  1. Corbomite Class (Launched 2390, in the Star Trek Online timeline, still in use in 2410) (Designed in Kerbal Space Program with a bunch of mods)
  2. • The Corbomite class was another attempt to design a ship to fight the Borg, and was developed by Section 31, with the backing of certain Starfleet admirals, after Starfleet abandoned its anti-Borg research in 2385 (on the belief that the Borg had been crippled by Voyager - a belief Section 31 and the aforementioned admirals did not subscribe to).
  3. • Constructed at a cloaked shipyard, the first Corbomite-class ship was launched in 2390, and was soon followed by more. Since then, each ship has undergone upgrades every 5 years to keep them from becoming obsolete. They saw action in 2309 during the Borg invasion of the Alpha and Beta quadrant and continue to strike against Borg incursions in 2310.
  4. • Size: 289m long (same as the Constitution class)
  5. • Modus Operandi: To intercept and destroy Borg cubes while they are traveling at warp.
  6. • Features:
  7. • A deflector array (constructed from tetraburnium) and eps grid designed to channel massive amounts of power without failing, to be used as a reusable spinal-mount cannon whose frequency and beam type can be changed at will.
  8. • Warp jacketing: When the deflector weapon is fired at warp, it projects a warp field around the beam.
  9. • Three warp cores to provide significantly more power than conventional Federation starships. They provide a surplus of power and feature advanced plasma load-balancing and redundancy, so that firing the weapon doesn't destabilize other systems and so that things keep functioning even if one warp core starts to have problems.
  10. • Three phasing cloaks, of which only one is active at a time. Extensive testing and the redundant warp cores have significantly improved their safety, to the point that, being a secret Section 31 weapon, Corbomite-class ship are normally under cloak all the time. If the active phasing cloak needs maintenance, or otherwise fails, another of the three takes over for it.
  11. • With the ship powered by three warp cores, the deflector weapon can channel enough power to destroy a Borg cube in a single shot. The deflector dish is constructed out of tetraburnium to enable it to channel the massive amounts of power (and heat) involved without failing.
  12. • The deflector weapon is designed to be able to fire while under cloak and still strike uncloaked targets, by adjusting the phase of the deflector's output to enable it to hit ships which aren't phased.
  13. • Multiple redundant shield generators with automatic frequency shifting (in case the Borg adapt to detect, disable, or fire through phasing cloaks).
  14. • Overpowered warp nacelles to enable it to outpace and catch Borg cubes traveling at warp.
  15. • Heavy armor on the warp nacelles and the connecting pylons to protect them against damage.
  16. • Since the armor precludes the use of photon spill ports, the phasing cloak was designed to incorporate a secondary photon-only phasing metric penetrating and surrounding the nacelles. It shifts photons emitted by the nacelle plasma to another phase, and then drops them back down to the ship's own phase at a radius from the nacelles approximately equivalent to 45% of the ship's width. This is tuned to direct them to six planes so that the crew can still see the nacelles from external cameras. This secondary phasing metric defaults to remaining active even while the ship is not cloaked. Were it to be turned off, the warp cores would need to be downcycled to prevent photon overpressure from damaging or destroying the nacelles.
  17. • Phaser turrets primarily for use against ships that are too maneuverable to shoot with the deflector, and for point-defense, just in case the cloak fails.
  18. • No torpedoes, since it is too easy for Borg to adapt to them.
  19. • Deceptive appearance and sensor camouflage: In case the Borg ever adapt to see through the phasing cloak, Corbomite-class ships use sensor camouflage to give false sensor readings - they scan as using obsolete 23d century Federation technology, and appear similar to a Constitution-class ship with some modifications (such as round connecting pylons, no windows, no lettering on the hull, different Bussard collectors, etc).
  20. • Holodecks and rec areas for crew comfort, although the ships are lacking in scientific equipment, as they are primarily warships sent out for long patrols.
  21. • Extensive automation, allowing the ship to be crewed by a relatively small amount of people, most of whom are engineers.
