Lo Fi: oooohhhh Reflective 5... the crazy part of that is it's been *ALMOST* finished since last spring... we have the artwoork ready. sick collabs with UFO! and Yookie, and Skin on The Drum refix... the VIP Bass Remedy remix of Empathy... a bunch of stuff... but my time in the studio has just been CONSUMED with making edits... i have been full time remixing my record collection, to the point where every single track in any set is completely flipped, 100% remastered, and completely customized... These Dark Parties are really to blame, because they just inspire me to truly dive deep into DJing... sound collage for days. So i'm editing and remixing so many old cuts and classic tracks, and making super complicated bootleg scenarios, and its just so godamn fun...

so the Amorphous team keeps hitting me up for Reflective 5 and i'm like... each song on an EP takes at least a month of excessive OCD fine tuning, or i could spend a month and make 50 bootlegs of totally exclusive customized music

Lo Fi: this past weekend i went through the last 10 years of halloween sets, and pulled out all my favorite bits and started mashing them up... then i found some truly crazy material in an old CD book, and i've been remixing the dickens out of that too....

basically all three nights of the Dark Party are going to be a healthy mix of

1. remixed throwbacks from 1990-2005 [downtempo, abstract trip hop, crazy freestyle electronica, techno,etc]

2. remixed throwbacks from 2006-2012 [dubstep hey day]

3. some highlights from everything since

4. brand new tunes and discoveries all flipped on their head and dressed in drag and READY TO RUMBLE

Connor: Lo Fi - Let's talk about Minneapolis!

You haven't played in Minnesota since Nov 2012. We miss you! The Armory is a new venue and I'm sure it's been mentioned to your team plenty of times. It's a stellar venue, but capacity is only 8,400. Might be ideal for a Be Interactive event.

My MAIN question: have you considered hosting an outdoor camping festival at the old SummerSet Festival location? You've crushed that massive amphitheater plenty of times already, and you could easily set up an immersive festival experience with smaller stages and interactive act like Sherwood Forest in Rothbury.

- Wisconsin has no sound restrictions (I think?)

- Plenty of camping space (SummerSet was easily 15-20,000+ people at it's peak)

- 45 minutes from MSP airport. Easy for people to fly in and shuttle to the venue.

anytime i work on 100 bpm or 110 bpm i have to watch the whole front row stop moving and stand their confused and staring and waiting and watching...its not easy. if i ever play a night club or a house party ill rinse the fuck out of all that stuff, but i have seen and learned that this next generation knows not how to move with they hips and they shoulders as much as they have the grip-rail and headbang on LOCK...

to me most of that 100 bpm stuff requires actual dance moves, and a willingness to wiggle and bob and weave and even grind thy pelvis like a hooligan, so...

my favorite is to set Pandora to anything antique or left field, or out of my ordinary... so i listen to a lot of ambient, i set pandora to Amelie [soundtrack] or to Narcos [TV show] or some old classic convalescent home style Billie Holiday.....Traditional Romanian

Mariachi music, Manu Chao, King Tubby, Cloud Atlas [soundtrack]... i have a lot of music memorized which i listen to in my head and sing along to

Lo Fi: Lady Stein: been hella unplugged, shut down my cell phone [had the same number for 20 years and i move the number to an Android, because they allow users to run an auto-responder, so i've been living without a phone and there's no looking back]

been hiking every day, excercising a lot, spending tons of time in the studio being creative {its been a HUGE shift from creating music for official releases, which is fun but takes up so much time, to creating/crafting exclusive customized remixes of music.... every day is a party in the studio:}

and just unwinding, unplugging, digital detox, remembering to stay human...

part of my process this fall has been accepting that I am way less available than I wish i was... that i have a very limited amount of time and life force to "spend", and no matter how badly i wish i could be everywhere all the time and live 1,000 lives in every moment: i can't. so accepting those basic limitations and learning how to be present has been extremely healthy and inspiring :)

Lo Fi it's because when i was writing the lyrics to Select Frequency i was forced to accept the fact that the word "mind" simply does not ryhme with "symphony" or "constantly" or "frequency"....

all those words ryhme with "EEEEE" and i can't even spell the word ryhme apparently because aevery time i type it i see a red line underneath it.

now see... "line" rhymes with "mind"...so i could have said "Voodoo Symphony Line...in the Mind" but that would have been weird cuz what is a Voodoo Symphony Line?

i don't know, that i can assure you.

but if you spell out mind "EMM EYE ENN DEEEEE" then WHAM! it ryhmes with SYMPHONY :)
