With the woman’s short cry, a great gush of viscous flame flooded the parking area.
The sinister verdigris flame passed through in an instant, leaving behind only a dome of
shimmering heat that enveloped the entire area and a sigil of fire lines drawn on the ground.
It was the manifestation of a Fūzetsu, a causally-isolated space that severs a section of
reality from the world’s flow, isolating and concealing it.
Wilhelmina did not freeze like the people around her who had been caught within it. She
dropped her hands from her hiked-up apron and skirt, stood stock-still, and without moving
her neck or her eyes, surveyed her surroundings with her senses alone.
