  2.
  3. gushing_granny: part 10 time
  4.
  5. gushing_granny: recap
  6.
  7. gushing_granny: dan is all sad about his shitty life
  8.
  9. gushing_granny: we come to an agravian night sky, dan is slowly walking down a deserted road away from a small village
  10.
  11. gushing_granny: tears are streaming down his eyes
  12.
  13. gushing_granny: "....why?"
  14.
  15. gushing_granny: "why do i have to mess up every thing?!"
  16.
  17. gushing_granny: dan wipes the tears from his eyes, noticing a large rock up ahead in the road, he saunters over to it
  18.
  19. gushing_granny: "for fucks sake, i had energy literally GIVEN to me, and i cant even control it right."
  20.
  21. gushing_granny: dan sighs and sits down on a large rock, its underside covered in blue moss
  22.
  23. gushing_granny: "and now ive yelled at and insulted the one guy that could help me control that power."
  24.
  25. gushing_granny: he sits back, looking up at the beautiful night sky
  26.
  27. gushing_granny: "whats wrong with me?"
  28.
  29. gushing_granny: dan frowns at his own words
  30.
  31. gushing_granny: "well, you know that genius."
  32.
  33. gushing_granny: "you've been treated like nothing your entire life, no wonder you're fucked up."
  34.
  35. gushing_granny: "hell, im pretty much insane for agreeing to come along with nini like that, on this weird ass planet in a different dimension, with no explanation, and without even asking any questions about...."
  36.
  37. gushing_granny: "wait a second....."
  38.
  39. gushing_granny: "wasnt there some guy with her before?"
  40.
  41. gushing_granny: memories resurface in dans mind about the man wearing futuristic armor trying to save him from the daemon
  42.
  43. gushing_granny: he shifts his body a bit, still looking at the radiant stars dotting the atmosphere
  44.
  45. gushing_granny: "i wonder what he's up to....."
  46.
  47. gushing_granny: the scene shifts from dan sitting on the rock on the outskirts of a town in the middle of the forest to an elaborate, futuristic city
  48.
  49. gushing_granny: there is a familiar man walking along the side of a road, headed toward a large building
  50.
  51. gushing_granny: he wears futuristic, but normal looking civilian clothing
  52.
  53. gushing_granny: a large, muscular man with a giant sword strapped across his back walks alongside him, making conversation as they head towards the building
  54.
  55. gushing_granny: "jack, are you sure you want to go through with this? we need you in the military."
  56.
  57. gushing_granny: the muscular man looks worried
  58.
  59. gushing_granny: "general, ive made my decision."
  60.
  61. gushing_granny: "my interests align with the military's no longer."
  62.
  63. gushing_granny: the muscular guy frowns
  64.
  65. gushing_granny: "dont you get all 'official' with me."
  66.
  67. gushing_granny: "i've known you since you were a kid."
  68.
  69. gushing_granny: jack shifts his eyes toward the muscular man a bit as they near the buildings entrance
  70.
  71. gushing_granny: various peoples of different alien species surround the two men as they walk inside, they take notice of the tall muscular man, pointing at him
  72.
  73. gushing_granny: "hey, thats general kincaid!"
  74.
  75. gushing_granny: some of the people start saluting him mockingly, but the general ignores them and keeps talking to jack as they enter the building
  76.
  77. gushing_granny: "i wish to be a pawn of the governments dogs no longer."
  78.
  79. gushing_granny: "why, because of that interrogation?"
  80.
  81. gushing_granny: the general gestures to a rather large scar on jacks face
  82.
  83. gushing_granny: "well, you broke the law again. it was in order."
  84.
  85. gushing_granny: there is a kiosk near the inside of the entrance of the building, jack and the general make their way to it
  86.
  87. gushing_granny: jack remains silent, grunting a bit "hmph."
  88.
  89. gushing_granny: "dont pay any mind to the those guys with the secret coalition guard."
  90.
  91. gushing_granny: "they are assholes, and their methods have nothing to do with the military."
  92.
  93. gushing_granny: "the dumbass high-ranking officials within the ataman and bellatorian government wont do jack shit about them."
  94.
  95. gushing_granny: "those 'assholes' can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it."
  96.
  97. gushing_granny: "you know they've been conducting secret tests within the gamma nexus right?"
  98.
  99. gushing_granny: the general is taken aback
  100.
