Today, we all know Christoph Blocher the Swiss industrialist, politician and the former member of the Swiss Federal Council, however, how much do you really know about his past? There is a lot you can learn about a man just by looking at his past decisions, which is why we decided to dive into the early life of Christoph Blocher. Where did it all start, and what led him to have the life that he has now.
Born in Switzerland on October 11, 1940, Christoph Blocher was a son of a pastor, and his family was big. Christoph Blocher was only the 7th child of the eleven children in his family. He led a normal everyday life, with his siblings in a rather smaller house. Later, he was able to serve in the Swiss military and he became the commander and colonel of an Aerial Defense Regiment.
Christoph Blocher then earned a certificate in a school of agriculture called the Wülflingen, after which he decided to take his studies independently for the Swiss Matura in 1961. He was a very smart even in his early ages, as he was able to pass all of the exams in 1964 for the Swiss Matura. Christoph Blocher was even able to pass an additional exam for Latin, which later allowed him to be able to pursue legal studies in a university.
This is when he became interested in law, so he decided to try that out as well. Christoph Blocher studied law at the University of Zürich, in Paris and in Montpellier. On top of everything else, he has a degree in law (DEA), and he was awarded in 1971 with a doctorate in jurisprudence, from his previous University of Zürich. In his time spent at the University of Zürich, Christoph Blocher was able to co-found the Student's Ring, which helped oppose the protest of the students in 1968 together with the left-wing politics.
He is currently married to Silvia Blocher, and they have four children. Similarly, to her husband, Silvia Blocher is a very strong and independent woman who has a lot of strict points. She never takes 'No' for an answer, which is one of the reasons Christoph Blocher decided to marry her. Once, when they were driving to their petrol station going to their home, Silvia Blocher and her husband had a rather interesting conversation.
Many topics were exchanged, as Christoph Blocher ended up asking her through a joking matter "Aren't you happy that you married me? I have now become the Federal Councilor and you are just like my first lady", to which Silvia Blocher dryly replied: "If I married another man, then he would have now become the Federal Councilor and not you". One thing's for sure, if there is anyone who can talk like that to him, it is his wife. Here, they have shown a strong relationship and a great sense of humor, as many people forget that celebrities are still just people.
