  13. Greetings Brothers and Sisters:
  14.
  15. As leaders of your prospective Grass-roots Organizations, Community United for Change would like to extend an invitation to you and your organization to be a part of the Emergency Town Hall Meeting this Monday March 5th for 6:30PM at the Historic Saint James AME Church Meeting Hall located at 221 N. Durbigny Street.
  16. As many of you know, Thursday March 1st two members of the Sipp family were pulled over for a police traffic stop which resulted in Justin Sipp III being murder and Earl Sipp being wounded in his leg. There are many questions as to the legitimacy of the initial stop and the subsequent actions that followed.
  17. The history of the New Orleans Police Departments (NOPD) lack of respect and concern for Black People dates back to 1866 where NOPD officers shot on sight anyone Black seen on the streets of New Orleans. As recent as 2005 (Danziger Bridge Massacre and Henry Glover) and 2009 (Adolph Grimes III) the NOPD has continued to demonstrate a culture of racist attitudes that defined the Jim Crow years.
  18. This is why CUC is petitioning your support in bringing the culture of racist attitudes to the forefront once again to permanently address and resolve the culture of hatred that has become the mascot of police behavior in New Orleans. Attached is the announcement for Monday’s Emergency Town Hall Meeting. We trust you will communicate this information with your membership and will join your membership at this important meeting.
  19. CUC would appreciate your alerting us prior to the meeting as to your participation so we can mention your attendance and possible schedule you for brief remarks during the meeting.
  20. As always we appreciate the work you do in our community and we appreciate your membership.
  21.
  22. Thank you again,
  23.
