- [19:59] Katrin exclaims, "Hey there!"
- [19:59] Katrin exclaims, "You!"
- [19:59] Katrin exclaims, "Yes, you!"
- [19:59] Ramsey asks, "Hm?"
- [20:00] Katrin says, "That's a nifty shooter you got there."
- [20:00] Ramsey says, "That's correct."
- [20:00] Katrin huffs and puffs over, pouncing on a potential customer.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:00] Katrin says, "You need any repair work on it done? Got to keep 'em in ship-shape, y'know."
- [20:00] Ramsey says, "Not currently but if you'd be willing to make a few things for me I'd spoil you in coins."
- [20:00] Ramsey says, "Enchant a few things, the like."
- [20:01] Freezes as her lizard brain processes this. Her eyes practically shimmer with the reflection of gold as she grins widely.
- "Oh, absolutely! What can I do for you, sir?"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:03] "Depends. How good are you?" He'd cross his arms and give a small sigh, "I'm an expert miner with all the ore you could dream of and more. If you could fashion me armor, enchants, maybe an amulet - I'd be more than willing to do business, so long as you're able to handle exalted enchantments."
- He'd tap his foot on the tile.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:05] Aw, shit. The glimmer starts to fade, but she remains hopeful with a silver, forked tongue.
- "Well, sir, while my enchantments aren't quite there yet- oh, they'll get there," she adds. "The armor and an amulet though? Absolutely! And of course, y'know, being a benefactor of what's sure to be a fantastic up-and-coming artificer as myself. That could be a great business relationship, right?"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:06] Katrin says, "I got plans to do -great- things some day! Just ya wait."
- [20:09] Ramsey brought his hand to his chin, thinking on it for a moment. "Come here for a second - I think great business is on the table, yes - But I think you'd be able to reach what I need with a little help from myself."
- The young man would whisper a few things to her should she step forward into range.
- She had no idea just who she'd met - And the benefits that might come her way.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:11] The budding Drakan artificer had learned a great deal since embarking on her sojourn. More than she'd first wagered. But there are always bound to be things she's naïve to. Perhaps for the best.
- Or not.
- Regardless, the call of glory through craft was too strong a call. She strolls right up and lends her ear to the dapper young man.
- "Right, right!"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:11] Ramsey whispers: Ahem.
- [20:11] Ramsey whispers: Every single day after I've mined - I turn approximately five-hundred iron ore to the merchants here in Achyon. Do you think that iron would be better left in your hands to assist your progress?
- [20:12] Katrin whispers: Five h-...hundre-...Jeez. Uh, yeah! Absolutely!
- [20:13] Ramsey whispers: Every artificer I know in the business masters the craft of steel to accelerate themselves. If you think you'd be able to reach the exalted enchantments with the iron I'd give you - Then half of what I mine will be yours.
- [20:13] Ramsey whispers: .. But what can you do for me when you get there? Business is a two-way road.
- [20:13] Katrin nods, then she creases her brow as she starts to do some math, counting on her fingers for a moment and muttering.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:14] Katrin whispers: Thaaat...That would do me, I think. Yeah, I bet I could make a great breakthrough with all that!
- [20:16] Ramsey nods his head, taking a step back and extended his hand in a formal greeting. "The name is Ramsey - My father owns a business handling the processing of metals and the like. What should I call you?"
- The young man placed both of his hands in his pockets, staring back at Katrin.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:19] The Drakan extends her own hand to grab onto his, shaking it heartily. "Hey, how about that. So you're from around here, huh? Call me Kay!"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:23] After their brief shake concludes, he'd take a moment to think. ".. Right. If I'm to be donating several thousand worth of iron to your development, what do you think would be worthwhile for you to give to me?"
- Ramsey wanted to know her thoughts on mutual business. Oh how the tables had turned! The miner was pushing all the hard questions back to her side.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:27] Nothing for free. One of the many lessons she's learned. Kay claps her calloused hands together, practically textured like sandpaper at this point, and rubs them together.
- "Well! You'd have the friendship of a masterful artisan!" she says with another grin, one that just barely shows the tip of a draconian tooth. "Even I know that's not enough though. Most people though, they got projects they want done, right?
