  1. Kirai had already been enraged by the earlier encounter, he'd already lost in front of his students. He'd already had them rush to his defence. He was BARELY keeping himself composed as it was, barely holding his facade of the kindly father and honorable teacher up. He'd blatantly issued a threat to the young teen that came to them with this challenge, demanding a fight with the strongest man here.
  2.
  3. Kirai was all too eager to give it to him, if the boy didn't back down here and now.
  4.
  5. Kirai was all too eager to have an outlet for his rage, to indulge in the urges he was ignoring on a target far, far more suited to it. Staring with a deadly seriousness at Grais as his students begin to throw rocks, tell the swordsman to leave, and generally try to save the poor fool from his folly.
  6.
  7. As Kirai exhales, the sound of rain falling fills the Dojo. Small black droplets of inky water falling from the dark rafters to plop against the floor. At first it was a soothing sound. At first it was almost novel. Quaint.
  8.
  9. At first.
  10.
  11. But then?
  12.
  13. Then it grew, it grew into a downpour, and each drop felt like it had the weight of mercury as it made impact. The very air between the droplets seemed to grow heavy, thick with mana. The illusiory rain seemed to conceal all light and leave one disoriented as they tried to find their bearings.
  14.
  15. But more than that? As the air thickened, it became harder, and harder to breath. The pressure got more and more intense as the downpour came with a fresh fury, driving the unprepared to their knees. The more they tried to gasp for breath, the more they would feel as if they couldn't catch it.
  16.
  17. In reality, there was still plenty of air, but this mass Illusion? This was one of Kirai's Assassination techniques. An indiscriminate technique intended to debilitate everyone too weak to withstand it in a wide area around him. He'd shown a hint of it a few months ago when Julius tested him. He should have shown it earlier, when Naki challenged himm. But unfortunately, it was Grais that was gifted this rare treat...

  20.
  21. Kirai's voice might be heard cutting through the sound of the rain as silence briefly filled the room, and then Kirai would step backwards, disappearing into that rain, into that darkness...
  22.
  23. He was going to play with this one. He was going to take his time to enjoy it, to torment him, to take out all of his rage and frustration on this poor, poor fool...
  24.
  25. Was it wrong? Absolutely.
  26.
  27. Was it against the code? One could argue it was, perhaps.
  28.
  29. Was he going to do it anyway, knowing that? Again. Absolutely.
  30.
  31. The boy had made a mistake choosing today, choosing right now, to issue this challenge. He hadn't taken the time to read the room. He hadn't taken the time to measure his opponent. He'd ignored the warnings given to him, the threats issued.
  32.
  33. Kirai was the Kage-Soke of the Kageken, and Grais? Grais was about to learn a very, very important lesson.