  101. gushing_granny: "how do you know about that, boy?"
  102.
  103. gushing_granny: "that information would reach my ears way before they reach yours."
  104.
  105. gushing_granny: "i got a pass to planet drakos."
  106.
  107. gushing_granny: "ive been doing some digging in the coalition guards info database there."
  108.
  109. gushing_granny: "i dont know how you did that, but that doesnt seem perfectly legal in my eyes, son."
  110.
  111. gushing_granny: "which is why im leaving the military."
  112.
  113. gushing_granny: the general looks eyes jack up and down, annoyed by that statement
  114.
  115. gushing_granny: "the military needs you jack."
  116.
  117. gushing_granny: "didnt you say that you wanted to help people?"
  118.
  119. gushing_granny: "ill be a bounty hunter or some shit if i want to help people. that isnt the point."
  120.
  121. gushing_granny: "the point is, this military is corrupt from the core, and the government is never going to do anything about it."
  122.
  123. gushing_granny: "also."
  124.
  125. gushing_granny: jack gets close to the general
  126.
  127. gushing_granny: "never tell anyone this."
  128.
  129. gushing_granny: the general looks at jack
  130.
  131. gushing_granny: "you can trust me. you know im good with secrets."
  132.
  133. gushing_granny: "....."
  134.
  135. gushing_granny: "you know that mission i was on?"
  136.
  137. gushing_granny: "generic void stone duty? what happened?"
  138.
  139. gushing_granny: "i...um...accidentally touched the void stone"
  140.
  141. gushing_granny: the general almost screams
  142.
  143. gushing_granny: "WHAT?!"
  144.
  145. gushing_granny: several people look over at the kiosk that jack and the general are standing in front of
  146.
  147. gushing_granny: jack frowns "shut up, will you?"
  148.
  149. gushing_granny: "i dont need those bastards from the bellatorian intelligence corps. to catch wind of this shit."
  150.
  151. gushing_granny: "so, im asking you, if anyone comes snooping, can you cover my back?"
  152.
  153. gushing_granny: "....."
  154.
  155. gushing_granny: "whatever. ill do it."
  156.
  157. gushing_granny: "but ill gut you if you mess up and get caught again."
  158.
  159. gushing_granny: he reaches back with a muscled arm and taps his giant sword
  160.
  161. gushing_granny: jack waves his hand nonchalantly "yeah, yeah."
  162.
  163. gushing_granny: dan and the general pull out small translucent cards from their pockets
  164.
  165. gushing_granny: they hold it up to a small light on top of the kiosk, a small robotic voice chimes loudly
  166.
  167. gushing_granny: "WELCOME, VALUED MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY"
  168.
  169. gushing_granny: "WELCOME, VALUED MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY"
  170.
  171. gushing_granny: jack and the general step away from the kiosk, and through a set of double doors
  172.
  173. gushing_granny: "so, you've got your resignation form filled out, right?"
  174.
  175. gushing_granny: jack holds out his hand with the translucent card in it, a hologram projects from its center
  176.
  177. gushing_granny: it is in the shape of 2 thin, glowing squares intersecting each other, they seem to have alien words imprinted on them
  178.
  179. gushing_granny: "yep."
  180.
  181. gushing_granny: the general and jack stop infront of a door
  182.
  183. gushing_granny: "so, this is the place....."
  184.
  185. gushing_granny: jack eyes the door, a sad look appearing on his face slightly
  186.
  187. gushing_granny: "my final day in the military."
  188.
  189. gushing_granny: he turns toward the general
  190.
  191. gushing_granny: "its been fun."
  192.
  193. gushing_granny: tears well in his eyes, jack breaks eye contact and extends his hand
  194.
  195. gushing_granny: "im sure we'll meet again, sir!"
  196.
  197. gushing_granny: the general folds his arms, looking at jack with a blank face
  198.
  199. gushing_granny: "what are you on about?"
  200.
  201. gushing_granny: "of course we'll meet again!"
  202.
  203. gushing_granny: jack frowns "damn it, dont you know how to express emotions?" he retracts his hand
  204.
  205. gushing_granny: "yeah, but unlike the pansy im looking at, i only do it when its important."
  206.
  207. gushing_granny: "hmph."
  208.
  209. gushing_granny: the muscular high ranking military officer scratches his head "say, why did you ask me to come here again?"
