54. The world's finest heroes found the Justice League in order to stop an alien invasion of Earth.
 55. 'Justice League: War' really got nothing right. I'll start with the heroes. The heroes were like a mix of the Super Friends and the 1980's GI Joe animated series. And the end result was 2 dimensional and hollow heroes similar to the Power Rangers. There was really nothing to them but powers or technology. The people they are were rendered meaningless and their powers and abilities were vastly over used. I could tell within 5 minutes that this was not going to be one of those great WB Animated films like Mask Of The Phantasm. The tone, bad sound effects, the cheesy dialog and the quality of the voices really felt like an old cartoon rather than the grown up word we use these days: animation. Endless scenes of the seven superheroes bashing Para-demons which felt like a rehash of the cheesy live action Avengers film. And then we get a version of Darkseid that is by far the worst I've seen. He seemed and looked oddly more like the mindless Doomsday than the menacing Darkseid. This takes animation a huge step back to the days of GI Joe, Real Ghostbusters and Transformers. It is obvious that this...cartoon is supposed to help build interest for a live action Justice League film. Instead it makes the Justice League look even more juvenile and simplistic than Marvel's Avengers.

This cartoon's makers tried to give this an edge with some blood, profanity and Superman taking another life but this was nothing but a simplistic cartoon disguised as what we call 'animation' just so it's OK for big boys to watch.
 56. If something good came with the global reboot of DC Comics (known as "The New 52") is that it allowed modern writers the opportunity to rethink the old relationships between the superheroes from that universe, and create completely new dynamics, but influenced by decades of established continuity. In other words, they recreated the DC universe for a new generation, studying the pros (and cons) of past generations. The film Justice League: War pretends to do the same with the DC animated universe, initiating a new continuity separated from previous films (such as Justice League: Doom and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths). The result is generally good, even though I think it was a mistake to start the new phase with this film. The screenplay is based on the story Origin, written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Jim Lee, and even though it diverts a bit from the original material, it respects the personality of the heroes and the naturalness of their interactions. The voice work feels a bit insipid. None of the "classic" actors came back, and I guess it will take a few movies for the new ones to find their characters' rhythm and style. The animation is normal and the action scenes compensate their lack of emotion with a big scale and visual spectacle to some point. However, my main complaint is that there isn't any time to properly introduce so many characters. I think it would have been better to first produce two or three films dedicated to individual heroes (or at least by couples), where the necessary time could have been employed for us to get familiarized with their differences and attributes in this new universe, instead of agglutinating them in a collective movie where they can barely dedicate five minutes or less to every one of them. And I don't say this as a fanboy (even though I undoubtedly am), but as a casual spectator. In that level, I found Justice League: War entertaining but not totally satisfactory; nevertheless, I think it's a good starting point in this evolution from DC Comics. I don't know whether the reboot was a good or bad idea; but I'm glad it didn't damage the animated universe. However, that might mean that they will never make the film Justice League: New World Order, my favorite story from this team. Bad luck. Maybe for the next reboot 50 years from now. By that time, I will be... ugh... I shall better not think about that.
