- >You're not sure what prompted you.
- >You just kind of felt like cleaning your room one afternoon.
- >Picking everything off the floor and tidying up your shelves, you moved on to the hellstorm that was your closet.
- >Shirts, jackets, old toys you never threw away.
- >You're lucky you don't live with your mom anymore.
- >That crazy mare would rummage through your room when you were at school and flip out at you when you got home.
- >If it wasn't about the mess, it was definitely about something she found that you had really hoped she wouldn't.
- >Putting clothes on the hangers and even throwing away some nasty old food that happened to get lost in the hurricane revealed a small box in the corner.
- >You open it up and pull out a red photo album.
- "Holy hell..." you say to yourself as you open up the cover.
- >There was a picture of you when you were still a little kid.
- >Not much older than 6.
- >It was a picture of you being hosed down by your mother with a very angry and embarassed look on your face.
- >You assume it's because of your refusal to take a bath.
- >Unfortunately, it's the youngest picture of you that you have.
- >Your mom told you that was how old you were when you were found.
- >It's not like you had forgotten or anything.
- >You didn't even have a name to your knowledge.
- >Being the clever filly she was, she called you Anonymous, her mysterious child.
- >Perfectly fitting considering the naming scheme of the other ponies in Equestria and considering you had no history or knowledge of yourself beforehand.
- >You continue to flip through the photo album.
- >Several pictures cause you to cringe with embarrassment.
- >Others cause you to burst into laughter at the memory of the events when the photos were taken.
- >Your mom even had a picture of your first dance with her.
- >Another of you and your first fillyfriend.
- "Oh, wow," you out loud and facepalm.
- >There wasn't a picture, but you remember the time your mom walked in on you and your girlfriend during your first time.
- >Your fillyfriend cried, you hid under the covers, your mother was fucking PISSED, and then later cried herself at the thought of her little one growing up.
- >You lie back on your bed as you reminisce upon this particular event and others immediately following for quite some time.
- >You sit up and set the photo album back into your lap.
- >You flip through pages and stop at one in particular.
- >It was several pages dedicated to your class's summer trip to Stableside.
- >Pictures of the scenery, your friends, all of the events!
- >And her...
- >You turn the page and spot her.
- >The most beautiful pegasus you have ever seen.
- >Her long flowy many and that cute bow.
- >You move and lean your back against the headboard of your bed.
- >Staring at the ceiling, your mind, once again, drifts away to memories past.
- >Undoubtedly the best vacation you have ever had.
- >"This is going to be the best vacation ever!" shouted Thunderlane.
- >The rest of the class cheered in response.
- >Manehatten Class of 2'990, the year of course being the Second Era, year 990.
- >First Era is alicorn rule, the Second being after the banishment of Nightmare Moon.
- >You had to beg your mom for a year to allow you to come along with a whole year of hard work to afford the trip as she wouldn't pay for you.
- >You love your mom, but that is just cruel of her to keep you from experiencing possibly the greatest time of your teenage life.
- >But against the odds, you managed to sweet talk her enough, work hard enough, and get the grades to allow you to come along.
- >And now you sit next to your best friend, Thunderlane, as your class of 30 ride in extended chariots south-bound to the coast.
- >There's a reason such a trip costs so much money, and none of you can believe you pulled it together in a year's time.
- >It took from before sunrise to take off up to nearly sunset for you to reach Stableside.
- >The class could smell the sea salt before one of them spotted the ocean in the distant.
- >The large orange globe that was the sun was resting just on the horizon as its reflection shone magnificently off the rippling surface of the ocean.
- >The squadron of chariots landed near the hotel you were all supposed to stay at.
- >The moment everyone checked in, the entire class scattered across the resort to pursue as much fun as possible in the few days you were here.
- >You unlocked your hotel room and Thunderlane spun and bucked the door open with both hind legs.
- >The two of you ran in and jumped on and flipped off of the beds, as is customary when you travel to new and exotic places.