  210.
  211. gushing_granny: "hmm?, oh yeah."
  212.
  213. gushing_granny: "i just wanted to ask you about the whole void stone thing, but i forgot about it until we got to the military base."
  214.
  215. gushing_granny: the general facepalms
  216.
  217. gushing_granny: "how you honestly think your dumbass is going to survive without the military covering your ineptness is beyond me."
  218.
  219. gushing_granny: "ugh, shut up, you dont have to be here remember?"
  220.
  221. gushing_granny: "oh yeah. peace."
  222.
  223. gushing_granny: the general walks back in the same direction that him and jack came from, jack watches him leave
  224.
  225. gushing_granny: he shakes his head, and turns toward the door
  226.
  227. gushing_granny: jack sighs "....now its time for this."
  228.
  229. gushing_granny: he steps into the door, it opens into a spacious office
  230.
  231. gushing_granny: behind a desk stands a person seemingly made completely out of green, glowing energy
  232.
  233. gushing_granny: "welcome, sergeant jack."
  234.
  235. gushing_granny: "you got my resignation request right?" jack closes the door and makes his way over to a chair
  236.
  237. gushing_granny: "yes."
  238.
  239. gushing_granny: jack projects the hologram of the resignation form, it floats over to the green guy
  240.
  241. gushing_granny: "this will just take a moment."
  242.
  243. gushing_granny: the holograms become encased in a white light, and dissapears
  244.
  245. gushing_granny: the green guy closes his eyes
  246.
  247. gushing_granny: jack remains motionless, the green guy frowns, then opens his eyes after a few seconds
  248.
  249. gushing_granny: "the request didnt go through."
  250.
  251. gushing_granny: "what?!"
  252.
  253. gushing_granny: "...."
  254.
  255. gushing_granny: "was it an error with the system?"
  256.
  257. gushing_granny: "nope."
  258.
  259. gushing_granny: "then....what could have gone wrong?"
  260.
  261. gushing_granny: "it seems you have a mission you were scheduled for that you havent completed yet."
  262.
  263. gushing_granny: "wait what, i havent signed up for any missions sin-"
  264.
  265. gushing_granny: jack cuts himself off as memories resurface of his previous mission, and his interrogation session afterwards
  266.
  267. gushing_granny: the green guy looks at him puzzled
  268.
  269. gushing_granny: "wait...umm...oh yeah. forgot about that one."
  270.
  271. gushing_granny: the green guy rolls his eyes
  272.
  273. gushing_granny: "it also seems that you have a summon for a mission briefing."
  274.
  275. gushing_granny: "......"
  276.
  277. gushing_granny: "i just downloaded the location to your a.p.m.d"
  278.
  279. gushing_granny: the small card jack has in his pocket beeps and turns a ghostly blue for a second
  280.
  281. gushing_granny: "alright then."
  282.
  283. gushing_granny: jack gets up
  284.
  285. gushing_granny: "good luck on your final mission."
  286.
  287. gushing_granny: jack nods his head while walking out the door "thanks."
  288.
  289. gushing_granny: fast forward a few hours
  290.
  291. gushing_granny: jack is sitting in a futuristic room, similar to the one he was in before, but with more chairs and lights and stuff
  292.
  293. gushing_granny: he sits down with a group of people, as a rebotic voice chimes on, giving them vital information about the mission
  294.
  295. gushing_granny: "ugh, a level 12 mission? i hate these, its just some big ass monster or something, cant they get the celestials to deal with that crap? damn thing probably doesnt even have loot on it." a random military soldier exclaims
  296.
  297. gushing_granny: jack shifts his attention toward him, ignoring the robotic voice "yeah, no doubt about that. all the celestials do is sit on their pretentious asses all day acting important."
  298.
  299. gushing_granny: a withered old man dressed in large, heavy armor sitting the closest to the robotic voice yells "IVE HAD TO TELL YOU TWO 3 TIMES ALREADY TO LISTEN UP, IF YOU DONT RESTRAIN YOUR VOICES RIGHT NOW, I WILL GIVE YOU A DISHONORABLE TERMINATION, DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?"
  300.
  301. gushing_granny: jack and the other guy roll their eyes and quiet themselves, listening to the robot
  302.
  303. gushing_granny: "this mission will take place on a planet located in dimension #2223456, sector ##@~, region SSV-7"
  304.
