK?
- >Scoots perked up a bit at the idea. Too bad you didn’t really mean it.
- Eat up, you’ll want to eat it while it’s hot and fresh.
- >You brought the slice to your mouth and it was probably the most pleasurable experience you’ve had ever since you came here.
- >The fresh cheese and delicious vegetables was even better than what was back home. A lot of things here are better in fact.
- >Scootaloo sniffed at the slice like a curious animal, but seeing you scarf it down made her hungrier. Picking up the slice she nibbles onto the corner.
- >As if a bomb went off in her mind, her wings snapped open and her expression changed to what could only be described as giddy.
- I take it that you like it?
- >She crammed the pizza into her mouth, almost forgetting that she needed to breathe in order to live.
- >With a heavy pant she looked like she was in heaven, “That’s so delicious, dad! May I have another piece?” she looked at you with her puppy eyes.
- Yeah, there’s more to eat if you want.
- >You pushed the pizza pie closer to her.
- >She grabs another slice and chomps down on it voraciously. You took another bite of your pizza.
- Better slow down there, kiddo.
- >Scootaloo snapped out of her mini feeding frenzy and blushed, “Oops, sorry...” she chuckled nervously. She began to eat it more conservatively, but enjoyed every single mouthful.
- >While you ate, a thought did make you rather nervous.
- >When you were at Rarity’s shop, Fluttershy blabbed her mouth about you having a special somep0ny, which was a complete lie just to get her off your back.
- >Knowing Rarity and Fluttershy, they might end up telling the others and soon you’ll have a bigger problem. If you don’t have a special somep0ny, you risk the chance of alienating yourself from them for lying and having Fluttershy back to harassing you.
- >You screwed up royally at this point.
- >”This is so good! Has anyone else tried this?” she asked excitedly.
- No, but this is a treat we can have once in a while.
- >”But it’s so tasty! I could eat this every day. You should make more for everyp0ny.” She finished off another slice.
- >You managed to eat another slice, but you were still worried about how you were going to cover your ass from the lie.
- >After supper, you and Scootaloo cleaned up the kitchen.
- >It was time for Scootaloo to go to bed.
- >Reading her a story, she began to doze off and before you could even finish, she was already asleep.
- >Turning off the bedroom light, you quietly left her room.
- >As you got ready for bed, the full moon lighted up part of your room with a paranormal glow through the glass window.
- >But you still worried a many things.
- >Sitting there on the side of the bed, many things started to come into full realization.
- >You were the only human in this world.
- >Every year you could expect the estrus to drive these ponies into an unpredictable state.
- >Twilight and AppleJack worried you the most.
- >It worried you if Scootaloo really needed a mother or not.
- >Having a girlfriend by your side wouldn’t be bad either. An actual human female to hold and love.
- >But no matter which way you looked at it, you were alone in this world.
- >Even though the ponies here are the nice and all, it didn’t change the fact that you were never going to see your friends and family again.
- >It would only be a matter of time before their faces would be gone from your memory.
- >With a heavy heart, you tucked yourself under the covers and tried to relax. It took you a while, but you eventually fell asleep that night.
- >You were going to have to go and make a few stops tomorrow and set things right.
- >You woke earlier than usual. The sun hasn’t even risen yet.
- >But you couldn’t fall asleep.
- >Thankfully Scootaloo doesn’t mind getting up early either.
- >Scootaloo asked if you could make some more pizza for breakfast. She was swiftly corrected on that matter.
- >Just as you were wrapping up breakfast, Scootaloo asked you, “Hey dad, are we going to start training today? Is Rainbow Dash going to help?”
- I need to run a few errands first, so why don’t you take your scooter and we’ll go to AJ’s farm. You can play with AppleBloom while I go and do a few things.
- >Scootaloo agrees and gets her stuff ready before you both leave. The sun was beginning to rise, filling the sky with a beautiful crimson gold.
- >Approaching Sweet Apple Acres, Scootaloo spots AppleBloom playing nearby the barn.
- >You ask her where AJ was, she said her big sister was out in the orchard.
- >AppleBloom suggests they go to their clubhouse and they take off leaving a cloud of dust behind them.
- >Heading down towards the orchard you run into Big Mac along the way.
- Hey Mac, is AJ nearby?
- >”Eeyup.”
- Which way?
- >The orchard was bigger than you realized. AJ could be anywhere.
- >Big Mac lifts his hoof and points further deeper into the orchard.
- Thanks Big Mac.