- >After your fun was had, you locked the door and the two of you set out on the town in search of something to do.
- >"Hey, Anon. I heard the drinking age is lower here than it is in Fillydelphia."
- "Say no more," you said with a hand raised.
- >The closest spot was a tiki bar on the boardwalk where the two of you tested your luck.
- >The cheapest alcoholic drink was still outrageously expensive for how small it was, but nonetheless, the bartender mixed it up without a second thought.
- >You payed for the both of you a toasted with Thunderlane to get the weekend started.
- >It was Friday night, and the local clubs were filled to the brim with locals and tourists alike.
- >The first club you found had a massive line outside.
- >The bouncers out front were intimidating enough that you didn't even try to push past.
- >You saw several classmates in line, some closer to the front than others.
- "Looks like they ran here immediately after arriving."
- >"No kidding," commented Thunderlane. "Why didn't we follow them?"
- "Because you're a child who wanted to hop on the mattress 'five more minutes'," you quote.
- >"You can't even fly," he points out while rising off his hooves until he's eye-level with you. "Or do magic. I don't gotta take crap from you."
- >He punches you in the chest with a fore-hoof.
- >You shove him back.
- "Kiss my ass. Let's join 'em."
- >The two of you step into line right after two grey-blue pegasi fillies fly down and land.
- >Thunderlane was about to make a scene before you punch him in the shoulder and shake your head.
- >One of the pegasi looks back at the two they just cut off.
- >Her man and tail were beautifully brushed and she had a large bow in her hair.
- >She saw Thunderlane's annoyed expression, but when she saw you, she looked up with a smile.
- >You smile back as she looks back to the front and begins chatting with her companion.
- >Your stare is broken when Thunderlane kicks you in the side and hovers up to whisper in your ear.
- >"Dude, that chick totally wants you,"
- "Eat shit, Thunderlane."
- >He laughs it off with a "Whatever" and stands back next to you.
- >You must have been standing here for an hour before the two of you were finally allowed inside.
- >So much for not wasting a minute of this vacation.
- >You could hear the music pumping outside long before you drew near the club.
- >Finally inside, you could barely hear yourself talk.
- >"See you later!" shouted Thunderlane as he disappeared into the sea of bodies.
- "Fuck you too," you say to audible only to yourself as your friend ditches you.
- >You take a look around and just make your way to the bar.
- >You don't feel like drinking so you just take a seat and watch the patrons dance and have fun.
- >A grey-blue blur catches the corner of your eye.
- >You look to the seat next to you to see the mare from outside smiling at you with her big grey-pink eyes.
- >You notice that all of her colors seem to be dipped in grey.
- >"Hey," she greets. "Remember me?"
- "You mean I could forget someone like you?"
- >"Assuming you're like your friend over there."
- >She points to Thunderlane across the crowd who was chatting up and flirting with another mare at a booth.
- >He says something with a cocky smile before the filly throws her drink in his face.
- >You laugh at his failed attempts and look back to your new friend.
- "No, thank goodness. I'd probably fail harder than him."
- >"Well then there's hope for you yet."
- >She extends a wing to you.
- >"My name's Flitter."
- "Flitter," you repeat and meet her wing with a hand. "Fl-l-litter," you say again, rolling your tongue on the L. "Flitter-r-r..."
- >"If you're trying to put a sexy spin on it, it's not working."
- "Yeah, my bad. Just being stupid. However, Flitter is one of those names that feels good rolling off your lips."
- >"That's a new one," she said.
- "That's not a pick-up line. I'm being sincere."
- >"Well it was sweet of you nonetheless."
- >The music comes to a quick stop and she hops off her stool.
- >"I'll be right back."
- >Although very skeptical that you have just blew your chances with this mare, you watch as she makes her way through the crowd and up to the DJ's booth.
- >Their mouths move as they exchange words.
- >The nodding of heads is also clearly visible from your vantage point.
