BACKGROUND: injeong is from well-off family with parents who are kind, hardworking, and never home. as the eldest to three younger siblings who he can never say no to, he was the mature, responsible one growing up. he puts his siblings’ future and education first, but he’s never been a great student, so he became a trainee right after getting his associate’s degree in music. he’s a good cook and has been playing the guitar since his dad gave him one for his ninth birthday. he still hasn’t come out of the closet yet, especially since some of the other members are so blatantly homophobic, and he doesn’t plan to, either.

PERSONALITY:
- injeong is a bit of a mother hen, although he doesn’t try to be; he’s usually the first to wake up in the morning, regardless of how much sleep he gets, and he makes sure everyone is well fed. as part of the hyung line, he feels responsible for them, so much so that it’s almost an obsession how much he cares for them.
- he gets a little anxious from time to time, but he’s gotten good at dealing with it. spending time with the others usually helps more than locking himself in his room, but sometimes he’ll spew song lyrics to get his worries off his mind. he usually throws out the lyrics afterward; for the most part, they’re too angry.
- he’s incredibly affectionate – sometimes too much so – especially with the maknae line, since they remind him of his siblings. he does his best to make sure everyone feels loved and appreciated and that no one is left out of the loop.
- he can be self-neglecting without meaning to be because he pays more mind to the other members than to his own well-being. he has yet to let it get too far, though, so he’s not worried about it and he doesn’t really care to.
- he’s more comfortable with physical contact than most of the other members. having never been abused or harassed, he can’t quite understand what some of the others have gone through, but he tries to be sensitive to their needs. when he can’t, he tends to let them drift away rather than deal with conflict.

ONSTAGE PERSONALITY: injeong is energetic and cheerful when he’s performing. he has a more happy than angsty presence onstage, unlike the rest of them, which becomes a problem when the songs they’re performing are sad or angry. he doesn’t like to interact with the audience much, but he encourages the other members to, and he’s always happy to meet fans so long as the interaction is brief. in terms of performance, dancing isn’t his strong suit, so for the most part he tries to stay out of the spotlight in favor of letting the dance line show their skills. he has too much of a friendly vibe to ever capture the cool-kid swagger of a rapper, so his main position is as a vocal. he can’t stop smiling whenever he performs.

OFFSTAGE PERSONALITY: injeong is more open offstage. he makes bad puns and has a high-pitched laugh that amuses the members more than the jokes. similar to when he’s onstage, he doesn’t interact with fans as much as he encourages the others to since he knows he’s always been awkward growing up. at fanmeetings, he always refuses requests for aegyo as politely as he can and subtly passes it on to the maknaes. he’s just as cheerful but nowhere near as energetic as he is onstage, and he’s always optimistic and bright.

ON CAMERA PERSONALITY: injeong is quietest on camera, opting for wordless hugs or pats on the arm rather than his much more blatant shows of affection in private. he makes sure not to curse or be too snarky, although he usually doesn’t anyway. while he doesn’t shy away from the camera, he prefers to keep the attention on the other members. he doesn’t talk much on variety shows and things of the like, although he’ll crack a joke or two from time to time. sometimes during other members’ vlives, he’ll walk by and poke their cheek without explanation, just to show affection.

OFF CAMERA PERSONALITY: off camera, injeong is an endless stream of parental instincts and bad jokes. he obsesses over the members’ wellbeing, both mental and physical, and always makes sure they’ve eaten. it can be a bit overbearing at times, but it’s only because he cares about them; he fears he’ll lose them someday, so he tries his best to show them he loves them. he’s affectionate and supportive with unconditional loyalty, sometimes to a fault. the members who don’t get along with him as well tend to think he’s annoying, but he cares about them too and does what he can for them.

HOW ARE YOU WITH FANS: injeong often expresses his appreciation for fans’ support, but too much interaction with fans makes him anxious. he sees them as strangers, almost, so while he’s friendly with them he can’t quite talk to them as easily.

RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE MEMBERS?: yes; PUNCTURE. injeong, who channels constant care and affection for the other members, would be a stark contrast from the toxic relationships that PUNCTURE has been in. it would certainly take some time for their relationship to grow past a simple friendship built off of closeness in age, but eventually PUNCTURE would be a strong source of support for injeong, especially as the only one older than him who he, therefore, wouldn’t feel so fiercely protective of, and injeong has so much love to give that PUNCTURE has never gotten before.

QUESTIONS AND/OR COMMENTS TO KYLIE + I: in an earlier section i put that i’d like there to be a romantic relationship between CATHECT and PUNCTURE, but i think they’d also be a powerful duo just as friends as well. also, for the song name suggestions, 1984 refers to a book that takes place in a society where the government is in total control and the citizens are, in a sense, stuck. i think this would be a totally contrasting take on considering the situations of the members, especially those like ECTOPIC who don’t quite know what they’re doing with their life.
