  1. 00:24:13: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> The past two months have been chaos for the fallen Mogri Empire. Towns exchange ownership between barbarians that used to make up the core of their military. Trade has been disrupted, many moogles are forced to wander the roads of their once great empire as their towns are looted, and their homes occupied by their former soldiers. The great heroes who assured the empire of its continued life...
  2. 00:24:17: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...have now become the despised villains that have buried it. In the wake of this chaos, many tribes are attempting to consolidate their power and march toward the former Mogri lands, seeing this as a good time for conquest. Elvaan, Mithra, Viera, and Humes are fighting each other for territory, wealth, and prestige. A story is about to being in the town of Kuposa, once one of the trade hubs...
  3. 00:24:20: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...with the Lallafell nation to the East, now a nest for the many barbarians. We find a group of exceptional vagabonds, whether former mercenaries, aimless wanderers, or those who have only now come to awaken in this world, they've banded together if only for that goal of survival. Kuposa itself is held by a Nightshade warrior king, and at the least he can always use a few more swords to...
  4. 00:24:21: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...patrol the borders of his newly gained town.
  5. 00:26:06: <Tanya> so hey, yeah, this helps.

Kuposa itself is held by a Nightshade warrior king, and at the least he can always use a few more swords to...
  9. 00:29:57: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...patrol the borders of his newly gained town.
  10. 00:34:59: Tanya had wandered the town for a long time like a lost soul. She eventually heard of the warrior king, and sought his guidance...or at least his coin.
  11. 00:36:19: IVIX without the plant paladin Basil to follow around found himself wandering into the kings court looking for him.
  12. 00:40:04: Squire was more interested in securing himself some pocket money; really, reuniting with his 'boss' is a secondary priority when he's hungry and broke.
  13. 00:41:28: Visto was new to the town, an outcast of his tribe, he recently made some money as a sellsword, although things have been slow to him lately. Perhaps whoever held this town could hire him?
  14. 00:41:49: IVIX 's wandering consisted of following the Selkie around, believe it to know where it was going. (Retcon)
  15. 00:49:33: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> Fate, destiny, or empty pockets lured the impoverished warriors to the halls of the Nightshade King. A rare general hailing from a Mandragora patch attached to an Elvaan tribe, he had made a name for himself as a field general that leads his men at the front lines. Now, however, he seems to have adapted well to rulership. Dressed in the gaudy robes of the former town's mayor, and sitting in...
  16. 00:49:34: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...the vast hall which saw political machinations before the change of regime. It was a strange quirk the moogles had, buildings were designed as though they were much taller than they actually were, and easily accompanied all but the elvaan.
  17. 00:52:30: Tanya strides throught halls with half a purpose, a sword almost as long as she on her back, her eyes kept ahead, but occasionally sparing glances towards those others that had come alongside her.
  18. 00:53:21: IVIX cluthes his cat doll to his chest and looks around nervously while following the Selkie.
  19. 00:55:35: Squire isn't quite so dignified on walking in, or immediately impressive; no visible weapons on his person and all and sauntering in alongside the latest group of recruits, occasionally looking back to keep an eye on IVIX or meeting the gaze of others with his own bored eyes.
  20. 00:56:06: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> Sitting upon his throne, the Nightshade King shifted his weight. His Elvaan guards loomed at his sides, obviously uncomfortable by how close their heads were to the ceiling. He spoke to those who entered his hall, "Greetings warriors, and welcome to my halls!", his fanged mouth moved, appearing almost out of place on a harmless tomato, "I introduce myself as Patch Lord Solanum, and while...
  21. 00:56:08: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...some of you who set foot into my home are known to me, I ask for all of my guests to introduce themselves when first stepping into my halls."
  22. 00:57:19: <Tanya> "Tanya." Simply.
  23. 00:57:45: IVIX speaks quietly. "ivix"
  24. 00:58:22: <Squire> "Name's Squire," he sets a new record by using two words.
  25. 00:58:47: Tanya looks at IVIX gaugingly...it's not deliberately cruel, but her stare is not one easily suffered long.
  26. 00:58:51: Visto keeps silent. He points at a small nametag scribed on his armor.
  27. 00:59:15: <Visto> The word "Visto" is written there, but if it's the armor's name or the owner?
  28. 01:00:19: IVIX cringes and hides his head in his hood.
  29. 01:00:31: Tanya turns her head away with a quiet 'tsch'
  30. 01:13:59: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> The tomato headed mandragora does not move to examine the tag that Visto pointed to. "Tanya, Ivix, Squire. And then there's an armored mute, as well. Three of these are personalities I am familiar with due to the stories that follow in their wake. If you wish to exercise your martial talents underneath a lax and just rule, then you are welcome to join my forces.", he shifts in his chair, and...
