  9. Great. The interview will be split into two parts. The first half will be a series of “scenarios” that you might encounter whilst moderating. The second half is a series of personal questions.
  10.
  11. LillyToday at 8:04 PM
  12. Ok
  13.
  14. FlamingoToday at 8:06 PM
  15. Here is a list of powers you would commonly have access to. This is not an exhaustive list, but has what you need for this interview:
  16.
  17. AdminGhost - You can exit your body as a ghost (just like the observe or ghost verbs) and re-enter at will.
  18. Kick - Kick a player from the server, with an optional attached message. These are logged, but only to the server, and do not show up on a player's record.
  19. Note - Apply a note to a player's account.
  20. Warn - Apply a warning to a player's account, that they must acknowledge in order to play.
  21. Ban - Ban a player from the server (or optionally, a specific job in the case of a job ban), with an attached message. These can either be times or permanent.
  22. Wind - Paralyze a player's in-game mob.
  23. AdminPM - Send a message directly to a player, that they can respond directly to (the bwoink).
  24. Limited VarEdit - You are able to view variables, but not edit them. This can aid in investigating certain issues.
  25. Check Antagonist - You can check all antagonists and see how they were assigned through the player panel.
  26.
  27. Do you have any questions about these powers before we begin?
  28.
  29. LillyToday at 8:06 PM
  30. Nope I'm alright
  31.
  32. FlamingoToday at 8:08 PM
  33. Great. Let’s begin with the first question then. You are playing in-game when you see the announcement computer say:
  34.
  35. “Donald J. Trump, Assistant, has revived from cryogenics.”
  36.
  37. What do you do?
  38.
  39. LillyToday at 8:10 PM
  40. I would give them a warning saying no names of real people or "meme names"
  41.
  42. FlamingoToday at 8:11 PM
  43. They don’t seem to respond to your attempts to contact them. They seem to be wandering around.
  44.
  45. LillyToday at 8:14 PM
  46. I'd wind them then try to do what I can to get them to notice the messages
  47.
  48. FlamingoToday at 8:14 PM
  49. They simply disconnect after you wind them, not responding.
  50. How would you proceed?
  51.
  52. LillyToday at 8:16 PM
  53. If apply a note to their account of them not changing names, ignoring staff warnings, then let other staff players know if they key does they can also see if they come back and hopefully handle the situation
  54.
  55. FlamingoToday at 8:18 PM
  56. Cool. Let’s move onto another one.
  57.
  58. You’re sitting in the lobby setting up a new character when you notice a flood of attack logs in your window. Two people appear to be fighting to the death. A quick check reveals that neither of them are antagonists, as it is extended.
  59.
  60. How do you proceed?
  61.
  62. LillyToday at 8:26 PM
  63. Ok. First I'd check logs to see if if there is a reason for the fighting, like consent by both players Lore wise, if not, I'd check for who started the fight, see if there is a chat log reason for why? Such as trying to take them from someone or what not, if it was just straight out agression and a person defending them self I'd start a ahelp chat with the ken starting the fight and the one defending get both sides and administer warnings, (ex: if one just started attacking no reason to just grief.) possibly ban the character (no clue if mods or trials can even do that i assume not) if not greif don't have that ability, I'd add warning to their key, contact someone higher than me. And let them handle it accordingly. As what a rule for such event would happen.
  64.
  65. FlamingoToday at 8:31 PM
  66. From your investigation, it seems the two of them had a disagreement. They started hitting each other, but one of them panicked and pulled out a weapon. Things devolved from there until they were both dying.
  67.
  68. How would you apply punishment (if any) in this case?
  69.
  70. LillyToday at 8:35 PM
  71. I'd give them the one with the weapon warning, depending if which one had the weapon, checking in his job also give a warning if he was even allowed to have a weapon, or why they'd have it, but also making sure they would theyd to their jobs, (ex like if the doctor had a knife or shotgun because he'd mostly not keep that kind of weapons or even one at all) it tell them both that, fighting to the death isn't the best I dead and if there is such a serious problem to let security staff handle, or what I believe is best to just walk off and try to not elevate a fight to such a hostile situation.
