47. {
48. "q": "Is there a minimum number of kilometres I must drive?",
49. "a": "In order to be eligible for a potential discount, you must drive a minimum of 1,000km during your assessment period as the driver of an eligible vehicle."
50. },
51. {

55. {
56. "q": "What trips will the app record?",
57. "a": "During your assessment period, the app will record all trips where it believes you are driving a car. You will have to go into the app and confirm whether you were the driver or not and your mode of transportation, if need be. If you do not do so, the app will consider you the driver by default after seven days. Please note that your selection is final. Once your assessment period is completed, the app will no longer record any trip."
58. },
59. {
60. "q": "Which trips do I need to confirm as a driver?",
61. "a": "You will need to confirm that you were the driver in all trips where you were driving a car, whether it’s your car or not. If you were driving a motorcycle, a recreational vehicle, or any other vehicle that isn’t a car, you need to confirm that you were not the driver and confirm your mode of transportation. Please note that your selection is final."
62. },
63. {
64. "q": "Can I delete the app when I’m done?",
65. "a": "Yes. Once you receive your confirmation email saying you’ve completed the program, the app will no longer record any trips. You can review the information for past trips for which you were tagged as the driver. However, you will no longer be able to modify your selection for any trips. You may delete the app from your smartphone as well."
66. },
67. {
68. "q": "What are the steps to begin the program?",
69. "a": "After you sign up, you must download the mobile app onto your smartphone. Your login details will be sent to you at the email address associated with your insurance policy. 71. {
72. "q": "Do I need a data plan?",
73. "a": "Yes. You must connect through cellular data to have your driving data uploaded so we can calculate your score and update your potential discount. Your trips will always be saved whether or not you are connected."
74. },
75. {
76. "q": "What are the key requirements needed for the app to work?",
77. "a": "- You must have a compatible smartphone.\n- Location services in your app settings and phone settings must be turned on to record trips.\n- The Motion & Fitness option in the settings of your iPhone must be enabled to record your driving data. (iOS only)\n- You must connect through cellular data to have your driving data uploaded so we can calculate your score and update your potential discount. Your trips will always be saved whether or not you are connected.\n- To ensure your driving data is collected, your phone battery must be charged.\n- Once a trip has been recorded, confirm whether or not you were the driver, as the app will consider you to be the driver by default after seven days. This will allow you to see your score if you were the driver. Please note that you cannot modify your selection afterwards."
78. },
79. {
80. "q": "What if I have to change phones?",
81. "a": "If you need to change phones after you have already started your assessment period, you can just download the app on your new phone and continue your assessment from where you left off. You simply log in using the same username and password you already have."
82. },
83. {
84. "q": "What if I don't see any data or my results haven't changed in my dashboard?",
85. "a": "Make sure location service is turned on in your app settings and phone settings, and that the Motion & Fitness option (applicable to iPhone only) are enabled in the phone settings. These steps are required for your trips to be recorded and displayed on your dashboard. Should the issue persist, please contact us for more information."
86. },
87. {
88. "q": "Does the app use power from my battery?",
89. "a": "Yes it does and this will vary from one smartphone to another. That's why it’s important to have your phone charged, as you will not be able to record any trips without battery power."
90. },
91. {
92. "q": "Does the app use my cellular or Wi-Fi data?",
93. "a": "Yes. Downloading the app will use your cellular and/or wireless data and the app itself will use your cellular data. The app transfers data to calculate your score and potential discount. While roaming, unless your data is turned off on your smartphone, data will continue to be transferred."
94. },
95. {
96. "q": "The app did not record my trip or the beginning of trips. What do I do?",
97. "a": "To start recording data, the application must determine that you are in movement, which can take several seconds. For this reason, it is possible that the beginning of trips is not registered./n/nMoreover, it may occasionally happen that the app does not record a trip because of interference with the phone’s GPS, or in areas with low cellular phone signal. If you notice that this is happening regularly, please contact us."
98. },
99. {
100. "q": "What factors are taken into consideration when calculating my score and discount?",
101. "a": "Following completion of the assessment period, your enrolment discount may be replaced by a personalized final discount (the my Driving Discount) after taking several factors into account: hard braking, rapid acceleration and the time of day that you drive, based on a minimum of 1,000 kilometres driven as the driver of an eligible vehicle.\n\nHard Braking\n\nHard braking increases the risk of being involved in an accident. The system determines a risk factor for hard braking by calculating the ratio of hard braking events to total km driven. A braking is considered as hard when a movement between two geographic positions recorded by the GPS and the linear acceleration measured by the accelerometer correspond to a rapid speed reduction.\n\nRapid Acceleration\n\nRapid acceleration increases the risk of being involved in an accident. The system determines a risk factor for rapid accelerations by calculating the ratio of rapid acceleration events to total km driven. An acceleration is considered as rapid when a movement between two geographic positions recorded by the GPS and the linear acceleration measured by the accelerometer correspond to a rapid speed acceleration.\n\nTime of day\n\nThe less the vehicle is used at night, the more you could save.\n\nDriving at night (between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m.) increases the risk of being involved in an accident. Many elements, such as reduced visibility and fatigue, make this time of day the riskiest. The system therefore uses the time of day that you’re driving to determine your personalized night-time driving factor.\n\nInformation in your insurance file\n\nThe information in your insurance file you have provided us with (e.g., postal code, age).\nThe my Driving Discount is not static and is subject to change upon each renewal of your policy, as of the second renewal following your enrolment in the program."