- >Flitter pulls out several bits and drops them on the counter, to which the DJ promptly swipes up.
- >Flitter makes her way back to you with a large smile on her face as the first beats of the next song start playing.
- [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaJ4wzDO5fA ]
- >The ponies on the dance floor cheered and started dancing again as the music picked up.
- "What was that about?" you ask as you point to the DJ.
- >"Just a tip to entice him to play a request."
- >She tugged on your shirt sleeve and nodded her head towards the dance floor.
- >"Come on. Let's go and get it on."
- "Wait, what?"
- >She pulled on your hand and dragged you out onto the dance floor.
- >*Well I met an old mare dying on a train* sang the song.
- >You got into it real fast.
- >Flitter danced beside you, flaring her wings at times and rearing back at others.
- >*I say you kill your heroes and FLY, FLY, BABY DON'T CRY*
- >You did your best to impersonate a sideways shuffle with your highly inappropriate shoes, but you made it work.
- >In your opinion, you looked like a complete moron.
- >But then again, no one looks good dancing, and considering how mis-shapen you are compared to ponies, it doesn't matter how you looked.
- >By the time the second chorus came, you were singing right along with the rest of the crowd.
- >When all was said and done, the DJ went back to his regular scheduled playlist.
- >You take a seat at the bar with Flitter once again.
- "May I ask why that song in particular?"
- >"My favorite song," she replies with a shrug.
- >You simply nod your head.
- "You thirsty?"
- >"I was just about to ask you the same. I can recommend something if you'd like."
- "I don't see why not."
- >"You're paying for your own," she said with a sly smile.
- "Fair enough."
- >She waves the bartender over and places her order.
- >He mixes up two purple drinks before you.
- >A purple-pink kind of color.
- >"This thing has a shot of a little bit of everything," she says as she grabs her glass.
- >It was served in a martini glass with a little yellow umbrella.
- >You grab it and raise it eye-level.
- >You raise an eyebrow as you stare at it.
- >It seemed a little too girly for you to be seen with it, but you decided to take a quick sip.
- >Oh WOW!
- >As good as it tasted, it still gave you a burn.
- >"HEY ANON! NICE DRINK!"
- >You look over and spot Thunderlane at the other end of the bar, pointing and laughing at you while bringing a drink to his own lips.
- >You simply flip him the bird and throw back your drink.
- >You spend the evening talking with Flitter and dancing once or twice more.
- >It was getting very late in the evening.
- >Quite a few guests had disappeared, but there were still many left inside.
- >The music had finally died down and last call was sounded.
- >You couldn't hear them, even with the music off.
- >Your attention was pre-occupied with a matter in a little corner booth.
- >You were lost in her raspberry lip gloss.
- >There was no talking, just euphoria.
- >A bouncer walked up and prodded you in the shoulder.
- >"Hey buddy. Miss," he declared. "The club is closing. You need to go."
- >You pouted as you stood, extending a hand to help Flitter from her seat.
- >You walk with her to the door and stand outside in the warm summer air.
- >Compared to inside, it was way cooler and sent a slight chill up your spine.
- >"I hope I can see you again," said Flitter.
- "Y-yeah. Absolutely!" you stutter.
- >Smooth.
- >Flitter floats up and gives you a long, wet goodbye kiss.
- >When she pulls away, you quickly slip your tongue over your lips to taste that raspberry lip gloss again.
- >She giggles at your little move.
- >"I'll see you later," she says as she flies off.
- "You too," you say to yourself as you watch her go.
- >The walk back to the hotel is uneventful, but then again, it's two in the morning.
- >You make it back to your room and reach for the handle.
- >You happen to notice the sock tied around it.
- "Thunderlane, you fucking asshole!" you shout through the door.
- >You go next door to another of your friend's rooms to crash on their floor for the night.
- >The next afternoon found you walking with Thunderlane down the boardwalk to the beach.