  305. gushing_granny: "there are high value targets that need to be recovered safely"
  306.
  307. gushing_granny: jack listens on, stifling a yawn
  308.
  309. gushing_granny: "one, an anima who contains high rarity information about void stones and bellatorian software, designation &*^^#-943-A"
  310.
  311. gushing_granny: jack suddenly perks up "wait, what?"
  312.
  313. gushing_granny: "SHUT UP" the old man exclaims
  314.
  315. gushing_granny: "and two, an adolescent of unknown origin"
  316.
  317. gushing_granny: "he seems to be sapient, has a bipedal hominid body type, and oddly enough, his genetics indicate that they are relatively similar to savarian and bellatorian make."
  318.
  319. gushing_granny: jacks eyes go wide and bloodshot
  320.
  321. gushing_granny: "we are to recover these targets at all costs"
  322.
  323. gushing_granny: jack mutters so the old guy cant hear him "i cant believe this shit."
  324.
  325. gushing_granny: "the hominid boy seems to have acquired a void stone"
  326.
  327. gushing_granny: "this stone is to be collected in addition to the other 2 targets, following containment protocol 2253-6
  328.
  329. gushing_granny: "a mandatory training course lasting 1.938 wave cycles is required to properly follow the containment procedure after acquiring the proper procedure information through brain wave pulse transfer"
  330.
  331. gushing_granny: jack mutters under his breath "that long?!"
  332.
  333. gushing_granny: "afterwards, you will proceed to dimension #2223456, sector ##@~ region SSV-7, and begin the mission."
  334.
  335. gushing_granny: "the anima seems to be harboring the adolescent boy on this planet"
  336.
  337. gushing_granny: "if either of the two show signs of resistance to containment, extreme force is authorized."
  338.
  339. gushing_granny: two of the soldiers sitting at the table high five each other, jack gulps as he looks at them
  340.
  341. gushing_granny: "the atmosphere on this planet consists of 2.6% oxygen, 25% xenon, 15% helium, 40% goraton, 17% hydrogen, and .4% other"
  342.
  343. gushing_granny: "your course will be held in a training grounds that will automatically simulate this atmosphere so that you may be used to it by the end of your training"
  344.
  345. gushing_granny: jack mutters under his breath "damn it. goraton smells kind of weird, like spoiled candy"
  346.
  347. gushing_granny: the mission breifing ends, and the group of soldiers and jack begin making their way to the training grounds
  348.
  349. gushing_granny: jack begins thinking while making idle conversation with the members of his group that are also going on the mission
  350.
  351. gushing_granny: "damn it. i have to find some way to save nini and that kid....what was his name again?"
  352.
  353. gushing_granny: they enter the training grounds, being taken aback by the smell of the simulated atmosphere
  354.
  355. gushing_granny: one of the soldiers speaks "huh, the gravity in here is lighter. this mission is going to be a piece of cake, even if that kid the mission briefing was talkin' about has a void stone"
  356.
  357. gushing_granny: another responds "hell, i'd say this gravity is about 5-8 times lighter than planet bellator, just by the feel of it"
  358.
  359. gushing_granny: he tries jumping, the soldier soars 40 feet into the air without even exerting himself
  360.
  361. gushing_granny: jack looks up at him, still thinking "damn, this is going to be bad...."
  362.
  363. gushing_granny: "if that kid uses that energy....."
  364.
  365. gushing_granny: "hes going to have these guys to answer to......"
  366.
  367. gushing_granny: he looks over at the training grounds "i have to find someway to save those two. hopefully they get the void gear charged by then."
  368.
  369. gushing_granny: "nini, stay safe please....no....i know she is ok, shes strong, and shes got that boy there to protect her....."
  370.
  371. gushing_granny: jack looks up at the night sky
  372.
  373. gushing_granny: "i hope."
  374.
  375. gushing_granny: the scene shifts back to dan, staring at the night sky
  376.
  377. gushing_granny: "oh yeah, nini said something about that guy not having enough energy to teleport us back or something."
  378.
  379. gushing_granny: "hmph."
  380.
  381. gushing_granny: dan sits there silent for a few moments, enjoying the earthy, foreign, sweet smell of the air and the light breeze lazily rolling over his body
  382.
  383. gushing_granny: he closes his eyes "man, my life is weird."
  384.
  385. gushing_granny: part 10 is done, son.