  72. And to put their selfs in their characters shoes, would they really have that? Would they harm someone else in that fashion, would they take someone life. Because just because you know it's a game your character does not and this is the world they live in.
  73.
  74. FlamingoToday at 8:40 PM
  75. Cool. Let’s do one more before we move onto the second half of the interview. You’re playing the game when suddenly you get an ahelp:
  76.
  77. “Uh... I just got ganked?”
  78.
  79. Jumping over, you see a scientist missing their head. A ling appears to have arm bladed them, and is absorbing another character.
  80. How do you proceed?
  81.
  82. LillyToday at 8:43 PM
  83. id first check to see if the scientest was SSD before becuase i know antag rules do say to ignore ssd players to not attack them or steal from them, then id I'd message the changling and remind them of that rule, warn them to not attack SSD players and revive the sceintist, if staff have that ability, tho i belive its just admins.
  84.
  85. FlamingoToday at 8:44 PM
  86. The scientist was not SSD. The ling says “I was absorbing this guy and the scientist walked in on me. Started trying to disarm me so I killed him.”
  87.
  88. LillyToday at 8:46 PM
  89. well then i would tell the scientist that isnt really ganking, it is an atag round. the job of the changing is to kill and steal DNA (i beileve) and the antag was acting in right to further push RP and game experience.
  90.
  91. FlamingoToday at 8:47 PM
  92. The scientist responds “are you dumb??? He killed me without even saying anything. Do your job idiot! I’m trying to rp”
  93.
  94. LillyToday at 8:50 PM
  95. (oh spicy player! What area of R&D did this happen in?)
  96.
  97. FlamingoToday at 8:51 PM
  98. The ling was absorbing someone in the telescience lab when the scientist walked in on them.
  99.
  100. LillyToday at 8:53 PM
  101. Id respond with telling then scientist that i understand you are trying to play your game but with antag rounds you have the possibly to die. Aurora has a slower walking speed to you do have time for reactions, if the player continues to being hostile id ask if another staff member would be able to assist them or help in that situation.
  102.
  103. FlamingoToday at 8:56 PM
  104. Cool. Let’s move onto the personal questions section, then.
  105.
  106. First question. Do you think there is a difference between a realistic character, and a believable character (as is referenced in the rules)?
  107.
  108. LillyToday at 9:03 PM
  109. yes! i do believe there is a difference you can have a real or believable or you can both. such as its realistic character could be a scientist who is also a great cook but on station nanotreason mostly like wouldnt hire a scientist to be in the kitchen. but i believe a botanist would possibly work in hydroponics. But i believe a believable realistic character would be like a cook but could also grow some plants when they need something with out a gardener.
  110.
  111. FlamingoToday at 9:07 PM
  112. Cool. Let’s move to another question.
  113.
  114. Being a moderator can often be very difficult. You sometimes have to make difficult decisions, whether it be punishing a friend for breaking rules, or even banning someone who really is making an effort to improve, but keeps making mistakes. How do you intend to deal with these situations if your application is advanced to the trial phase?
  115.
  116. LillyToday at 9:10 PM
  117. Well i try to not dwell on all the actions, to learn from them but to handle them professionally and proficiently, if i actually feel stressed over an action i would talk to other moderators about if they have had to similar things and how they dealt with it and move rom there.
  118.
  119. FlamingoToday at 9:12 PM
  120. Cool. This one is a little bit more personal.
  121.
  122. You indicated in your application that you are affected by Irlen Syndrome, and Dyslexia. How do you feel that affects your experience on the server? Do you feel it will affect your abilities as a moderator if your application is approved for a trial?
  123.
  124. LillyToday at 9:14 PM
  125. i dont feel as if it will be a big problem, there are some days it gives be a really bad headache and i cant be watching a screen for long. but the worth thing it has caused for me in the past with ss13 is a bunch of re-reading
  126.
  127. FlamingoToday at 9:15 PM
  128. Cool. Just one last question then. Is it alright if I post this interview to your application thread?
  129.
  130. LillyToday at 9:15 PM
  131. oh yea thats fine