- You look like a guy who's going to want work done. I mean -big- work. Not just the same kind of milled stabbers or plates. I bet you can dream bigger than that.
- Am I wrong?"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:29] ".. Haha! You're absolutely correct." The Achyonite grins lightly, tapping his foot on the tile at an accelerated pace. "Friendship comes and goes, however. But!! If this means in the future you'd be able to handle my requests when they come - Then we're in business, I promise you that. I've plenty I need made for myself and few others."
- He'd place his hands in his pockets soon after, giving a light grin as he did so.
- "Tell me, Kay. Where are you from? Here?" He'd point a thumb behind him.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:34] "Ain't that the truth," she says with a little laugh. Her business did not leave much room thus far for lasting friendships.
- "Then it sounds like we've got a deal! It's a pleasure to strike a bargain with you, mister Ramsey, real nice."
- Katrin looks behind him to the stone-walled city of gears and rust and shakes her head.
- "Nah. You want to get technical, I was born up north. I don't truck much with them and the Fireblooded anymore though. Not my thing. I try not to say that too loud, since apparently they really, really don't like the lizards around here."
- She does cast a shifty glance about, just in case.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:36] "Just don't put a dagger to my back and we'll call it water under the bridge." Ramsey reached into his sack and pulled out a large, heavy bag of ore that clinked about. Thrown onto the ground, Ramsey nodded his head.
- "Then this is for you. I can return with three times that if you give me some time. Is this ore to your liking, Kay?"
- Product. On. Demand.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:37] {Item} You picked up Iron x67. Dropped by Ramsey.
- [20:40] There's a soft, sharp whistle from the Drakan as she hears the ore clatter and bounce. She hefts it up, tests its weight, and nods approvingly.
- "Daggers ain't my style, and going against my word ain't either. Other than her tools, it's all an artificer's got at the end of the day, right?"
- That and a legacy, carved however she might. And maybe a mountain of gold to sleep on. It'd beat the mouldy straw mat, no contest.
- "Take your time, much as you need. I can set to work on this and make some nice, solid progress."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:44] Ramsey nodded his head and folds his arms behind his back, looking her over with an analytical gaze. Katrin had an aura of aloofness that Ramsey could appreciate in the moment - She seemed genuinely invested in becoming something worth her mettle.
- Ramsey could sideline a good three-thousand worth of coin in the form of iron if only to donate to their cause. If they were to be making things in the far future, then he wanted to be their biggest sponsor.
- .. But all things aren't gold and opportunity. Friendship was on the table.
- "I don't like to hold on to too much at any given chance. I imagine you'll still be waiting here outside the gates? Or should we meet somewhere more to your liking?"
- A light stretch comes from Ramsey.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:48] Worth her mettle- or metal or metal, as the case may be with the motherlode of iron that Ramsey's afforded her. Friendship, too, might be something she can afford. So far the dapper lad's offered more than most. Actually, more than all of them.
- So far, at best, most things have offered not to eat her. Lucky Katrin.
- "I get that. Setting people off around these parts is too easy, and some are real quick to shoot if you speak wrong," she agrees. "Smart to not keep too much on you.'
- She hums thoughtfully and glances about before settling a bright eye back on Ramsey.
- "I don't usually wait around. I'm not so good that work comes to me yet, but I bet I can process this and be back in a few shakes. I've got an anvil in a hole somewhere. It's a ways off though." Her thumb jabs over her shoulder, back to the east.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:51] Ramsey nodded his head and went to bring his leg up behind him, hand grabbing onto his foot and pulling it slightly. "Take however long you need - I should be able to return within a good amount of time if I'm prioritizing naught but iron."
- He'd bring a hand to his chin and rub it slightly. "Well, then. This has been most fortuitous for you! What say you we meet back in a fair slice of time? I'll have what you need by then."
- He seemed almost too eager to delve back into the caverns.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:53] "Huh. Maybe I should stretch before I hit the tunnels next," she says with a short laugh. "Might not get as much trouble from the Swuisarmes that way."
- Katrin shoots him a fingergun, another grin with flash of a sharp tooth.
- "Let's hope it's both our fortunes, huh? Then I'll meet you back here. Good luck with that iron, Ramsey." Just Ramsey. No 'mister' this time.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [20:54] Ramsey says, "Good luck with your crafts, Kay."