102. },
103. {
104. "q": "When are my score and potential discount updated?",
105. "a": "After each trip, if you have cellular data, your score and potential discount are both updated right after you confirm your status as the driver for the trip. You have seven days to identify if you were the driver of the vehicle or not. If you were not, you must also confirm your mode of transportation. If you do not tag a trip within seven days of the end of that trip, the application will automatically tag you as the driver of the vehicle and the score and potential discount will be updated."
106. },
107. {
108. "q": "How can I benefit from the maximum discount?",
109. "a": "The better you drive the more you could save. Try to avoid rapid acceleration and hard braking. But your safety must always come first: if you have to accelerate or brake suddenly to avoid an accident, don't hesitate to do so! Also, the time of day when the vehicle is used affects your discount, so the less you drive during high-risk periods (12 a.m. to 4 a.m.), the more you could save."
110. },
111. {
112. "q": "Why is my overall score higher/lower than the average of the scores of my individual trips?",
113. "a": "Longer trips have more influence on your overall score. For example, if you have 10 trips each of one kilometre long that result in a score of 0.0, and you have one trip of 100 kilometres long that results in a score of 5.0, your overall score will be close to 5.0!"
114.
115. },
116. {
117. "q": "If I have to brake hard to avoid an accident, will this reduce my discount?",
118. "a": "We look for a driver's usual behaviour and the frequency of events like hard braking. We know that even the best drivers sometimes need to stop suddenly. One or two instances of hard braking will not necessarily reduce your potential discount. The most important thing is to keep you and your passengers safe. So, if you need to hit the brakes to avoid an accident, don't think twice!"
119. },
120. {
121. "q": "What happens if I have an accident while using the my Driving Discount app?",
122. "a": "Accidents are not taken into consideration when calculating your potential personalized discount. However, this may have an impact on your insurance premium as per our standard practices. If you have questions about your policy or premium, please contact your broker."
123. },
124. {
125. "q": "If I work night shifts, will it have an impact on my potential discount?",
126. "a": "Statistically, you are more likely to be involved in an accident between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m. Therefore, any driving during these hours is taken into consideration when calculating your personalized discount. However, night-time driving is just one of the risk factors that affect your potential savings. The my Driving Discount program also considers rapid accelerations and hard braking to determine your discount."
127. },
128. {
129. "q": "If I go over the speed limit, will this impact my potential discount?",
130. "a": "Speed is not taken into consideration when calculating your potential discount. However, with speeding, it is more likely that you will have hard braking events and rapid acceleration. These two factors (as well as the time of day the vehicle is driven) are taken into consideration when calculating your final discount."
131. },
132. {
133. "q": "How can I save more?",
134. "a": "With Novex Insurance, there are many ways to save, such as combining your home and auto insurance policies. Call your broker to find out what discounts you may qualify for."
135. },
136. {
137. "q": "How do I know what my potential discount could be?",
138. "a": "By checking your dashboard in the app, you'll be able to see your potential discount. You need at least one trip recorded with you as the driver for your potential discount to be displayed."
139. },
140. {
141. "q": "Who is eligible to receive the my Driving Discount?",
142. "a": "A principal driver who has enrolled in the program may obtain this discount for all eligible cars for which they are the principal driver."
143. },
144. {
145. "q": "Can I restart the program if I don't like my final discount?",
146. "a": "No. You cannot restart the program because all of the driving information has already been gathered."
147. },
148. {
149. "q": "Once the final discount is generated by the accumulated driving data, is it retroactive?",
150. "a": "No. The personalized discount based on driving activity will be applied upon renewal after the completion of the assessment period, which consists of up to nine months of data collection."
151. },
152. {
153. "q": "What other coverage can I get from Novex Insurance?",
154. "a": "Ask an insurance broker to recommend the policy that best suits your needs."
155. },
156. {
157. "q": "How is my driving data protected?",
158. "a": "You have our firm commitment in the form of our Privacy Promise. We use care and strict security safeguards when storing or destroying your personal information in order to prevent any unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks. In the event that we transfer personal information to a third party in Canada or across borders, we contractually require that third party to protect your personal information in a manner consistent with our Privacy Promise and with legislation in their jurisdiction."
159. },
160. {
161. "q": "How long will you keep my information?",
162. "a": "As a rule, we keep your information for as long as it is reasonable for us to do so, either for business or legal purposes."
163. },
164. {
165. "q": "Will Novex Insurance share my information with third parties?",
166. "a": "Novex Insurance and our service provider will only use or share your information for purposes consistent with the my Driving Discount program, unless disclosure is required by law, and we will never sell your information to third parties."
167. },
168. {
169. "q": "What should I do if there is an error in the driving data?",
170. "a": "Contact us if there is an error in the driving data or if you have technical problems."
