  1. Norman had always been a man of few words. More so when it came to his son Ruby. But now here he was, contemplating the words that would be coming out of his mouth as soon as he had found his son. For earlier in the day he had found out from his wife that his son had been having what would seem to be sexual relations. Now, for Norman, that was great news. He now knew that his son was indeed interested in women. The problem, however, was that the girl he has allegedly been having relations with was the daughter of his best friend, Sapphire Birch.
  2.
  3. While he thought it was great news. His wife on the other hand, thought it more disastrous as it could bring forth an unwanted child. Which, again, Norman didn't mind one bit. He felt that Sapphire, while a bit of an odd ball, was a perfect fit and counterbalance to Ruby and his newfound affection for sewing and costumes for his Pokemon, something Norman could never see the appeal in which is why Sapphire is such a breath of fresh air to him as she is such a blunt, rough Pokemon battle loving maniac. Like the Yang to his Yin of sorts. No doubt the child they could bare would be nothing short of a prodigy at Pokemon battles.
  4.
  5. Yet here he was, frantically walking towards the Birch research lab at the edge of Littleroot Town to try and talk to his best friend about this situation and with any luck, he would have gotten there before his wife did and made it seem worse than she makes it out to be. After all, from what he heard, it was only oral pleasure, right? But what would be the right way to tell him? He obviously felt that he couldn't go and just blurt 'Hey man, your daughter is giving my son head and I'm pretty sure they're banging as well.' No, no, this calls for a more delicate approach. Something Norman is not used to doing.
  6.
  7. He made it to the front door of the Lab and had just let himself in. Knowing the Professor wouldn't mind since he was his best friend and all. He walked into a large room with several large machines and desks that were stacked high with documents and files of research data and what looks like pictures of Pokemon footprints. It was dark and he was ready to assume that nobody was home. “Birch!?” Norman yelled into the room. His voice echoed throughout the room which seemed to have fell on deaf ears. Norman turned to leave, seeing that the Professor was not home and possibly out in the field when he saw that the door had opened in front of him and there stood his best friend. Professor Birch.
  8.
  9. “Oh! Hey Norman!” Professor Birch kindly greeted his best friend at the door. He walked in and turned on the light to the large room. Birch had several scratch marks all over his body and had torn khakis along with spots of blood running down his leg from his knee. His lab coat also had rips and tears all over and his side bag was a little dirty.
  10.
  11. “Bad day out on the field?” Norman asked his friend as he went to go and help him.
  12.
  13. “Huh? Of course not! It was a good day today, actually.” Birch said as he simply limped over to the nearest table of documents and shoved them on to the floor and he sat on top of it. “Yeah! I stumbled upon a pack of Poochyena that weren't there in our reports last month. So I decided to get a closer look and they found me out. Got a good exercise trying to run from the little fellas. But they got me good!” Birch had a wide smile on his face as he went into his side bag and pulled out what looked like a first aid kit. He then opened up the white box and pulled out some gauze and some disinfectant and began to treat the wounds on his leg. “So, what brings you here?”
  14.
  15. Norman let out a hefty sigh and looked around the room to see if he could find a spot to sit. And it was then that he found a desk chair over on the other corner of the room but was filled with dirty and ripped clothes. Norman went over and rolled the chair up next to Birch. “May I?”
  16.
  17. Birch looked up from his wrapping of his knee “Huh? Oh, help yourself.”
  18.
  19. Norman then shoved the pile of clothes off to the floor and sat down right next to his best friend. He rested his elbows on his knees and his chin on his hands and began to think. Where to begin? “Hey, do you remember when our wives were pregnant and we had joked about how funny it would have been if one of us had a son and the other had a daughter?”
  20.
  21. The Professor finished his treatment and placed the box down. “Of course!” Birch responded rather enthusiastically. “And sure enough, you had a son, and I had a daughter!”
  22.
  23. “Right.” Norman said to himself rather than agree with the Professor, but Birch gave a small chuckle as if he did respond to his words. “So, may I ask you another quick question?”
  24.
  25. “Sure.”
  26.
  27. “Can you give me a no-punches-pulled-back honest opinion of my son?”
  28.