- >He replies again with another “Eeyup.”
- >As you made your way, you weren’t sure what she was going to say. You did rush out of there pretty quickly, but the last thing you wanted was another mare asking for satisfaction.
- >It pained you to see any of them upset, but it was only because of the emotional struggle they probably had to go through during estrus.
- >Before long, you find AppleJack nearby a ridge on the edge of the orchard.
- >AJ was sitting down as she watched the sun rise.
- >The rustling of the grass beneath your shoes alerted her as she glanced at you, but she turned back and wiped something off her face.
- Hey AJ.
- >”Didn’t notice you there, pardner.” She said quietly with a sniff.
- >You didn’t say anything, but you went up next to her and eased yourself down and sat next to her.
- >The fresh, sweet morning air was carrying the scent of new blooming blossoms.
- How are you doing?
- >”I’m fine now, Anon.” She replies quietly again.
- >You both sat their looking at the sun rise for a moment, its warmth radiating on both of you.
- >Taking a quick glance at her face, you could tell she was tired. Up all night stressing herself no doubt.
- About last night, AJ...
- >Her head tilted down, like she was ashamed of herself.
- >Fuck, what the hell do you say in this situation?
- It’s not you AJ, it’s me.
- >Real original.
- I don’t know much about your um... estrus thing... but what I do know is that you’re one of my best friends.
- >”Friends...?” she whispers.
- Yeah, and nothing will ever change that. You gave me a job and you offered me good advice, for that I’m grateful.
- >She sighed heavily as she looked off into the distance. Something was troubling her deeply.
- >Talking about these things is usually therapeutic.
- Is there anything you want to get off your chest? I’m all ears and I like it when you’re honest with me.
- >She thought for a moment, and finally turns to look at you.
- >”You don’t hate me, do you?” she finally replies. Her deep emerald eyes almost pierced your heart.
- Why would I ever hate you? Over yesterday? That’s old news, long forgotten AJ. Is there something else you need to ask?
- >”It’s just that... ever since you been workin’ on the farm, and you did a great thing by taking Scootaloo in as a father, saving the girls from that river, it’s just....” she turns away, her bottom lip trembling.
- >You start to gently rub her back, but she instantly flings herself into your chest and sobs. You’re stunned at first, but you proceed to rub her back.
- >You are not sure how to handle this. In fact you may have made things worst.
- >”You’re the best thing that’s happened to me...” she cries into your chest.
- >It hits you that AJ must’ve had feelings for you, even before the estrus. Knowing AJ, she had more restraint than Fluttershy but even emotions have a breaking point.
- >”Promise me something, Anon...”
- What’s that?
- >”Don’t leave me.” Her voice started to crack.
- >You guess she just wanted someone to comfort her for the time being.
- >”I want you to be with me, Anon. I didn’t realize it till now, but you’re something special to me...”
- >Not again...
- >You actually felt physically sick to your stomach. Not in disgust, but all this emotional outpour from somep0ny you didn’t think that was interested in you.
- AJ, please listen to me.
- >She sobbed quietly into your chest with the occasional sniffle.
- Look at me, AJ.
- >You gently cupped her face and eased her gaze towards you. Her eyes were glazed with tears as they ran down her cheeks.
- AJ, you’re something special. But there’s plenty of fish in the sea and you’ll find a stallion that’ll love you for who you are. These things take time.
- >”They’re not interested in a plain mare like me. All they would care about is rutting me and making me bear their young. But I can feel it in mah heart that you’re the one for me Anon.”
- AJ, I can love you and the others the way a best friend can. But I can’t love you the way you want me to. I’m sorry.
- >She sniffs again as she pulls herself against you, “It ain’t fair... Why is life so unfair, Anon?”
- You have a wonderful family, a job where everyone depends on you and you’re not plain like you think you are.
- >Wrapping your arms around her, you sigh with a heavy heart. These ponies are a lot more human than you expected.
- >There was still the issue of talking to Twilight of what happened.
- Come on, AJ. I don’t like seeing you this way. You’re stronger than this.
- >Taking the corner of your shirt, you wipe away her tears. She looks to you with a warm smile.
- >”You always know how to make a gal feel special.”
- >As the sun continued to rise, you both sat there for a while longer.
- AJ, I have to do some running around quickly. Can Scootaloo stay on the farm for a bit?
- >”Anything for you, sugar cube.” She nuzzles to your side.
- >You get to your feet and start walking back but you turn to see AJ hasn’t gotten up. She sat there watching the sunrise.