- >Various shops and stalls were scattered around the area with many a tourist purchasing useless knick-knacks.
- >You saw one colt from your class walk by with giant, over-sized sunglasses on his face.
- >He smiled as he passed and nodded his head with a "'Sup" with the coolest tone he could muster.
- >The two of you busted up laughing.
- "Where's a good place around here to get some lunch?" you inquire to Thunderlane.
- >"Screw that noise. I want breakfast."
- "It's like 12:30."
- >"Hey, I had a late night."
- "As did I, but I still woke up at 9."
- >"Correction. You had a late night ALONE," he emphasized.
- "Kiss my ass. I don't need to get laid by some two-bit whore to have a good time with a lady."
- >"How dare you!" shouted Thunderlane. "That mare was a saint! You should have seen her ping-pong ball trick."
- >The very thought was actually less than arousing and caused you to gag a bit.
- >"Also, I'd advise bleaching your sheets before going to bed tonight and possibly getting a new tooth brush.
- >You kick him hard to the side and race for the nearest garbage can.
- >A restaurant farther down the boardwalk featured an all-day breakfast.
- >"Sold!" shouted Thunderlane as he galloped to the diner.
- >You woke up early enough to catch breakfast, but a light lunch would be just enough to hold you over until tonight.
- >Before you could enter the diner after him, a voice calls your name.
- >"Anon!"
- >You turn around to spot Flitter and what appears to be her twin or something.
- >"Anonymous!" she shout again, waving a hoof at you.
- >You look back at the resteraunt before saying "Screw it" and walking to greet Flitter.
- >"Hey!" she greets as she throws herself into your arms. "What brings you here?"
- "I could ask you the same, but my pal and I were looking for a bite to eat. He wanted breakfast so here we are."
- >You look up and make eye contact with her companion.
- "Who's your friend?"
- >"Oh!" she lets go of you and walks to her friend.
- >"This is my sister, Cloudchaser."
- >"What's up," she greets.
- "Hey. So since we were just about to grab a bite, how about you two join us?"
- >"I'd like that," said Flitter.
- >"Sure," agreed Cloudchaser.
- >You opened the door for the mares and hold it like a gentleman.
- >You follow them in and find Thunderlane in a booth already about to dig in to a large stack of pancakes.
- >He freezes with his mouth open and tongue hanging out over his food when he looks up and spots you and your new friends.
- >"What the hell are you doing here!" Thunderlane and Cloudchaser shouted in unison, pointing a hoof at each other accusingly.
- >You shove Thunderlane to the side to make room for you to sit in the booth.
- >Cloudchaser is hesitant, but takes a seat and scoots down for Flitter to sit across from you.
- >Thunderlane and Cloudchaser simply stare at each other from across the table.
- >Thunderlane eventually sticks a fork into his stack of pancakes and slowly raises to his mouth.
- >He doesn't blink and never breaks eye contact with Cloudchaser.
- >He chews extremely slowly before swallowing and doing it again.
- "Something tells me you two have met before," you say to break the silence.
- >"Oh yeah," responded Cloudchaser.
- >"I fucked her brains out last night," blurted out Thunderlane, taking another bite of pancakes.
- >Flitter's and your jaws hit the table.
- "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold the damn phone. THIS is the chick that prevented me from sleeping in my own bed last night?"
- >"I knew that's why you didn't come home until this morning," said Flitter. "But I can't believe you actually went home with HIM."
- >Cloudchaser shrugged.
- >"Hey, he caught me after a few drinks and I was in a giving mood."
- >Thunderlane gave a quick laugh.
- >"My ass. I was the one gracious enough to allow you to have some of this," he said extending and flexing his wings.
- >"HA! In your dreams. You were practically crying to me to take you home."
- >"Lies!" shouted Thunderlane, standing on the booth's seat and pointing a a hoof across the table at Cloudchaser. "Lies and slander!"
- >You and Flitter trade a 2-second glance before looking back at the couple beside you.
