- Scene: HMS Queen Elizabeth powering across the ocean.
- Britisher:
- Are all our plans in place, Leftenant?
- Not so Obvious:
- Indeed they are, Admiral.
- Britisher:
- And the Americans?
- Not so Obvious:
- All blind drunk for their 4th of July celebrations as predicted, sir.
- Britisher:
- So the British take-over of America is imminent.
- Not so Obvious:
- Aye, sir. Our invasion plans are unfolding beautifully. Their armed forces are going to be taken by complete surprise. It will be over before they even realise it's begun.
- Britisher:
- Well, Her Majesty no doubt will be pleased to hear that we've regained the colonies.
- Not so Obvious:
- Our forces forces are poised to attack, Admiral. Everything is prepared.
- You need only give the word.
- Britisher:
- Is everything in place to neutralise the American nuclear deterrent?
- Not so Obvious:
- Aye, sir. MI6 have put an entire department of spotty-faced teenage computer hackers on it. The yanks' IT systems won't know what hit them.
- Britisher:
- And the president?
- Not so Obvious:
- The SAS will launch a surprise assault on the White House at the prescribed moment – and lock him in his tanning booth.
- Britisher:
- Congress?
- Not so Obvious:
- The email promising them all a raise if they shut up and go along with the new regime will be sent the moment operations begin.
- Britisher:
- It looks to me as though this plan can't fail, leftenant.
- Not so Obvious:
- They don't stand a chance, sir.
- Britisher:
- Finally. We'll be able to put a stop to all those hideous Americanisms.
- Not so Obvious:
- That ghastly American accent
- Britisher:
- Their spelling.
- Not so Obvious:
- Ice tea.
- Britisher:
- Football in motorbike helmets.
- Not so Obvious:
- Calling something a biscuit that so clearly is not one.
- Britisher:
- The expression 'Yeehaw'.
- Not so Obvious:
- Who knows, maybe we'll even succeed in explaining the basic concepts of irony and sarcasm to some of them.
- Britisher:
- And we can still bill them for that tea.
- Not so Obvious:
- Yes, finally we can do away with all their permissiveness and free speech.
- Now we can introduce proper rules. British rules. Against hate speech. Against offensive material. Laws against jokes. Like we have at home, sir.
- We can ban anything Her Majesty's government deems offensive and harmful.
- (pause)
- Britisher:
- Leftenant.
- Not so Obvious:
- Yes, Admiral?
- Britisher:
- Turn the ship around, will you?
- Not so Obvious:
- Aye, aye, Admiral.