  31. 01:14:01: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...continues, "If not, then as you are all warriors, mute in one case, I extend the traditional hospitality of one night's rest as per my patch's traditions. If you're merely here for the night's stay then I shall have a servant show you to where I have set the quarters for visiting warriors. If you wish to join my warriors, then you may approach my throne."
  32. 01:16:05: Tanya steps forward, but speaks. "What will be asked of your warriors?"
  33. 01:16:08: Squire shrugs and steps forward some. "If you'll have me for a little while, anyway."
  34. 01:17:38: IVIX follows Squire
  35. 01:18:27: Visto slowly shifts forward, clanking a bit with every step.
  36. 01:24:58: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "I see, four who wish to put their steel to use. I expect bravery to not quail in the face of a mounted elvaan force, and loyalty to fight to on my side for a month's time at the least of my soldiers. At the start of each month, you are allowed to leave as long as you make it known to myself, or one of my lieutenants. Each month will see you with one tenth of a cow's worth in coin. And for...
  37. 01:24:59: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...your first month, you'll be an advance scouting group."
  38. 01:25:51: Tanya nods
  39. 01:26:21: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "As well, your meals, lodging, and the maintenance of your equipment, shall be provided at my own expense."
  40. 01:27:06: Squire doesn't seem to take any issue with this; not that he's one for rules and regulations, but really, it's practically in his blood just to ignore them once he's back up on his feet.
  41. 01:28:49: IVIX shurgs. Money is not all the important to him.
  42. 01:29:06: Visto doesn't voice any complaints. Of course, that might be because he doesn't speak.
  43. 01:29:31: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "In the case of the Selkie, I'll make it certain that we follow tribal tradition in regards to stealing."
  44. 01:29:49: Tanya conceals a smirk.
  45. 01:32:01: <Squire> "Oi, oi, if I was gonna steal from you I wouldn't be here trying to work honestly for you, right?" Squire seems almost offended. Almost.
  46. 01:34:00: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "Not from myself, but from the other soldiers. I merely say this so that you don't find yourself at the receiving end of complex and archaic customs which the Elvaan under my service are fond of subjecting the new blood to."
  47. 01:34:31: IVIX scratches his head.
  48. 01:34:53: IVIX | unfamiliar with those customs.
  49. 01:35:10: IVIX looks to the Selkie an answer.
  50. 01:35:38: <Squire> "Bleh, your concern is noted. I'm not fond of that stuff myself," he cracks a bit of a smirk, but does actually file this away. Once he notices Ivix looking at him, he adds, "It's just a huge hassle."
  51. 01:36:14: IVIX used to the answer nods.
  52. 01:36:32: IVIX and plans to ask Basil if they find him again.
  53. 01:36:55: Visto nudges Squire, handing him a written note. A very poorly scribbled "HI!" is written there.
  54. 01:37:13: <Tanya> "who will we report to?"
  55. 01:38:00: Squire gets nudged by more shorter people and turns to see Visto's note. He gives the creature under the armor - the heck IS under all that armor anyway - an odd look, then opens his palm in a return of the gesture.
  56. 01:39:48: Visto waves back, probably smiling under the helmet.
  57. 01:40:09: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "Captain of the West Gates. He's got some weird foreign name. He's a Hume, but a good man."
  58. 01:41:47: IVIX looks at the heat body of the creature under that armor.
  59. 01:41:50: Tanya nods simply.
  60. 01:42:59: Visto is cold-blooded. Literally!
  61. 01:46:09: IVIX is confused at that and returns his attention to the king.
  62. 01:47:14: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "If that will be all, I shall send a runner to the West Gates, and have one of the soldiers here guide you to the barracks for the West Gate's soldiers. Though less luxurious than the guest quarters, you're also being paid and allowed to stay there for as long as you serve me."
  63. 01:47:39: <Tanya> "Thank you, sir." *steps back and nods her head*
  64. 01:48:43: <Squire> "It'll do~" Squire folds his hands behind his head and waits for their guide. He'll honestly be happy just to have some food in his belly and a roof over his head again.
  65. 01:49:02: IVIX nods affirmatively.
  66. 01:49:34: Visto skips a little on the air, twirling his spear in cheer.
  67. 01:53:09: Tanya takes another step back and looks at the others. "What are your specialties?"
  68. 01:54:42: <IVIX> 'healing and potions mostly.'
  69. 01:55:07: <IVIX> ((insert a ... before mostly))
  70. 01:56:03: <Squire> "I'm a painter, actually," he's not really looking at Tanya when he says it, though he doesn't sound like he's lying.
  71. 01:56:41: <Visto> (craaap retcon the spear for a Knife)
  72. 01:57:12: Visto points at the small dagger on his hand, then skips some hops. Is he suggesting that stabbing and jumping are his specialties?