- "Ho-kay then... I'm not hungry anymore."
- >"Wanna hit the carnival?" suggested Flitter.
- >There was a permanent amusement park located on a large pier jutting out over the ocean.
- >It was free to get in which made it that much more appealing.
- >It was fairly small, what with a small coaster to be the main attraction it seems.
- >There were smaller rides like a carousel, teacups, a ferris wheel, and so on.
- >Food stands and game booths were everywhere.
- >You walked beside Flitter.
- >Thunderlane and Cloudchaser walked on the outside of the two of you.
- "You two act like a tsundre couple who need to get over their insecurities with a good fuck."
- >The two of them glare daggers at you.
- "Haha, oh wait. That's right."
- >Thunderlane jumped and bucked you towards Cloudchaser who in turn jumped and bucked you again, redirecting you and tripping you over into a nearby garbage can.
- >Flitter gasped and covered her mouth while Thunderlane and Cloudchaser vented.
- >You take the garbage can lid from off of your head while laughing as hard as you can.
- >Good thing it was just emptied, else you'd smell like trash the rest of the night.
- >Things quickly calmed down and you spent some 48 bits at the fair alone.
- >Ride tickets were split evenly between the 4 of you, but most of your money went towards a hoofball game.
- >You spent some 15 minutes and threw out your shoulder, but you managed to win Flitter a teddy bear.
- >She accepted it with a kiss to the bear's forehead and then one to your cheek.
- >You smiled and winced as you grabbed your shoulder in pain.
- >You're not quite sure what happened later on.
- >You split to go get some cotton candy.
- >Flitter followed you and as you went back to the other two, they were gone again.
- "Well... What the hell do we do now?"
- >Flitter looked to the sun and then down below at the water.
- >"I have an idea."
- >You scan the city's skyline as the two of you walk alone along the beach.
- >The glow of the city lights against the purple twilight sky really is something beautiful.
- >Not even Manehatten can compare.
- >Of course, there's too many lights and buildings in Manehatten to even see the stars.
- >This city has it just right.
- >You look out over ocean to see that setting sun once again.
- >A warm breeze is blowing in from off of the ocean.
- >You close your eyes and breathe in the warm salt air.
- >You can hear the screams and laughter from the carnival rides in the distance.
- >Summer's coming to an end.
- >As is your weekend.
- >You aim to make the most of the time you have left.
- >As you walk, Flitter allows the fading tide to rush past her on it's way back out to sea.
- >She doesn't flinch when the waves come washing back up at her ankles.
- >You carry your shoes in your hand as well.
- >She seems to enjoy the feel of the wet sand beneath her hooves, and between the toes for you.
- >You let out a deep sigh, catching Flitter's attention.
- >"Something wrong?" she inquires.
- "You can say that."
- >The two of you step off the beach and up some stairs to the street before turning around back towards the carnival.
- "We have to leave in the morning to catch our ride back to Manehatten. I'm just a little upset this has to end so soon."
- >"Huh, no kidding?" asked Flitter. "My sister and I are traveling back to Cloudsdale tomorrow morning as well."
- "Well ain't that something..."
- >The two of you walk along in general silence.
- >A flier stapled to a light pole catches your attention and you stop to read it.
- >'Local Band Playing'
- >'Location: Sea Side Pavilion'
- >'Cost: One-Time Entrance Fee Of 15 Bits'
- >"Oh shoot..." muttered Flitter. "Cloudchaser has our money with her..."
- "Yeah, and if she's with Thunderlane, they're probably getting drunk again."
- >You pull out your wallet and you count the coins inside.
- >Thirty bits flat.
- >You bite your lower lip as you think about the night ahead.
- >You sigh once again.
- "Well, I could pay for you. I have just enough to get us in."
- >"Oh, no I couldn't let you spend the last of your money."
- "No, no. I insist."
- >Flitter looked down and nervously kicked a stone at her hooves.