  29. Birch took a few steps around and adjusted his bandage around his knee before he gave Norman any sort of response. “Ruby?” He made his way back to the table where he originally had cleared off to do his patch up work and he hoisted himself onto the table and looked at Norman as he, too, gave some thought about this. “Well, I never really have been around him much, but, from what little time that I have been around him. I can say that he's a little selfish, rude, ignorant, and a bit narcissistic.”
  30.
  31. Norman lowered his head at every word that left Birch's mouth about his son. Perhaps this may be a bad idea and could possibly lead to problems later. “I see...” Now at a complete loss of words as to break the news to him about their children when the Professor continued.
  32.
  33. “...and yet, my daughter has taken a very big liking to the lad. She's not one to acknowledge types like him, at least. It's how it seems like to me. So, if she likes him. I guess he can't be all bad.” A smile crept onto his face. “Besides, there's a little bit of you in him. With that determination and fire in his eyes when he sets his sights on a goal!” Norman began straiten back up in his seat after these new words of encouragement. “But, I have to tell you that I think he may be gay.”
  34.
  35. Norman almost fell out of his chair after his best friend's last comment. Professor Birch let out another hearty laugh that filled the large room as he planted his hands on Norman's shoulder to keep him from completely falling over. Norman forced out a small chuckle, hoping that it was a joke. “Well, I can tell you he's not gay. That's for sure.”
  36.
  37. “Oh come now old friend!” The Professor hollered as he continued to let small fits of laughter. “You know I was only kidding around!” Norman took a sigh of relief and then took the professor's hand and gently led it off of his shoulder as he was slightly getting annoyed and his friend's constant shaking. He then turned his chair so that he was facing the Professor.
  38.
  39. “Okay, so...” Norman continued, still unsure of how to tell him. “How would you feel if our children were dating each other?” Norman thought this could be a good start.
  40.
  41. “What? Hahaha! Come now, I know they spend a lot of time together, but let's be a bit realistic, they fight and bicker all the time and they don't have much of anything in common.” Birch ranted as he began taking small jabs at Norman. “But, It would be nice. She'd be with an alright guy and from a family that I know and love as well.” The professor then straightened himself out, still with a smile on his face as he was starting to get a little suspicious. “Alright Norman, you may as well tell me what this is all about.”
  42.
  43. Norman looked at his best friend for a moment in one of the most serious of face he could muster for an occasion like this. “What..., What do YOU think this is all about?” Norman asked in a monotone voice but emphasized the 'you' in his words. He rested his chin back into his hands. Not taking his gaze off of the professor.
  44.
  45. Birch was slightly taken back at the question response. He wasn't quite expecting Norman to shoot him back an answer with a question. “What I think is...” he began, looking Norman dead in the eye with a small grin on his face “From all the odd questions you've been asking me here, I'd swear that you were implying that our children are, in fact, dating each other.”
  46.
  47. Norman lost his serious look and curled one side of his lip forming a crooked a smile, despite the fact that this was not the worst of it. He then lifted his head up from his hands and laid back into the chair and began to chuckle.
  48.
  49. “Looks like I got it right.” The Professor dropped his grin for a more stern look and kept his eyes on Norman, who finally noticed his gaze and stopped chuckling and sat up straight.
  50.
  51. “From the look on your face, it would seem that you are not too thrilled at this news.” Norman began to get a little nervous as he began to tap his fingers on his knees. Birch just continued to look at Norman without a single movement. After what seemed like hours to Norman, the Professor cracked a smile and started to laugh.
  52.
  53. “Ha! Of course I'm thrilled about this news!” Birch hollered as he got up from the table and violently patted Norman on his shoulder several times. “I was only pulling your strings man. Take it easy!” he reassured him. “But, are you serious? Are they really going out?”
  54.
  55. “When have you ever seen me joke about anything?” Norman answered Birch's question with yet another question of his own.
  56.
  57. “Yeah, I suppose you're right.” Birch let out a chuckle at Norman's question. “This would actually explain why she has acted a bit different this past week.” Birched then pondered. “She seemed a bit absent minded and preoccupied with something else. Perhaps it was Ruby then.” he then turned to Norman as if he had forgotten that he was in the room. “How did you find out about this? You would think Sapphire would have told me, of all people.” The professor then began to look down and tried to think if she had mentioned anything about her relationship. “Guess not. But how did you find out? Did Ruby tell you?”