  73. 01:57:23: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> One of the guardsman is called up in Elvaan, and then he says something in the Elvaan's froggish tongue, before one of the king's guards speaks up. "Follow this man. He'll lead you to the barracks."
  74. 01:58:26: Tanya nods. "thank you, sir. So, a painter, a knifeman, and an alchemist?"
  75. 02:00:00: <IVIX> 'h-healer before p-potions...miss.'
  76. 02:00:25: Visto nods his head to Tanya in approval. Sort of.
  77. 02:01:01: IVIX starts following the guardsman.
  78. 02:01:17: <Squire> "Something like that. Not what you were expecting?" Squire cracks a smile as he gets following.
  79. 02:01:32: Tanya narrows her eyes at Ivix again and resumes the look that was cut off earlier. "I see."
  80. 02:02:37: IVIX hides behind his cat doll.
  81. 02:02:52: IVIX | unsettled by her glaze.
  82. 02:03:35: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> The guardsman leads you through the ruined streets, some buildings still charred, bloody, or bearing broken doors. The eyes of what few moogles remain peak out from the darkness, watching in fear as yet more soldiers are lead to the West Gate Barracks. One of the few moogle buildings able to accommodate Elvaan, and taller people. He gestures at the building, and opens the door, unsure how to...
  83. 02:03:36: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...nonverbally communicate with the warriors before him.
  84. 02:04:53: Tanya turns her glance away as she walks after the elvaan, striding through in example.
  85. 02:04:57: Visto waddles about on his clanking tiny armor. He gives the Moogles some friendly waves, probably oblivious to the fact they are being kept on a ghetto?
  86. 02:06:48: <Squire> "Nice place~" Squire manages to make it sound like he's not joking when he says that, stretching out a little before heading inside and making a friedly wave of thanks to the guard for leading them here. Despite how relaxed looking he is now though, his eyes had been constantly watching everyone they passed and even now were keeping an eye out.
  87. 02:07:52: IVIX looks around at the occupants of the barrack, seeing if any are injured.
  88. 02:13:39: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> The guardsman proceeds to speak to a moogle working behind a desk, probably explaining your situation to it. The room is full of mercenaries, and bunks, and there's a stairway in the back leading to a second floor. The moogle calls over in the trade language, "Hey, over here.", as the guardsman starts to walk off.
  89. 02:15:37: <Squire> "Lots of people here..." Squire remarks, sticking his hands into the pockets of his shirt. Right, he suggested he wasn't going to steal from them, might as well try to make good on that. "Yo! Three new recruits, or something."
  90. 02:16:20: IVIX looks around, surprised that the feline girl disappeared.
  91. 02:17:02: Visto scribbles a "Recroot Dragoun fighta stronnng" on a small piece of paper, handing it to the Moogle on the desk.
  92. 02:17:46: IVIX nervously makes his way to the white creature.
  93. 02:19:50: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "Yes, yes. The Elvaan explained it. There's three bunks, numbered consecutively starting from twenty eight, up front. You three shall take them, sort out who gets it amongst yourselves. There's a tavern a few blocks down that supports this barracks for meals. Write down your names, and I'll go off running to them. If there's anything you want kept away from the others, give it to me, and...
  94. 02:19:52: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...I'll keep it in my safe. Any questions?"
  95. 02:21:38: IVIX writes down all he remembers about his name. 'Ivix W.'
  96. 02:23:30: Squire just scribes down Squire, with surprisingly distinctive lettering. Artist and all. "I'll keep anything I really need on my person," he adds, though really, it's not like he has much to his name.
  97. 02:24:08: <Visto> Scribbled on another horrible note from the armored Tonberry is: "<IZT0" How is that supposed to be pronounced is a mystery, especially from the fact it was more 'carved' into the paper with a knife than actually written.
  98. 02:26:32: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> The moogle takes the papers, and kinda stares at the mute short one's paper. "Right, these are distinct enough. I'll send them to the tavern in an hour or so, barring any need for my services. If your matresses are without fluff, your blankets full of holes, or your pillows without chocobo down, then you come tell me. If the bed frame somehow breaks, that's also my business. I kinda fix...
  99. 02:26:34: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> ...everything around here."
  100. 02:27:15: IVIX nods, appreciating someone who helps so much.
  101. 02:27:46: <Emperor_Gilliam_I> "Also, if you bathe, the taverns take care of that, too."
  102. 02:28:35: Visto looks with amazement of the moogle. What is 'bath' in any case?
  103. 02:30:59: <Squire> "Oh boy oh boy, public baths," Squire sounds a little less than thrilled at that. "But, thanks."
  104. 02:33:45: IVIX notics a little dirt on the foot of his robe. His waves the tail of his doll at it and it glows softly, and the dirt falls off.
  105.
