- Just that second, Vortex materializes nearby with Hammerspace in tow. Hammerspace carries a stinger surface-to-air missile launcher. He screams up angrily at an unseen Doom Machine somewhere in the skyline above us.
- “You're like that fat kid that copied off my third grade spelling test! You know what happened to him?!” Hammerspace screams. “He got detention!”
- And then Hammerspace takes aim and launches the stinger from his shoulder. Again, it makes barely any noise compared to the ongoing commotion. I don't see if he scores a direct hit or if the missile veers off into the stratosphere, and Hammerspace doesn't stick around to see either. Vortex grabs him and they vanish into some unknown passage of space/time just as the blur of Doom Machine's rocketing form stabs a fist through the empty air where Hammerspace's face just was.
- Doom Machine growls and his rocket boosters thrust him back into the sky and away from us. Only the discarded missile launcher remains as evidence of what just happened.
