  109.
  110. Techo-libertarianism is NOT "extreme capitalism"
  111. -----------------------------------------------
  112.
  113. I have become slightly uncomfortable with the position many take to the
  114. techno libertarian (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technolibertarianism) bent
  115. of crypto (as in John Perry Barlow) and new tech where they just pronounce
  116. it "extreme capitalism" and feel they are done with it.
  117.
  118. People are accepting this definition and it is offered often by people who do
  119. not actually understand the terms in question. The definitions presented are
  120. inaccurate. It is "fakenews". Ourage media. A false narrative. Pub chatter.
  121.
  122. In techno-libertarianism the emphasis is on freedom, not profit (capitalism) or
  123. growth (neo-capitalism) - it allows and encourages use of technology to aid in
  124. freedom. This is the set of definitions. Intention is important. Freedom is
  125. the goal - NOT wealth or any other associated capitalist construct.
  126.
  127. In the current climate anything not absolute "socialism" (which is often badly
  128. defined also - anyone who thinks the US Democrat party is anything other than widely
  129. right of centre is badly educated on the subject, for example) is attacked in a
  130. sectarian manner. As if this were a sports game where you pick a side. It is not a
  131. sports game. If this needs to be spelled out to you, perhaps you should "sit
  132. this one out on the bench".
  133.
  134. I personally reject socialism because -I have met humans- and with the best will
  135. in the world it encourages a lowest common denominator society. I respect anyone
  136. who can offer a decent argument against this belief of mine - I have heard a few,
  137. never enough to change my mind. Maybe one day. I am fluid. Pragmatic. But for now
  138. my pursuit of freedom is not encouraged by socialist aims. Techno-libertarianism
  139. presents vast opportunity for freedom at this point in time.
  140.
  141. This window is always closed as the status-quo catch up. Be quick.
  142.
  143. Equally in the current atmospherics people are consistently calling meritocracy
  144. "bad" in particular in the same conversations as they denounce blockchain tech
  145. as "bad", for whatever reason (a new one everyday). It's important to take a deeper
  146. look at this in the broad context here - and remember to old saying "if you
  147. hear hooves don't think zebras". The question is:
  148.
  149. Why are societies that reward value/individuals who bring value deemed bad?
  150.
  151. Simple (apply the razor):
  152.
  153. Because it upsets those who bring no value to admit that they bring no value.
  154.
  155. The mass like the comfort of the delusion that "we are all in it together".
  156.
  157. At this point, that's who is driving the media and wide narrative - the lowest
  158. common denominator and their desires and agenda.
  159.
  160. This must end if we are to be able to continue to use the net as is to
  161. effectively and productively communicate.
  162.
  163. There are other narratives above this - some with good intent some not. We
  164. need to offer support to those who are not the evil hiding behind the
  165. nonsense of the masses.
  166.
  167. Choose wisely, or you're not going to make it friends.
