The start of Out of the Swamp - Part 1

I've always been a little abnormal, especially for a 16 year old boy. Well, more than a little- I'm not quite human- but I'm no monster! My name's Caleb Doran, and uh, I'm a frog person.

Let me clarify a few things- I do /not/ look like this [img]http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/19/50/01/25/bonapa10.jpg[/img]

I look mostly human- except for the fact I have a slight green tinge to my skin, and my hands and feet are webbed. Oh- and my tongue is super long- 3 meters at full length! No, I don't ever choke on it- I wonder why everyone always asks that. Also I was born like everyone else- no I didn't start as a tadpole. Sorry, just trying to get your questions out of the way now.

Anyways- my family had done their best to keep my hidden- both my parents are normal, so nobody had any idea why I was like this, or why I'd rather eat flies and other bugs than something like a hamburger or a salad. Also, I don't do too well with the cold, and I need water regularly to stay moisturized. That's why my family elected to home school me- and raise me in a swamp. We live, or I guess /lived/, in a swamp. That all came to a rather abrupt end- you see, one evening while I was off doing my thing and my parents were shopping- a girl actually stumbled in!

I panicked at first, mom and dad said I couldn't afford to be seen by anyone. Before I could react though, she saw me- and smiled? She had this really pretty long, blonde hair that flowed down to her waist- pale girl, no idea why she was in a swamp, and she just wore a simple blue sun dress and sandals. Again- why was she in a swamp? This place was at least a good 10 miles from the nearest town or city, so I didn't quite get why she was here. Then she spoke to me.

"Hello"

Her greeting was simple- her voice soft, pretty. It's a little embarrassing, but I'm pretty sure she was like- my first crush. Too bad the story doesn't have the happiest ending. But we'll get to that later- for now, I'll continue from there.