- >As you left the farm, the realization that you still had to find a special somep0ny was going to hit AppleJack like a ton of bricks when she finds out.
- >She probably felt better now and with her being back to her old self, she could probably handle it.
- >P0nyville hasn’t quite woken up yet at this hour, but some of the locals were up and about.
- >Twilight’s house seemed quiet, but you had to talk to her. One reason was to check up on her, and the other was to talk about what happened.
- >Knocking on the door, you’re greeted by a sleepy eyed Spike. “Oh, it’s you.” He yawns. “Kinda early don’t you think?”
- I need to see Twilight.
- >”She still might be sleeping though.”
- Well, she can go back to sleep after I see her.
- >You took off your shoes at the entrance and went into her room. Closing the door behind you, it was nearly pitch black except for the bit of morning light that crept through the window curtain.
- >Standing by Twilight’s bed, you sat down on the mattress next to her. She looked so peaceful in her sleep, like she had the best night of her life.
- >One that was at your expense, of course.
- >Perhaps now she’s feeling better and more herself.
- >You gently rub her shoulder, trying not to startle her. Twilight begins to stir from her sleep, and with a deep inhale of air she comes back to life from her slumber.
- >Twilight looks up to you with a romantic look in her eyes, “You came back...”
- I just wanted to check up to see how you were doing.
- >”I’m much better now, thank you.” She says with a yawn.
- >You could still remember the sensation on your finger of what happened.
- About yesterday, no one else needs to know, right?
- >”Of course not Anon, it’ll be out little special secret.” She blushes as she could remember how pleasurable the sensation was. “It’s a shame we can’t do that more often.”
- >At least she’s back to remembering how you feel about the whole human on pony deal.
- Consider it a onetime thing and now we can put it behind us, yes?
- >”I didn’t know humans were so good with their hands. There’s so much about you I wish I could learn.” You have told everything to the best of your knowledge about humans, but you couldn’t give her all the answers.
- >There’s was still the manner of human sexuality that you weren’t so sure about. Being naked in front of a pony wasn’t your idea of fun. Maybe just to satisfy her curiosity you could do it for her this once.
- Well, if you really want to.
- >She perks up, “You really mean it, Anon?” She looks like she was about to explode into an orgasm of happiness.
- On one condition, Twilight.
- >”Oh, of course Anon! You name it and it’ll be done.”
- No touching. No staring for more than what’s needed. I want to have some dignity after this is done.
- >”Anon, this is a purely scientific study. But, I’ll respect your wishes.” She smiles up to you.
- >At least Twilight is back to her old self.
- I need to go do a few things, so when do you need me back?
- >Twilight yawns, “Maybe tomorrow... I just wanna get some sleep...” she falls back into a sleep.
- >Now to go take care of your special somep0ny problem.
- >With that problem now behind you, something needed to be done about covering the lie once and for all.
- >You needed somep0ny that would go along with your charade. But it couldn’t be any of the mane six since they couldn’t lie to their friends.
- >It had to be somep0ny from outside their circle.
- >You are now Scootaloo.
- >Both you and AppleBloom were playing with a ball when Sweetie Belle came by to play with you.
- >As you played, AppleBloom asked, “Your dad didn’t get mad atchu for asking him about a special somep0ny, did he?”
- Kind of... But he said he would think about it!
- >Sweetie Belle seemed perplexed, “Your dad is great, I’m sure he’ll find a nice mare.”
- >”Unless...” AppleBloom interrupted. “We could help him find one.”
- Huh?
- >AppleBloom giggles nefariously and rubs her hooves together. A musical tune is heard in the air.
- >Sweetie Belle clears her throat and starts to sing, “Your dad is really sweet and kind. He’s the best dad that you could hope for! A perfect mare you and I find must find. One to really make his heart sooooaaaaaar!”
- No!
- >The music stops and both Sweetie Belle and AppleBloom pause in the middle of their musical.
- Don’t you remember what happened last time we tried to help Miss. Cheerilee and Big Mac get together?
- >”Oh yeah...” AppleBloom scratched her head as she remembers. “Well, what about mah sister AppleJack?”
- >”Rarity could be a nice matchup for Anon.” Sweetie Belle added.
- >”If Anon marries mah sister, then Scootaloo and I could be like... sisters!” AppleBloom seemed ecstatic at the idea.
- >Sweetie Belle jumps in, “Then he could marry my sister Rarity and we could all be sisters!” she jumps up and down in exhilaration.