  58.
  59. That was when Norman felt as nervous as if he was going to propose to his wife all over again and began to sink into his chair. “...no. Ruby didn't tell me nor my wife either.”
  60.
  61. “Really? Then did my daughter tell you or your wife?”
  62.
  63. “...No. She didn't tell us either.” Norman muttered while sinking lower into the chair.
  64.
  65. Birch then crossed his arms and just looked at Norman. “Okay, time to spit it out. I'm starting to see there is something more to this than just 'they are dating', and from the sounds of it neither of them told any of us so that would mean you must have caught them hugging or kissing of the sort.” Norman choked on his own breath and began coughing at the Professor's statement. “Seems like I hit the right spot, didn't I?”
  66.
  67. Norman stayed silent for a second, then shook his head, now grasping his knees and sending small pains up and down his legs. “You're still a bit off..., but not by a whole lot” His voice was horse and eyes still staring into what seemed like nothingness.
  68.
  69. Birch gave a snort and flung his arms up in the air as if trying to signal defeat. “Alright, whatever, I give up, next thing you're gonna tell me is that they're having sex or something.” He took off his lab coat and flung it onto a pile of papers and turned to leave the room when he he heard laughter coming from his friend.
  70.
  71. “Alright, fine! I tried my hardest to find an alternative way to say this, but I can't for the life of me think of anything!” Norman rose from his seat whilst throwing his own arms up in the air. “Apparently my wife caught your daughter giving our son a blow-job! Okay!? I can only assume they're dating of some sort of they're doing such! Hell, they may even be having sex as far as I care!” Norman paused for a second to take a deep breath, feeling a great weight being lifted from his back. He looked to his best friend to see how he took the news and all he saw was an empty shell of a man with no expression on his face whatsoever.
  72.
  73. “Any..., any reason why you would bring such a thing to my attention?” Birch asked, his tone of voice didn't seem too different than usual.
  74.
  75. “...because it's your daughter and you have a right to know?”
  76.
  77. “right..., right...” Birch then began to scratch his beard. “Just that..., well, how do you react to something like that? Am I supposed to go and punch your son in the ball or something? Should I have an urge to want to kill him?”
  78.
  79. “Whoa, whoa! One step at a time man.” Norman tried to assure his friend “It's only oral sex, it's not like my son knocked up your daughter or anything!”
  80.
  81. “And that's just it!” Birch said rather loudly. “I've thought I had came to terms that my daughter is practically a grown woman. Well, physically at least, and that! She's still a tad bit immature for her age. But, This is something that is inevitable! I just! I can't! I don't...!” Birch then turned to the nearest desk in the room and turned it over, spilling all the contents all over the floor, jars and beakers alike shattered upon impact to the floor and papers flying all over the place. It was then he turned to Norman and had a dumfounded look on his face. “I didn't mean to do that.”
  82.
  83. Both men gave a small nervous laugh and Norman decided to inch himself closer to his friend to try and what would seem like lend him some moral support as hr never expected his friend would snap like this. “Look man...,” Norman began “It doesn't look as bad as you may think. I mean, like we joked before, it's our kids, OUR kids! At least they're not with some other weirdo.”
  84.
  85. “Your son is a weirdo.” Birch interjected.
  86.
  87. “...A weirdo who I'm sure at this point got into your daughter's panties.” Norman shot back rather bitterly as he placed his arm over the professor. Birch gave Norman a dirty look and Norman continued. “The point is this just keeps our families closer together and we should embrace their decision as such.
  88.
  89. “You know,” Birch began “You sound like some Pokemon breeder”
  90.
  91. “I'm merely trying to stay positive about the situation.” Norman answered back. “You said it yourself, this was inevitable, it's part of growing up and why try to stop it?”
  92.
  93. “You want them to have a kid, don't you?” Birch asked.
  94.
  95. "Come again?”
  96.
  97. “I can see it all over your face now. You want them to have a kid cause you think it'll be some super trainer or something.”
