There was a car in Maddie's way at the top of the ramp, no, two cars. Throwing her Hummer into reverse and backing down the ramp, she pushed down on the accelerator after switching back to drive; the SUV barreled up the ramp at about forty-five miles an hour and slammed into the smaller vehicle on the left. The car was smashed aside, creating a gap in the flaming barrier that Caleb had just made with his fire arrow.

Maddie, being the daredevil she was, drove her now-damaged Hummer straight through the flames, immediately executing a sharp turn to her right and driving towards the opposite end of the third floor of the garage. Her remaining plasma grenade, primed, flew from the Hummer's driver's side window, aimed in Caleb's general direction, as the Valkyrie passed him in the middle of her turn.