- >But you remember the training you had to do.
- I should actually start training for the Scooter Derby, my dad is getting Rainbow Dash to help!
- >”We got some paths you can use here Scootaloo.” AppleBloom lead you and Sweetie Belle to the other side of the farm.
- >You are now Anon.
- >Why you didn’t think of it before, you don’t know why. But the answer is so obvious.
- >Miss. Cheerilee could do it.
- >A ruse of the century this will be!
- >Heading to Cheerilee’s house, you expected she should be up by now.
- >You knocked on the door and it opens where you are greeted by Cheerilee, “Oh, why good morning Anon. How are you feeling today?”
- >Being happy with finding a solution you blurted out without:
- I want you to be my special somep0ny.
- >Cheerilee’s face became flush as you spoke those words, but she suddenly started giving you this look.
- >Smooth move, Anon.
- Let me rephrase that actually, can I come in?
- >Shit, that came out wrong.
- >She blushes even harder.
- >”Anon, I didn’t know you felt this way about me...” she looks to the ground, lightly scraping the ground with her hoof.
- Just let me inside and I’ll explain.
- >She turns around and looks back to you, swishing her tail at you, “Please, come inside.”
- >Cheerilee was even worse when she was not in heat!
- That’s not what I meant...
- >You walk past her and gained entry into her house. Closing the door behind you rub your temples in frustration. Miss Cheerilee was still giving you those looks.
- OK, this is what’s happening...
- >You explained to her how Fluttershy was harassing you and the only way to stop her was to say you had a special somep0ny. It worked, but the only problem is that soon she and the others will find out you lied.
- >So you needed Cheerilee to act as a special somep0ny for a while. By doing so she would ensure you a peace of mind and hopefully during the estrus period, the others would leave you alone.
- But we don’t need to kiss or anything like that! I can take you out for a nice dinner here and there, and we could spend time together working on... teacher stuff... so that way others will think we’re a pair.
- >”So... you need me to pretend to be your special somep0ny?” she asked.
- In a nutshell, yes.
- >Cheerilee seemed upset that you gave her hope only to put her down.
- I know you’re upset. But listen to me, I’m sorry for running my mouth off like that. But you’re the only one I can trust. I need you to help me. Please?
- >You held her hooves in your hand and gave a reassuring light squeeze. She looked down to the floor, still upset over your ridiculous scheme.
- >Time to lie again.
- Who knows, maybe in time I will grow accustom to this and maybe we can be together?
- >Cheerilee looks up to you with hope in her eyes, “Really?”
- Maybe, but I need your help first.
- >She seemed reluctant, but finally she said yes.
- >You and Cheerilee talked about how the two of you were couples in case anyone asked. When folks went to her to confirm the status, she would say yes and vice-versa.
- >Being so grateful, you hugged Cheerilee in gratitude.
- Thank you so much! You have no idea what this means to me!
- >Since that was taken care of, you take your leave to go find Rainbow Dash.
- >Luckily for you, she was flying past Cheerilee’s place as you left.
- HEY!
- >She comes to a screeching halt in midair and flies down to you, “Hey Anon! How are you feeling?”
- I’m fine, but I need to ask for a favour.
- >”Well you’re a couple days late their stud. Too bad you weren’t feeling good.” She smirks.
- >You don’t even....
- You’re joking, right? You really think I would...?
- >She laughs and punches you lightly on the shoulder, “Gotcha! I don’t even think a guy like you could match up to my needs.”
- >Did she... insult you?
- >At least she was joking. Probably the only sane pony around here. “What do you need?”
- Well, there’s this Scooter Derby coming to P0nyville and I was wondering if you could help me train Scootaloo in the coming weeks and months before it arrives.
- >She rubs her chin thinking for a moment, “What’s in it for me? I know I said I’d take the squirt under my wing, but it’s my free time afterall.”
- >That’s true; Rainbow Dash probably had better things to do.
- I don’t really have a lot of money though... It’s not like you would have to be there every day. Maybe three to four times a week?
- >”It doesn’t have to be money, just something for my trouble.”
- Well, how about food? After you help Scoots with some training I can feed the both of you. Ever had pizza?
- >”Never heard of it.”
- Oh, then you’re in for a treat. Scootaloo is at Sweet Apple Acres if you have some time today.
- >”Sure thing, I’ll go on up ahead and meet you there.” She zips off into the distance.
- >Before you could even take a step forward, RD is already back hovering right in front of your face “And don’t forget this pizza thing.”
