40. Sarah Manning, a streetwise Brit by upbringing, has had a difficult life, living in foster care with a flamboyantly gay foster brother, artist Felix Dawkins, both under the care of their equally tough foster mother Siobhan Sadler, who eventually moved them all to Toronto. All single Sarah really wants is to provide a comfortable and stable life for her adolescent daughter, Kira. Sarah's life changes in an instant when she witnesses a woman who looks exactly like her commit suicide by stepping in front of a train. Witnessing that event is the first step to Sarah discovering that she was and is part of a cloning project, two of her other "sisters", suburban soccer mom Alison Hendrix and Ph.D. microbiology candidate Cosima Niehaus, along with her who collectively try to uncover the nature of the project, including who may be constantly watching them, and if there are other sisters out there about which they do not know. They will find that not all of their sisters would work toward the same goals as them, and that a parallel project has a completely different set of identicals.
 41. A streetwise hustler is pulled into a compelling conspiracy after witnessing the suicide of a girl who looks just like her.
 42. If you find science, conspiracy theories, or psychology interesting- this is the show for you. If you aren't particularly keen on any of those things, you will still probably enjoy this thrill ride! It starts off as an intriguing crime hoax when a woman trying to provide for her child by assuming the identity of a much more well-off woman who happens to look just like herself, and spirals on into a fascinating government experiment on human biology. It has been a long time since I have ever seen such a unique and interesting story to follow along with. Not only is the storyline compelling; the acting is superb, the writing and cinematography are incredibly pleasing to watch. With the perfect mixes of drama, heartwarming moments, comedy, and tragedy. It is a tale with realistic characters that are easy to connect with. If your favorite show is on hiatus and you're looking for something new to fill it's place, most definitely give this one a chance. It is a complex story with more than meets the eye. Engaging. Brilliant. Bravo!
 43. Life was complicated enough. Then, I saw her. A flash of familiarity, followed by a chill of realization, and then that heart wrenching scream of metal against bone. Was that me? No time to think but to wonder, and suddenly I am her, caught in a world of lies and illusion. Nothing is what it seems, and I am not me. Too many questions lie over hidden truth, and conspiracy is the silencer taking aim, an angry angel to make right what they think wrong. But I am me, and now my life belongs to them. I need to run, but I can't. We are connected, and they are coming, testing me, monitoring me. But who are they, and who will be left standing in the end?

 45. Mrs. S: "You know, undocumented, outside the system."

It can also refer to the fact that the clone project to which all of them belong to is considered an 'orphan'. Leekie explained in Season 2 that the research, files and documentation that held all of the genetic history of the clones was lost during a fire. Hence, the project became an Orphan (a product without the steps that it took to be built).

(Quote)

Leekie: Twenty years ago, there was a fire in one of our labs. Several scientists died, reams of data lost, and the original genome was destroyed.

Cosima: So all of this secrecy around the original genome is because it doesn't exist?

Leekie: Yes. The entire project is essentially an orphan. We lost your prehistory, Cosima, and, with it, all record of several synthetic sequences embedded in your DNA. Most of the Project Leda clones, such as Sarah, Alison, and Helena, are heterosexual. But Cosima is gay. Some fans are confused by this since all the clones share identical DNA. However, sexual orientation is not determined by simple genetics. This can be seen in the fact that identical twins, who share the exact same DNA, do not necessarily have the same sexual orientation. Instead, sexuality seems to be the result of complex "epigenetics" where certain genes are "switched" on or off during fetal development. While all the sisters share DNA, they were carried by different mothers and so would show subtle deviations. a5c7b9f00b
