The Foundation Eater abandoned its human body. Leaving behind the body of the emperor of the Argandan Empire within the Celestial Foundation, it returned its consciousness to its main body.

Its body was so huge it could even swallow a Celestial Foundation. It looked like some sort of fish; most of its body was a face, and most of its face was a mouth, expressing its nature as a creature that consumed.

The Foundation Eater awoke in its true form floating in the “Sea.” It began to tremble at the enormous power infused in its body. It rapidly recognized that it was no longer a tiny human. Time began to blur, and a feeling of omnipotence took over.

It recognized its own enormity, and how trivially miniscule the humans living on the surface of that Celestial Foundation were. And as it did, anger began to bubble up within it. It had run away like a coward. It couldn’t forgive the person who had made it do that. Such a Celestial Foundation disappearing would be good. As if to cover up its own fear, fury surged within its heart.

The Foundation Eater decided to unleash the power it had amassed from wolfing down numerous worlds. There was no value in even eating such a thing. Completely destroying it without even a piece remaining would be good.

That decision, at that very moment, removed any possibility of escape for it.

It opened its enormous mouth on a grand scale​. Its mouth was opened so wide​ it could truly swallow a Celestial Foundation in one gulp. In the depths of that mouth, a light burned, a flash of rage that would burn everything to nothing.

“Die.”

The second it determined that it would unleash that light, it came to its senses. It felt like it had heard something. And it realized...ten seconds had passed since it had first predicted its own death.

In that last moment, the Foundation Eater wished it had never become self-aware.

While Yogiri and the others were listening to the king, the Empire of Arganda was already no more.

天 盤 喰らい は、 人 として の 身体 を 放棄 し た。 　 アルガンダ 帝国 の 皇帝 として の 身体 を 天 盤 内 に 放り出し、 自ら の 本体 へと 意識 を 戻し た の だ。 天 盤 をも 飲み込める ほどの 巨体。 それ は どこ か 魚 の よう な 形 を し て いる。 その ほとんど が 顔 で あり、 大半 が 口 を 占め て いる それ は、 ただ 喰らう という その 性 を 表し た 姿 なの だろ う。 　〝 海〟 に 漂う その 本体 で、 天 盤 喰らい は 目覚め た。 　 その 身 に 秘め た 膨大 な 力 に 身震い する。 　 自分 は ちっぽけ な 人間 などでは ない こと を 急速 に 自覚 し た の だ。 　 この 瞬間、 時 の 流れ は 曖昧 となり、 全能 感 に 満たさ れ た。自分 という 存在 の 規模 の 大き さを、 天 盤 の 上 で 生き 足 搔 く 人間 ども の 卑小 さを 認識 する。 　 すると、 ふつふつ と 怒り が 湧い て き た。 　 この 自分 が おめおめ と 逃げ出し た。 それ が 許せ なく なっ た の だ。 　 こんな 天 盤 など 消え去れ ば いい。 　 怯え 恐れ た 自分 を 糊塗 する かの よう に、 激情 で 心 を 埋め 尽くす。 　 天 盤 喰らい は、 数多 の 世界 を 喰らい 溜め込ん だ 力 を 解放 する こと に し た。 　 こんな もの は 喰らう 価値 も ない。 一欠片 も 残ら ず 滅びれ ば いい。 　 それ は 強迫観念 に 似 た もの で あり、 その 瞬間、 天 盤 喰らい の 中 から 逃げる という 選択肢 が 消え去っ て い た。 　 巨大 な 口 を 大きく 広げる。 それ は、 まさに 天 盤 を 一 飲み に できる ほどの 大口 だ。 　 その 口腔 の 奥底。 そこ に 光 が 灯っ た。 　 全て を 焼き 尽くす 怒り の 閃光。 『死ね』 　 それ を 放とう と し た 瞬間、 天 盤 喰らい は 我 に 返っ た。 　 何 かが、 聞こえ た 気 が し た の だ。 　 そして、 今 が、 死 を 悟っ てから 十 秒 後 なの だ と 気付く。 　 天 盤 喰らい は 最期 に、 自意識 などに 目覚め なけれ ば よかっ た と 考え た。夜霧 たち が 王 と 謁見 し て いる その ころ。 　 アルガンダ 帝国 は すでに 滅び て い た。