- Not a problem.
- >With that she takes off again.
- >Heading home, you whip up a pizza for Rainbow and Scoots to enjoy. Putting it in a container along with some beverages, you head down to Sweet Apple Acres to join them in their training.
- >You could see Scootaloo racing up and down a path as fast as she could with Rainbow Dash flying right behind her and coaching her as she went.
- >Poor Scoots look winded.
- Hey guys, how about you take a break for a while?
- >Scootaloo stops on a dime with her scooter and hops off racing towards you. “Hey dad! Did you see how fast I was going?”
- I did, you’re a natural, kid.
- >Rainbow interjected, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, she might be OK but she’s got a trek ahead of her.”
- Well, we all start from somewhere, right? Now how about some lunch?
- >You set up the food and drinks for them and Scootaloo eagerly chows down on a slice. RD sniffed a piece and picked i up, “So what is this exactly? It smells pretty good.”
- Just try it and you’ll see.
- >She nibbles on the corner, and just like Scootaloo’s reaction, RD’s mind was blown. “Woah! This is AMAZING!” she inhales her slice of pizza.
- >Scootaloo smiles, “See Rainbow Dash, I knew you’d like it.”
- >RD was busy stuffing her face, “Can’t talk... eating...”
- >After the two of them finished off the last slice, RD said this was the right payment choice. And so began Scootaloo’s training to enter the Scooter Derby.
- >The both of you moved your training session to a nearby track and field where Scootaloo could race around on the track.
- Hey Rainbow Dash, what do you know about the Scooter Derby?
- >”Not a whole lot, but the kid’s gotta race in some preliminary races to work her ways into the final. So it’s a weeklong event.”
- How do you think she’ll match up?
- >”Kids good, Anon. But this isn’t some fancy shmancy obstacle course race. The most important things are acceleration, endurance and tight turning.”
- So we need to build her muscles more?
- >”For that burst of speed, but it’ll be important she learns to pace herself and wait for the final stretch. No sense in wasting all your energy in the first bit.”
- Is there anything I can do to help?
- >Rainbow Dash looks at you with the most serious expression you’ve seen, “Be there for here.”
- >The next few weeks of training are tough at first, but with Scootaloo persevered. The first bit of training consisted of her increasing the number of laps she can go without stopping.
- >As the weeks went by, you kept making the pizza for RD to keep her happy.
- >There was a snag. Accelaration wasn’t improving by much.
- But she can maintain a top speed for such a long time, isn’t that enough?
- >”Anon, without that burst speed, she’ll be left in the dust.” RD replies regretfully.
- >Scootaloo is flat on her back panting heavily, “Are... are we done...?”
- >Then an idea hit came to you.
- We need a hill.
- >”I gotta admit, this is a good idea.” She said as you both stood and watched Scootaloo putter up a steep street hill near P0nyville.
- >Scootaloo’s wing’s buzzed like crazy as she struggled to push herself up.
- Better go help her.
- >”Anon, let her do it.” She tries to hold you back.
- >You hurry up to be by Scootaloo’s side.
- Come on Scoots, you’re almost there.
- >”It hurts.... my wings...” her wings start to putter out. Finally her wings stop and she falls backwards and rolls a short distances down the slope.
- >Rushing to her side, she had a few scraps as she winces in pain.
- You OK?
- >She sniffled, probably a mix of pain and embarrassment. “C’mon kid, get back up there. You’re not at the top yet.” RD hovered above the two of you.
- Give her a second, will you? She’s just a kid.
- >”Think they’ll give her a second during the race? Just make sure she’s OK and get her back on that scooter.”
- You’re doing great Scootaloo. Just do your hardest.
- >Scootaloo gets back up on the scooter and with a deep breath, she starts to buzz her wings and almost flies right up the slope.
- >There was another snag, she was so close but her wings weren’t strong enough to give her that push.
- >She stumbles on the scooter, but thankfully she catches herself and doesn’t fall. Rainbow sighs in disappointment, “This will take some time...”
- >As the weeks went by, the summer month was fast approaching and you were sent an info booklet and a number tag for Scootaloo.
- >As the race came closer, Scootaloo was become much better than when she started. Not only was her endurance up, but she was able to make it up the steep slope with no problem.
- >All Scootaloo had to work on was her turning and avoiding hazards. RD set up an obstacle course with bales of hay and other objects. Scootaloo observed the terrain and with little effort she zips around the objects and performs aerial stunts.
