Pastebin Monday: Feb 27, 2017

The next few weeks are going to be a bit spotty when it comes to my schedule, but I'll touch on that near the end of the paste. Until then...

Last week: Last week I streamed on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. All four days, we worked on New Super Mario Bros. 2 Warpless. Going into the week, we had a PB of 53:22, and we slowly worked that down to a time that I'm personally really proud of. Monday, we got down to 50:58. Friday, we broke the sub 50 barrier and got down to 49:59. Yesterday, we got a 49:43 and then a 49:22 later in the day. That was pretty big for me, and I'm officially in the top 3 for the category! I'll probably take a short break from the category, but I'm certainly not done with it yet. I lost 30 seconds on a single level, and I have some other improvements that I'm working on.

This week: This week, I'm going to try to stream Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday and Friday, I'm not entirely sure what I want to do. Wednesday I have a shorter time to stream, so I want to mess around with NSMB2 Any% again and see what kind of improvements I can make there. For Tuesday/Friday, I'm not sure if I want to do a Pokemon game (not really in a Pokemon mood...) or start learning something new. I have two/three games in mind to start learning, but I'd like to do prep off stream for those so you guys aren't bored by my struggling. For those interested (and want to give me their opinion maybe?) the three games are New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and Super Mario 3D World (all three would be Any%)

The irregularity of my schedule is due to work being a bit hectic. I work at a software company and one of our products is "going live" for the first time on Wednesday, so we're expected to be on call during off hours on some nights. I personally have obligations on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, which makes streaming during those times a bit risky. If I was a more casual streamer, it would be nothing because I could just stop the stream at any time. Being a speedrunner, it would be horrible to be on a good run and have to stop because I get a call. That's why I'll be streaming a bit earlier on Wednesday, and for a shorter amount of time than usual. We'll see how it goes. If I get no calls on Wednesday, maybe we'll give it a shot over the weekend.

Also, I wanted to mention that I will be submitting to SGDQ! I am going to submit ORAS Any% and NSMB2 Any%/Warpless. I'm expecting ORAS to be rejected every time, but I still want to give it a shot. NSMB2 I think will be a really good run to try and get in. Any% was in last year, so Warpless this year would be really cool. Either way, I'd be thrilled if it got in, so I'm really pushing for it. That's one of the reasons I've been trying to drive my time down so much, and I think I did a pretty nice job in only a week and a half of playing it.
