A sheep's warmth

It happened again. You fucked up again. Stupid stupid Anon. You can never do anything right can you Anon? These thoughts were the only things that plagued your mind as you embarrassed yourself once again in front of your colleagues. Messing up your speech, having your personal computer fail on you for the tenth time this week and generally be clumsy and useless. It was a wonder why they haven’t fired you already. Have things really changed since you were in school or when you entered the workforce? You didn’t think so. You were still this pathetic excuse for a man who can’t do anything by himself.

The negativity persisted until you got home. It was already past midnight by the time you reached and you doubt she was still awake to greet you. You headed straight for the bath, ready to just way away the stresses of the day. As soon as you took off your clothes and sat on the bathtub with the water slowly filling up your tub, the dam finally broke. You teared up and started sobbing silently in the tub, knowing no one would hear you as you released your pent up sadness and lamented silently over your misfortune.

 Knock knock

“Darling are you in there?” Huh? She was still awake? You were sure she was asleep with how the lights in the apartment were off.

“Mmm..Y-yes I am..” You wiped away some of your tears and responded with as much confidence as you can muster, not trying to sound weak or vulnerable to your girlfriend.

“I’m coming in then!” And in came Tsunomaki Watame, wearing nothing but a towel to cover her body. You blushed deeply and looked away, staring at the bottom of the tub as she came over and sat behind you, dropping into the warm water with a relaxed sigh. Despite the fact that your girlfriend was in the tub with you, you couldn’t bring yourself to feel anything other than self-loathing, blaming yourself for making her stay awake this long despite the fact that she usually sleeps at an odd time in the night on most days anyway.

“Y-you don’t have to stay awake for me..” Watame hummed softly as she calmly rubbed as she helped to wash your back.

“Nonsense! I’ll always be awake to help out my dear darling~” You gasped as Watame wrapped her arms around you, embracing you in a tight hug against her naked body, her ample bosoms pressing against your back. For the first time during that long day, you felt something other than sadness or self hatred. You felt...loved. The two of you spent the next couple of minutes in that position, the sounds of each other’s deep breaths the only thing that broke the comfortable silence from time to time.

“...We should get out soon..” You meekly whispered as you felt Watame finally let up on her tight hug, already missing the embrace but you suppressed those feelings. The two of you drying up and Watame quickly voicing out that she will help with the laundry.

Approaching the bed that the two of you shared, you laid down and the thoughts started once again. You don’t deserve her. She’s only tolerating you because she pities you. She would never love someone as pathetic as you. Tears had already formed again as you felt numb all over, the pain wasn’t physical but it might as well be. It was overwhelming. You’re better off dead. She won’t be stuck with someone like yo-

“You’ve worked very hard today haven’t you? It’s okay, just let me spoil you now” You felt Watame embrace you once again, her arms gripping you in a very warm and fluffy embrace. Watame sat up and repositioned the both of you so that your head was lying on her lap and she idly patted your head. You were still tearful but this time not in sadness, but you felt grateful for this girl. The girl was your angel. Your light in this dark tunnel. Although you knew you don’t deserve her, Watame would always be there for you. Watame hummed softly, her hands rubbed your head affectionately as she leaned down to place a quick kiss to your lips. “Just relax darling, leave the rest to me..” Her gentle voice and soft lullaby calmed you down and made you drowsy, your negative thoughts being replaced with thoughts of love for the sheep.

As you drifted off to sleep to Watame’s lullaby, you dreamt of being in an empty grass field, laying on the ground beside your girlfriend without a care in the world. All that mattered was you and your guardian sheep Watame.

Watame stared at your sleeping face, admiring how peaceful you looked as you slept. Content with finally being able to relieve you of your stress, she tucked you in and took her rightful spot beside you. Staring affectionately at your face as she herself drifted off to sleep, having the same dreams as you as proof of her genuine love and affection.