- >”Not bad, but remember that anything can happen on the track so you must keep a keen eye open and react fast. Think you can do it?”
- >Scootaloo gives a look of confidence, “I’m ready for whatever you throw my way, Rainbow Dash!”
- >She was a natural because she had such good eyesight, she could see a problem ahead and avoid it no problem. But now random objects would be thrown onto the track.
- >As Scootaloo buzzed through the obstacle, random objects fell in her path. She turns and weaves on the track and even hops over them.
- >This kid was unfazed by whatever was thrown at her.
- >RD looked at her stopwatch and was genuinely impressed. “Anon, I think she’s golden. But remember kid, stopping and going to take a lot of energy so sometimes it’s better to slide.”
- Did you catch that Scootaloo?
- >”Easy peasy.” Scootaloo replied with a smile.
- >The first day of the race was finally here. The track was going to change every day for the next 6 days of the event. It’s long winding track run through part of P0nyville and out along the edge of the small town.
- >The folks of P0nyville filled the stands, and even the all your friends and Miss Cheerilee showed up. All expect AppleJack...
- Thanks for coming you guys, this means a lot to Scootaloo.
- >Twilight smiled, “We wouldn’t miss this for the world. We’ll go grab our seats. Good luck, Scootaloo!”
- >”Thanks!”
- >As your friends took their seats, you took out Scootaloo’s number tag and placed it on her.
- Lucky number seven. Are you excited for this?
- >”Excited as I’ll ever be!” her wings buzzed in excitement.
- >At the starting line, a lot of pegasus fillies got ready. Their parents gave them some last bit of advice, and of course some eyes turned to you and Scoots as you made sure her scooter was in working shape.
- >Some of them even snickered.
- >The race was about to start and you gave Scootaloo a good luck hug “I’ll make you proud yet, dad.”
- Just do your best. I’ll be waiting at the finish line.
- >This race had three laps, and Scoots needed to be in the top three to make it to the next race. There were other groups of pegasus waiting to race as well. The announcer is a hot air balloon was yelling into his microphone announcing the start of the race.
- >Everyp0ny hollers and cheers, you as well.
- >”On your marks, get set.... GO!”
- >Like little motor bikes, the pegasus fillies buzz their wings and take off. Scootaloo already rocketed off with the group but soon she was out of sight.
- >The announcer was the only thing you had to know how Scootaloo was doing. “A great start to the first race, and there are quite a few fillies showing some real spirit out there!”
- >”Number 5 is in the lead and the others are in a mess trying to get by. Oh, we have number 7 trying to make her way around the others!”
- >”Number 7 has broken through and is now catching up with number 5 and 8. I’m telling you, this filliy is accelerating like no tomorrow.”
- >You hope she wasn’t over exerting herself, this was only the first lap.
- >”Over the bridge they go and they’re hitting the first turn. OH, number 2 and 3 took a spill into the drink!”
- >It wasn’t long before the fillies were coming into sight, and Scootaloo was leading the pack. The crowd started to cheer as Scootaloo crossed the line and kept going.
- >Only 2 more laps.
- >Again Scootaloo crossed first and finally made her way across the finish line in first place.
- >You run down to the track and picked up Scootaloo, swinging her around and laughing.
- You did it! I’m so proud of you!
- >Scootaloo giggles and hugs you back, the little thing wasn’t even winded at all. “I could go for another race!”
- Calm down, kiddo! You won; you get to go to the next round tomorrow!
- >Scootaloo receives a small red ribbon for winning first place for this race.
- >The next few days were stressful. The competition became fiercer as Scootaloo admitted that she had to push herself harder.
- >On the second and third day, Scootaloo placed second in the races. The fourth day she almost wound up in third, but she accelerated at the last moment and broke into first place.
- >Now the final day was here and there were only ten contestants left. This was going to be a single lap race, so the stakes were high.
- >The one filly that caught your eye was number 13, the one that almost looked like Spit Fire, the captain of the Wonder Bolts.
- >Some of the p0nies have been saying this was Spit Fire reincarnated. But others have been talking about Scootaloo as well. They’ve been calling her the Rainbow Dash of the scooter race.
- >A rather funny name, but RD took it as a compliment.
- >As Scootaloo got ready for the final race, the course has been heavily modified. It was longer with more sharp turns and anything could happen.
- Remember Scoots, don’t let her egg you into speeding up. Save that for the final stretch. Do your best and have fun.
- >”Alright, I’ll just try to keep up best I can.” She replies. You pat her on the head reassuringly.
