so i thought of combining two different ideas i had
remember how i was talkin about doin like funeral home funnies
and then i also was jokin around with alex and we made like fantasy alter egos which turned into a cute lil story about a necromancer bringing a shapeshifter back to life
she was trying to practice animal necromancy which is fair game karmically but he died in raccoon form
so she accidentally did human necromancy
i was thinkin about how like her character would work and that she'd need to have some sorta purpose bein born in a like ancient family of necromancers or w/e
and i thought it'd be cute if she took care of the dead, like a fantasy medieval funeral home type thing that her family always did
and she lived in a witchy cottage house in the center of the graveyard

it'll probably incorporate elements from diff time periods
anyway i think she's very lowkey a witch/necromancer
her family has had a positive relationship with the town for centuries being undertakers
and well the bonus is they now have an army of dead that they live in the middle of
y'know just in case
and ofc they prepare the bodies for burial with special ointments and rituals to ensure safe spiritual passage and organize their placement in the graveyard according to usefulness in the event of an emergency
so this character being the super cap cap asc she is dutifully does her job as she was taught
even tho there's no one left in her family to enforce it
anyway so the whole graveyard would have all sorts of cool magic booby traps and shit which i think would be really awesome plot device later
like it's designed so that you need a minimum of like 4 or 5 necromancers working in tandem to raise certain parts of the graveyard
like designed for magical warfare right
but at some point she and the shapeshifter have to do it on their own lmfao
she has to operate him remotely
and then she gives a valiant speech to the dead about protecting their kin in the village
but i can't remember if i told you but basically the reason human necromancy is a karmically shitty thing to do is because it can go one of two ways
way 1: their soul isn't retrieved and now you're operating a human flesh puppet and that's #rude
way 2: their soul IS retrieved and you just now upset the balance of the universe
so my cap character being very dutiful and very mindful of karma realizing she accidentally brought back a human was a B I G F U C K U P
and she immediately tries to kill him but then realizes this wasn't a way 1 this was a way 2
his soul was back
So they IMMEDIATELY set out on a spirit quest to HR so she can speak to someone to immediately set this right
"immediate" has been used a lot but that's really what she's feelin lmfao
so when a necromancer brings back a body, it has to serve a purpose to the necromancer in order to remain alive
that prevents a zombie epidemic
they're only as good as the intention was
so once they serve their purpose they die
she was bringing back this raccoon with the intention of it being in servitude for her as a scout/helper, and it was mostly just for practice
so now in order for this shapeshifter kid not to immediately die again he has to serve that purpose to her
if he uses his willpower to deny her he will die
(normally we aren't dealin with souls so the willpower thing isn't generally an issue)

well here's the thing
when they finally get to fuckin HR
they shuffle through the paperwork
and i can't wait to see what my brain comes up with regarding how much thy get pushed around in HR
and all the ridiculous characters up there
anyway it turns out they happen to be soulmates
they just kinda missed each other in this life when he inconveniently died on her doorstep
so the reason she was able to bring his soul back was because of that
it was just all a big weird sequence of events that shouldn't have happened
which righted a universal wrong
so HR can't really do anything about it LOL
but anyway I think HR is gonna assign them on duties
because she's now a full fledged necromancer
officially
which basically is the start of their adventures
and at some point the climax will be her raising the entire cemetary

tmi headcanon but
i haven't decided what the sexual/romantic implications are with them being soulmates yet
but because he's dead he doesn't have a heartbeat
so they can't have conventional sex
like his body just doesn't work for that
so it's more or less off the table at least intially
i don't want it to be too cute and fantasy necromancy where he's like 100% alive and fully functional lol