- >"Yeah," she said finally.
- >She looked up at you with a smile.
- >"I'd like that."
- >The pavilion was a beautiful piece of architectural art.
- >Pure white and built for easy view of the stage as well as the ocean and sky behind it.
- >The structure was isolated from most of the city, so when the lights dimmed, it was just the full moon and the stars shining down for everyone to see.
- >Thank goodness it was a cloudless night too.
- >The band doesn't play music like the club from the night before.
- >It's a lot more mellow and there are more intimate couples here than before.
- >The two of you stand in the crowd, you kneeling beside her to stay eye-level.
- >Flitter leans into you to rest her head on your shoulder and you place a hand on her shoulder to hold her close.
- >The music changes to a slower song.
- [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_LrTC5dFYg ]
- >The lights dim and the spotlights shine to the center of the crowd.
- >The crowd splits for the most part, several couples staying and slow dancing.
- >You decide to join them and stand with Flitter's hoof in your hand.
- >She spreads her wings and hovers so that she's level with you.
- >The two of you slowly start turning and rocking as the music plays.
- >Her head rests on your shoulder as she stays close to you.
- >At one point she lifts her head to meet your eyes in a long stare.
- >The two of you meet in a lip lock simultaneously.
- >When you break, your touch your foreheads together and stare at the floor between you.
- >In the midst of the music, you whisper to her.
- "I love you."
- >Flitter lifts her head and meets your gaze once again.
- >You smile.
- >She smiles.
- >And the two of you burst into a fit of laughter.
- >You know that isn't true, but it's still a good thought to have.
- "I'm sorry," you say with a smile and a shake of your head.
- >"That's okay," whispered Flitter. "It's just something that happens during the summer."
- >You meet with another long kiss, now standing still as other couples dance around you.
- >When you've had your fill of dancing for the night, you decide to walk her back to her hotel.
- >She opens the door and peeks in.
- >Cloudchaser was lying in bed asleep.
- >And alone.
- >Flitter sighed with relief and turned back to you.
- >She gave you one last long goodnight kiss.
- >This sucks so hard.
- >Unfortunately, the summer night is drawing to an end.
- >There's still so much you long to do with Flitter, but with as early as you both have to be up in the morning, you simply can't do it.
- >You stand there in her warm embrace for quite some time.
- >Finally she whispers, "I have to go now".
- >You nod as you slowly release her.
- >"I hope we can meet again."
- "Yeah," is all you can say.
- >"Goodbye."
- >She slowly shuts her door and you hear the lock click in place.
- >You stand outside for several minutes before you start back to your own hotel.
- >Thunderlane is asleep when you get there.
- >You crawl into bed and pass out.
- >Morning comes with the sound of your alarm clock.
- >Once again, you are up before the sun.
- >You don't have much to pack so your both out the door and check out of the hotel right quick before meeting up with the rest of your class.
- >The flight back home is of everyone sharing stories and laughing at the times they've had.
- >You rest your head on your hand as you stare out over the landscape and think about what could have been.
- >You find yourself back in your bedroom.
- >You take another look at your photo album and close it.
- >Setting it aside on the night stand, you continue cleaning out your closet.
- >What plans do you even have for the rest of the day?
- >You could go visit your mom since you haven't done that in a while.
- >In the midst of planning out the rest of your day, the phone rings.
- >Probably Thunderlane wanting to go out this weekend.
- >Not that you have a problem with that.
- >It's always a joy to see him get drunk and make a complete ass of himself trying to woo the ladies.
- >You grab the phone off the receiver and answer it.
- "Hello?"
- >"Hey..." starts the voice.
- >Female.
- >"Is this Anonymous?"
- "Yes it is. May I ask who's calling."
- >"Hey... You may not remember but... This is Flitter."
- >A smile slowly crept across your lips.
- >Then you look down at the photo album; taking a picture out of the page and holding it up to view.
- "Yeah, that sounds familiar."