- >The two of you look to number 13, and she just smirks back at you like she’s already won.
- >Heading back into the stands, the race was about to start.
- >”It’s a lovely day here today and the p0nyfolk are going absolutely wild for some good ol’ scooter racing.”
- >The crowd erupts into a roar of cheers.
- >”That’ right, because first place winner will not only receive a cash reward of 300 bits, but they will also get their photo taken and will be on the front page of the newspaper!”
- >The fillies go to their starting position.
- >”On your mark... Get set...”
- >The tension was already at the breaking point.
- >”GO!”
- >Number 13 blasts by Scootaloo, literally causing her to spin in place. The other fillies are already ahead of her.
- Scootaloo!
- >In an instant, Scootaloo stops dead and her wings buzz as she takes off into the distance. “That was a rough start for number 7.”
- >”That’s right; the one folks have been calling the Rainbow Dash of this scooter race. But others had their eyes on number 13 who’s proven to be a real speedster.”
- >”And number 7 has already caught up to the group. This group is scrambling to pass each other and it looks like number 7 is having some troubles.”
- >Scootaloo will find a way. You know she will.
- >”Number 13 is well ahead of the race and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. I say, she just might be the fastest racer we’ve had this year.”
- >”Oh, and it looks like there’s been a spill on the track! But what’s this? Number 7 has jumped over the pile up and is accelerating even faster now. She’s back on the track and is gaining ground on number 13. Number 21 is also making great progress behind number 7.”
- >”This next part of the track is rather difficult isn’t it?”
- >”Yes it is, this is the steepest slope of the race and it’s a doozy let me tell you.”
- >”What’s the grade on this hill?”
- >”According to our chart it runs for exactly one kilometer and the height reaches 0.2 of a kilometer. So that’s a grade of 20%”
- >”Holy smokes is that a way to go! Let’s hope the little fillies can handle it!”
- >You turn to Rainbow Dash who was sitting next to you
- What was the grade of the slope we used?
- >”I don’t know, about 13% I guess. But 20% is quite a ways to go.”
- >Oh shit...
- >”Number 13 is making great strides on that hill, but it looks like she’s slowing down. Number 7 on the other hand is accelerating up the hill!”
- >C’mon Scootaloo, don’t burn yourself out.
- >”In all my years I’ve never seen a young filly with such tenacity! Number 7 is leaving number 13 in the dust and she’s still going strong!”
- >”Uh oh, looks like number 13 doesn’t take kindly and now she’s accelerating after 7!”
- >”And it looks like the remaining contestants are starting to make their way up the hill. But now number 7 has finally reached the top. Now things get tricky here folks.”
- >”It might be downhill, but if they’re not careful, the sharp turns will send them flying off the course.”
- >Finally, a chance for Scoots to catch her breath.
- >”Looks like 13 has now begun her descent after number 7. And she’s flying down the hill with accurate turns! 13 and 7 are neck and neck!
- >C’mon Scootaloo...
- >”Number 7 is falling behind, but she’s still keeping on the track.”
- >”13 has hit the bottom and is speeding away into the forest section. The contestants better keep their eyes peeled for any low branches that might knock them off balance.”
- >You are now Scootaloo.
- >As you hit the bottom of the hill, you buzzed your wings like crazy and speed up after 13 into the forest.
- >The canopy was thick and the forest was dark, but some of the sun light made its way through.
- >That run up the hill took the wind out of you, but that downhill fiasco was what you needed.
- >You began to feel sweat form on your forehead under the helmet. Number 13 was really good.
- >13 was in your sight as you kept an eye open for any road hazards.
- >Shifting your weight and turning, you zipped and darted around fallen trees and branches. But 13 knew no one was watching and resorted to cheating.
- >She passes under a long branch and grabs onto it. Pulling with all her strength she holds on and let’s go. She continues to speed on ahead.
- >As if time slowed down, you saw the branch swing towards you.
- >Without even thinking, you jump off the scooter and flapped your wings to maintain some air. The scooter kept travelling beneath you.
- >As you fell back towards the ground, your scooter was there to meet you and successfully you land back on it and continued to race.
- >Number 13 looked back to see what happened. She continued to gather speed.
- >You sped after her too. The end of the forest track was in sight.
- >You are now Anon, and it stressed you that the announcers couldn’t see what was happening in the forest.
- >”And we can see the first contestant pulling out of the forest, it’s number 13!”
