1. Retromons
2.
3. Premise:
4. Retromons is a format without Items, Abilities, or EVs!
5. Background:
6. Formerly known as MonsJustMons, Retromons is a revival of the defunct Generation 6 OM. Much like its predecessor, it seeks to simplify battling in a way reminiscent of the older games, hence the "retro" in the name.

61. Strategy and Examples:
62.
63. Q. Are any Pokemon unbanned from OU?
64. A. Yes! Cinderace, Darmanitan-Galar, Dracovish, Landorus, Genesect, and Spectrier are all unbanned
65. Q. Are Silvally Formes Legal?
66. A. Yes! Because abilities do not exist, Silvally no longer requires RKS System or a Memory to change its form, much like in Almost Any Ability.
67. Q. Are IVs or Natures affected by Retromons?
68. A. Nope. IVs and Natures add a layer of depth to teambuilding, much like Natures did in Let's Go. MonsJustMons did restrict IVs and Natures, but during the revival we decided the format is better off with their inclusion.
69.
70.
71.
72. Things that benefit from the absence of Abilities, Items, and EVs
73. :regieleki: Now the fastest Pokemon in the format, as there's no scarfers to outspeed it
74. :klinklang: Setup Sweepers in general benefit from the lack of boots, lefties, and choice scarf
75. :skarmory: Entry Hazards can no longer be ignored by Items or Abilities
76. :linoone: :tyrantrum: Priority and Speed-boosting moves are now the only way to gain a speed advantage over faster Pokemon
77. :ferrothorn: :vaporeon: :latias: Leech Seed, Wish, and Healing Wish are now the only ways to heal teammates that lack a recovery move
78. :regigigas: :archeops: : The Bad Ability Squad ™ has been banned because of how overwhelming they become without Slow Start / Defeatist
79. :snorlax: Rest + Sleep Talk is the only recovery option available to Pokemon lacking reliable recovery moves
80.
81. Things that dislike the absence of Abilities, Items, and EVs
82. :dracovish: No Strong Jaw, Scarf, or Band; hell, it can't even get Rain Support from Drizzle
83. :cinderace: :darmanitan-galar: Both mons were sentenced to Ubers because of their abilities, without them (or items for that matter) these mons are much less threatening
84. :bisharp: Knock Off is now irrelevant, Dark types need to settle for other STAB moves now
85. :swampert: Defensive Pokemon that relied on passive recovery to stave off chip damage are now left without that option, limiting their survivability
86. :volcarona: No boots lmao
87.
88.
89. This is an example of the format which most sets will take.
90. :ss/slowbro:
91. Slowbro
92. Ability: No Ability
93. EVs: 1 HP
94. Relaxed Nature
95. IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
96. - Scald
97. - Slack Off
98. - Teleport
99. - Future Sight
100.
101. Here's a sample team, featuring some quirks of the format: https://pokepast.es/4737c137aa0ce2ae
102.
103.
104. The Watchlist:
105. As mentioned, a few Pokemon become much better thanks to the mechanics of Retromons. Here's a list of a few the council has their eye on at the moment:
106.
107. :ferrothorn: Hazard Setters :tyranitar:
108. Without Heavy-Duty Boots, Levitate, or Magic Guard, no Pokemon are safe from Hazard Damage. Flying types are now the only ungrounded Pokemon, and cannot mitigate Stealth Rock damage.
109. :klinklang: Setup Sweepers :volcarona:
110. The absence of Choice Scarf makes it significantly more difficult to revenge kill setup sweepers. Additionally, defensive Pokemon are more vulnerable than before, thanks to the afforementioned Hazards and lack of passive recovery.
111. :regieleki: Regieleki :regieleki:
112. Now the fastest Pokemon in the format, Regieleki cannot be revenge killed. Access to ExtremeSpeed asserts its dominance over Retromons's speed tiers, and Rapid Spin allows it to provide valuable Hazard control for its team; Regieleki only seems to be held back by its coverage, as usual.
113.
