- He thought for a moment, then broke into a smile. Loosening his grip on the orb, he watched as it fell to the ground before breaking into a million tiny fragments. "Well, I already sold my soul to Neron for more bullets. Not like I can damn myself much more than that, right?"
- Instantly, a thick cloud of smoke burst forth, from the remains of the orb, obscuring Deadshot's vision of the diner. He coughed, waving his hand in front of him before placing it on his head. Was it just him, or was the room starting to spin around? He lurched to the side, falling onto the ground. He swore he could faintly hear the sound of sirens.
- Struggling, he tried to push himself upright, only partially succeeding before he became dizzy again and fell to the floor. It was at that point that he noticed a pair of hazy feet near his face.
- "Who are you? What do you want?" he said, slurring his words as he tried to get a good look at the stranger. He could hear the sirens getting louder. The police would be here any second now.
- The stranger said nothing, simply tilting his head towards him. Deadshot tried to stand to get a better look, wobbling on one leg before falling onto his knees.
- "If your gonna kill me, go ahead." he said. "Might as well give my life some sort of meaning." But the stranger simply shook his head before taking a step closer to him. Now he could see that his face was covered by a bat shaped cowl. Deadshot sat up, staring hard at the figure. The sound of the sirens was overwhelming now, and Deadshot swore he could hear voices approaching.
- "I know you, don't I." Deadshot said. "I mean, you definitely aren't Batman, but...I still know you. You're connected to him in some way, aren't you?" The figure nodded in response, before stepping even closer. Now Deadshot could see that the man was wearing a green shirt stained with blood. He coughed again as blue and red lights pierced his vision. "Who...who are you really?"
- The man considered this request before he nodded. Then, in one smooth motion, he pulled the cowl off of his head. Deadshot's eyes widened in confusion as he took in the sight before him. "The hell?" he muttered as he fell back onto the ground again. Before he could ask any more questions, he felt the boot of a police man hit him in the back of his head, and then there was only darkness.