- >The crowd cheers and stomps in excitement.
- >”And number 7 has made it out. Let me tell you, it’s not easy when you’re almost blind as a bat in that part.”
- >Oh thank God....
- >”Now the final stretch folks, whose gonna win this? Will it be 13 or 7?”
- >You could see number 13 way ahead of Scootaloo. You hope she didn’t tire herself out already.
- >As Scootaloo dragged behind, her tiny little wings burned from exhaustion. But as soon as the finish line came into view and how number 13 was going to win, she remembered.
- >In the back of her mind, she remember stories of how RD performed a sonic rainboom and saved her friend. She remembers all the training she did with you and Rainbow.
- >With renewed energy and a fiery passion burning in her soul she unleashes her all and accelerates at full speed.
- >”What’s this?” Number 7 is speeding up at an alarming rate! Will she make it in time?”
- >Just as she pushed herself to the limit, it was not enough. Number 13 was going to win.
- >With one final burst, Scootaloo gained speed exponentially and left a trail of fire behind her scooter with a loud bang.
- >”Holy smokes! Number 7 has literally burned the track and is now catching up to number 13!”
- >In the last split second just as 13 was crossing the finish line, Scootaloo passed 13 in a fiery blaze. The crowd begins to cheer wildly as cameras flashed.
- >Scootaloo and number 13 came to a screeching halt. You got up from the stands and headed down to the track.
- >”Our judges are waiting for the picture to develop to show us who won in that fantastic display of speed!”
- >You paused and looked up at the announcers in the hot air balloon. The silence and tension was thick.
- >>”Fillies and gentlecolts, number 7 has won the race by a fraction of a nose!”
- >You jump into the air and race towards the track as the crowd stomps and holler.
- >As you make it down to the track, Scootaloo is breathing heavily but as soon as she see’s you she jumps up and hugs you.
- >”Did you see me?! Did you see what happened?!”
- I did! I’m so proud of you sweetie!
- >You hugged her tightly as the crowd cheered and confetti showered the race track. The remnants of the fire from Scootaloo’s speed finally die out.
- >P0nies from the stand, including your friends and Miss Cheerilee pile onto the track and greet and cheer Scootaloo.
- >Rainbow Dash was the first to come up, “I’m proud of you, kid. That was mighty impressive.” Scootaloo was so happy she almost began to cry.
- >The judges and the press came up to take a picture of Scootaloo. She requested that you and Rainbow Dash be included, and they agreed.
- >The next day, you got a copy of the news and there you were. You, Scoots and Rainbow Dash were on the front page. There were even pictures of the fiery blaze that she left in the final stretch of the rac.
- >Scootaloo was so excited to see herself on the front page. You were going to clip out the article and laminate it somehow.
- >You are now Fluttershy.
- >It was the day after the race and you received a copy of the newspaper.
- >Reading the front page, you were happy for Anon and Scootaloo.
- That was quite impressive. But the poor thing was going really fast. She could’ve hurt herself...
- >”That would’ve been so much easier, wouldn’t it?” she said in a snarky voice.
- >The voice was back gain.
- >”Listen, we need to take that paper and give it to somep0nies that would be very interested in it.”
- >This was confusing to you.
- To who?
- >”Read the article! She how it says Scootaloo has been given offers to compete in bigger races for more money?”
- Oh... my... that is quite an opportunity.
- >”Yes, and there’s someone who will capitalize on it. Let’s go.”
- To where?
- >”We need to snoop around CloudsDale, and then if my sources are correct, we head to Los Pegasus. Tell your friends you’re taking a short trip.”
- >You are Anon. It’s been over a week since Scootaloo has won the Scooter Derby.
- >There was many offers to have Scootaloo race in bigger competitions, but after discussing it with Scootaloo, the two of you decided it was better to not.
- >If you said yes, then you would have to travel around Equestria for a long time and go to all these silly interviews.
- >As you sat on the couch reading a book, Scootaloo was playing near the fireplace with her toys. It was late evening as the sky was filled with hues of crimson and blood orange.
- >You hear a knock at the door.
- >Getting up to answer the door, you open it to find two adult pegasus standing on your front step.
- >One female who looked like a ponified version of Joy Turner from My Name is Earl and a male who was somewhat scruffy, but had a chiseled jaw and all around good looks, even if his mane was scraggly.
- Can I help you?
- >The mare took out a newspaper showing a picture of you and Scootaloo on the front page.
- >”See that? That’s my baby and I want her back.” She said spitefully.
